Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with an apparently serious injury during practice on Tuesday and was taken away by ambulance.

The third-year quarterback didn’t appear to be touched when he went down in the pocket and grabbed his left knee.

The Vikings have two healthy quarterbacks after releasing quarterback Brad Sorensen on Tuesday, backup Shaun Hill and former Wisconsin starter Joel Stave.

UH OH!

Almost all non contact knee injuries are serious, because they are not "bumps and bruises".

He's a good QB and I would think a long loss of him will take Minnesota out of the playoff picture. The only potential good news is that the long season hasn't started yet. He could miss 12 weeks and still be back for crunch time, assuming the Vikings are still in it.

UH Oh is right.

Another quarterback is down....A lot if teams are in dire need of a starter or good back up. Looks like the Viking are on that list now.

Yeah not good news at all.

Thing is we were all looking forward to seeing his progression this year. As a third year QB he is just coming into his own. What a bummer. I'm a Colts fan foremost; but, living in the land of Vikings I have a certain affection for the team.

Bears. Even without bridgewater, they still will finish behind the Vikes.

Chicago suffered their own serious ACL in the loss of Grassu. That's the last thing they needed. Good fortune to you and the bears this year though Sean.

Yeah, the O-line is looking like a disaster even assuming Long is able to play with his shoulder injury.  Defense will be better but the offense will take a step back.

Looks like a 7 win  team to me,

He was expected to actually take charge of the team and make it his own this year, show what he can really do....

Definitely going to set him back two years at least...

The Vikings have a good team, not a great one, YET. But they were expected to challenge for one of the top five spots in the NFL.

This was the year we were going to see what they were made of playing a first place schedule and all....

Exactly.

Things were looking so on target this year...

What I don't like about this season, my team has a target on it's back....

Only playing a second place schedule but still, everyone is going to be gunning for them...

Who do you pull for NWM? Are you a Broncos fan?

Seahawks fan,

Ever since that fool on sports center said that the Broncos and Seahawks were the favorites to go to the next Superbowl, everyone has been repeating it....

With Brock GONE to the Texans, (72 million right! talk about overpaying) and Siemian named the starter, don't know about Denver.

But pretty much all offseason they have been yakking up the Hawks as the favorite...

Doesn't set well with me...

~UPDATE~

Statement from Vikings Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman on Teddy Bridgewater:

Teddy Bridgewater suffered a non-contact injury today at practice. The injury was quickly identified as a dislocated knee. The injury was stabilized, and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. After undergoing an MRI, it was determined that Teddy suffered a complete tear to his ACL and other structural damage. Fortunately, there appears to be no nerve or arterial damage. Surgical repair will be scheduled within the next few days. Although the recovery time will be significant, we expect Teddy to make a full recovery. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and our athletic training staff for all of their help today. Teddy has already displayed the attitude needed to overcome this injury and attack his rehab.

Nothing hurts like a knee injury...  It makes you sick to your stomach, somehow...  I hope he heals, well and quickly!
