The American People DO NOT Wish To Normalize Donald Trump

By John Russell

News report : Protests Against The Election Of Donald Trump Will Continue All This Week

Why are hundreds of thousands of Americans taking to the streets to protest the election? There were no hanging chads or disputed vote counts. There is no question about the electoral legitimacy of the outcome. So why a second week of protests?

In my view this is not complicated. These people realize in the hearts souls and minds that Donald Trump is the worst president elect in the history of the country. If you're not going to protest the worst, when would be the appropriate time to protest?

The people don't want to normalize Donald Trump, because he is not normal. There was not a single day, and very few moments , when his campaign was normal. The people understand that.  His words are not normal. The people understand that.

The media has kept the 'normalcy' of Donald Trump as politician propped up by taking him seriously. In a sense they had to take him seriously because he was a candidate (and was very famous from television) , but once he started opening his mouth and incessantly lying the seriousness of his campaign should have ended in the eyes of responsible media.

We have seen enough of Donald Trump in public now to know this is a very erratic person. He has been known to change his opinion on issues from day to day depending on what he has read and who he has spoken to. He believes in dozens of conspiracy theories. He doesn't seem to understand things that other intelligent people take as a given. He has contradicted himself a number of times even since becoming president-elect.

Now there are reports that Trump was shocked by the details of what the job of the presidency entails when he was briefed by President Obama.

The GOP establishment in Congress intends to control Donald Trump and prevent the elements of the Trump agenda the establishment does not want. So why did we elect him again? His promises are going to fall off the table one by one, and we will still be stuck with an erratic unpredictable commander in chief.

This man is not qualified to be president of the United States. That is why people are protesting. Unless he radically changes, protests will be with us throughout.

I say the people do not want to normalize Donald Trump with the understanding that he won the election in a very narrow way. His supporters are claiming a mandate for someone who did not get a majority of the vote, so I can claim that those who oppose him represent "the people".

We all know if the situation was reversed you would be claiming Hillary won fair and square and you would not be claiming Hillary protestors represent the people.

Students from across the U.S. walked out of school Monday to protest the election of Donald Trump as President. Around 5,000 students from Seattle Public Schools' middle and high schools participated in the walk out, officials said Monday evening.

Oh whatever.  We don't care any more.  Go ahead and freakin exhaust yourselves protesting to people with our ears shut saying we don't here you and don't give a darn anymore if you protest in big cities that voted your way and few if any of us live anyway.  Go ahead and tolerate your protesters going into riot mode and damage property in your own neighborhoods.  Republicans got what we wanted and I'm not talking just for president.  We will simply tune you all out and live our lives as if you don't exist in our suburbs, exurbs, and rural areas until you all are ready to come to the table and dialogue.  Carry on!  We'll stay quiet until some riot excesses happen and then we will use them to mock your precious protests.

To paraphrase, 'we simply tune out and live our lives, as if you did not exist....' Exactly how nearly 100% of the members here feel about your excessive hated of Pres. Obama, and your idiotic campaign to make a 'Jefferson'.

Well, that is in Washington state.  None walked out here in Western New York, because we teach our children the difference between right and wrong and that a perfectly legal election just happened and there will be a new President in January-just like we've done throughout the history of this nation.  We also teach our children that it is wrong to judge people for actions they haven't taken.

We also do not have the problems of places like Seattle (and other major cities) where students are killing each other, the infrastructure is failing, the police failing to do their jobs, etc., etc.

Maybe it's good that they protest in say, Chicago, keeps Chicagoans busy and not killing each other at such a high rate.  Once they're done protesting, it'll likely be back to business as usual.

Does make it seem, though, as if Mrs. Clinton was the candidate of the half educated.

I guess liberals don't think education is important...

What I'm curious about is what is going to be the beneficial result of all this protest? What do the protesters hope to gain? Do they think Trump is going to quit? Do they think there will be a new election? What beneficial thing do they think is being accomplished by their rioting and burning and damaging and wasting their valuable time over something that is not going to change or get any better?

What IS being accomplished, and I can see it here, is for the rest of the world to see that democracy is no panacea. The protests are a calming influence where I am because the public can see that democracy is not what they should wish for. However, that is not important to Americans, but it is to the rest of the world.

Students walk out of school. So their individual education suffers. So they shoot themselves in the foot.  Perhaps they need a few more lessons in civics.

Trump and the Republican houses of government are going to do what they are going to do and not one thing can be done to stop them for the next four years, so the protesters can bang their heads against the wall and knock themselves silly because nothing, not one thing will be accomplished by it unless someone does what all this rioting and protesting and burning is going to tempt them to do, and assassinate Trump, (It's not like Presidents have not been assassinated before) but then the VP will take over, and the Senate and the Reps and the conservatively stacked SCOTUS are still going to do what won't make them happy.  What a useless exercise. What a waste of time and effort.

Protests bring media attention. Media attention turned on Donald Trump could act as a governor on some of his more extreme ideas. Buzz , there is going to be an ongoing and significant opposition to Trump throughout his term in office, He is not qualified to be president of the United States. If you don't like reading about significant opposition to Trump, on a daily basis, perhaps you should confine your reading to Chinese or Israeli publications or the Gatestone Institute.

It has all the significance of kittens squealing in a basket Buzz.  They can look and sound pathetic, but they still can't get out of the basket.

Am I wrong, Spike?

I can answer that one.  Yes Blue, you're wrong.  In the elections of 2018, the Democrats have twice as many Senate seats at risk as the Republicans do.  The Republicans had a large majority and lost very few seats in the House of Representatives in this election, so the Democrats in 2018 will be facing them while the Republicans are at full strength.  Unless there is a major collapse (unlikely), the Republicans are more likely to gain seats than lose them.

People who 'normalise' sexual predator's deserve what they get, just like idiot's who feel they Won something when they so obviously didn't!

Con man in the White House, good because he's "White" then sit back like it made no difference, but the Jig (not like Bush @ dead Police Officer funeral - mind you MER) is up

Obstruct, One-Term do Nothing for that negro rant may Evaporate for them, yet "We" remember the 'whining' cry-baby antics that stifled the government for 8 years esp. after the blowing up of the Republican's "Fiscal Responsibility" theories & buckle up because it's about to do so again!

The whole wash, dry, rinse & repeat is a BORE, yet doomed to it apparently because those who vote against the people for skin, gender ect. Must be heard - just unfortunate they have Nothing

'original' to Say!

"Now there are reports that Trump was shocked by the details of what the job of the presidency entails when he was briefed by President Obama." That explains the deer in the headlights look on his face, in the days following his historic 'win with less voters than his opponent' victory. Hopefully he doesn't manage to tank everyone's retirement and real estate value over the next four years.  But if he does, I'm sure he and his family have already devised a way to ensure that our loss will become their gain.  There will be tremendous investment opportunity in our despair.

Nobody voted for Trump because they want what the establishment considers to be normal activity in Washington to continue.

He is there to rip apart the norm and reverse the direction the country is headed.

It's refreshing to have such an abnormal candidate deliver a striking blow to the normal establishment.

You make it sound like ripping apart the status quo will automatically result in peace and prosperity.  That blind faith is so libertarian.  It's more likely that what will happen will be just the opposite, particularly when you factor in the moron who is running the show.
