What Are Your Favorite Wintertime Songs ?

Let's do it a little different , and not confine it just to Christmas.

The online radio service Accuradio   has a seasonal channel dedicated to songs that are about the winter time activities but don't specifically mention Christmas  (Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride, etc)

So, here either give your favorite Christmas songs, or your favorite seasonal songs.

Here is one I always liked. Not a Christmas song per se, but a winter time song.

Here is an interesting sidelight to this great Christmas perrenial

"despite the song fitting into the circumstances of the musical quite well, the song was written in 1943 by composer Hugh Martin. His original take on the song was extremely dark, deeply sad…and befitting the fact that the U.S. was deep into World War II. Among some of Martin’s original lyrics: “Have yourself a merry little Christmas / It may be your last / Next year we may all be living in the past.” Both cast and crew of  Meet Me in St. Louis balked at the song, particularly the depressing lyrics. He protested at first, but ultimately wrote some new lines. Notably, those lines noted above became the now familiar “Have yourself a merry little Christmas / Let your heart be light / Next year all our troubles will be out of sight.”"

That's really interesting. I never knew that. The song always felt tinged with sadness and wistfulness, which always touched my heart, given that I knew it was written during the war.

Although not a true Christmas song, in England this song was also sang during the holidays during the war.

Thank you Six. Dame Vera Lynn's voice strengthened resolve and planted hope in the hearts of soldiers during WWII.

How often does the first day of Hanukkah fall on Christmas Eve (like this year)  or Christmas Day? I know people who have both Christian and Jewish sides of the family will be celebrating both tomorrow.

I was 2 years old when this song came out-- and still remember hearing it over the radio of my parent's 57 Chevy...  Lots of good memories of that car!  Jingle Bell Rock

What Are Your Favorite Wintertime Songs ?

This one always captured my wintertime feelings.

Lyrics for Buzz;

"Bare Trees"

Bare trees, grey light

Oh yeah it was a cold night

Bare trees, grey light
I was alone in the cold of a winters day
You were alone and so snug in your bed
I was alone in the cold of a winters day
You were alone and so snug in your bed

Bah do dah, do dah da do da do
Bah do dah, do dah da do da do
Bah do dah, do dah da do da do
Bah do dah, do dah da do da do

Bare trees, grey light
Oh yeah it was a cold night
Bare trees, grey light
I was alone in the cold of a winters day
You were alone and so snug in your bed
I was alone in the cold of a winters day
You were alone and so snug in your bed

Bah do dah, do dah da do da do
Bah do dah, do dah da do da do
Bah do dah, do dah da do da do
Bah do dah, do dah da do da do

Same album has "Sentimental Lady" on it.

Not a winter themed song per say but it does have an, "autumn wind blowing through it", kind of fell.

Lyrics for Buzz;

Lyrics

You are here and warm
But I could look away and you'd be gone
Cause we live in a time
When meaning falls in splinters from our lives
And that's why I've traveled far
Cause I come so together where you are

And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
14 joys and a will to be merry
And all of the things that we say are very
Sentimental gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental Lady
Gentle one

Now you are here today
But easily you might just go away
Cause we live in a time
When paintings have no color, words don't rhyme
And that's why I've traveled far
Cause I come so together where you are

And all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
14 joys and a will to be merry
And all of the things that we say are very
Sentimental gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental Lady
Gentle one

You are here and warm
But I could look away and you'd be gone
Cause we live in a time
When meaning falls in splinters from our lives
And that's why I've traveled far
Cause I come so together where you are

Yes and all of the things that I said that I wanted
Come rushing by in my head when I'm with you
14 joys and a will to be merry
And all of the things that we say are very
Sentimental gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental Lady
Gentle one

Sentimental gentle wind
Blowing through my life again
Sentimental Lady
Gentle one

Thanks for your consideration. Actually, all I need is the title, which most people feel unnecessary to add to a YouTube comment.  I can internet search for the lyrics, and in a lot of cases open a video that is accessible here.
