Just One Shot Before the Rain Came

When I first spotted this Eagle (from a distance), I thought it was a Great Horned Owl because of one of the tree branches behind its head. But when I looked through my lens, I saw this …

… and then the rain came down heavily, and, we both left.

I don't think I ever saw an Eagle in real life, even in an aviary. They are magnificent birds, and the right symbol for the USA.  I think the Beaver is Canada's symbol. LOL

Actually, if they were going to make a bird a symbol of Canada, it should be one that is superior, a winner - the Blue Jay. LOL

The pain never goes away from that night in '93.

And Mitch Williams is still getting himself in situations of notoriety.

Mitch Williams later placed the blame on himself for what happened in the 1993 World Series, adding that he had put the ordeal behind him:

Everybody saw what happened,. . . . I made a mistake, and he hit the mistake. I let my team down today. I'm not going to go home and commit suicide or anything....They did what they had to do to win this series. And I let us down in big situations. I carry that burden. No excuses. I didn't get the job done.
—Mitch Williams on his feelings about surrendering the home run to Joe Carter [8]

By the time Williams faced Carter, he was burned out; Manager Jim Fregosi used Williams excessively during the season and playoffs.

That is not to take away from Carter's home run; it was a no doubt about it home run.

Then he had the integrity not to blame being overused, or anyone else.

Going back to the thicket where the Eagle was perched; it's not the same spot as where I photographed the Eagle two weeks ago ... I will be going there as well today.
