MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski called out Republicans for remaining silent about Donald Trump's latest attack on the U.S. Constitution.

The former president called for the termination of the Constitution and the overturning of his 2020 election loss in a post on his Truth Social account, and the "Morning Joe" host and her guest Charlie Sykes said Trump's threat couldn't have been made plainer.

"He put it in writing," Sykes said. "This is the extraordinary -- I feel like we're in some sort of an insane alternative reality simulation here. In the last two weeks, you had Donald Trump pledge solidarity for the Jan. 6 rioters. He has dinner with an actual neo-Nazi and a notorious antisemite and fan of Adolf Hitler, and calls for terminating the laws, including the articles of the Constitution, and the Republican Party, you know, the fact that they cannot draw the line here is really extraordinary, although perhaps not new."

"It is as if Donald Trump has gone full troll," Sykes added. "How far can he push this? How much can he get them to swallow? You know, on Tuesday we had a federal jury find the Oath Keeper leaders guilty of seditious conspiracy. Four days later, the former president of the United States says, 'Seditious conspiracy, hold my beer -- I'm going to put out a call to terminate the Constitution so I can be restored."

Brzezinski said Trump was testing Republicans, and they were again failing.

"It's not just what he can get Republicans to swallow," she said. "He's making complete fools of you and everything you stand for and everything you've ever worked for in your life, but he's a danger to our country. These are dangerous statements. He is telling you what he wants to do. Believe him, okay?"

"Like, how much does this country have to go through?" Brzezinski added. "How much division, how much hatred, how much pressure on our system, how much law enforcement, the FBI, the Department of Justice, police officers -- anybody who's in Donald Trump's sights, how much does this country have to go through? How much stress on our system and on our democracy do we need to endure before we see that this man is a fascist, and that he has very, very bad intentions, and Republicans, you are helping him by not stepping up and manning up and saying what is right and who you are and what you really are, what you stand for, and if you're not a Republican, and you're not a conservative, then you can go follow after Donald Trump. But if you are, then you need to walk away loudly, today."

Trump could rip apart the US Constitution in the middle of the Capitol rotunda with a Nazi flag to one side and a confederate flag on his other side , and still he would be a contender for the Republican presidential nomination.

We have never seen anything remotely like this in our lifetimes.

Are you pretending Democrats are any better?

They want to nationalize all elections and do away with the electoral college; both in complete violation of the Constitution. Throw in packing the US Supreme Court; and not enforcing US borders and immigration laws.

For a man who isn't even President Trump is taking up a lot of damn time with Democrats in Congress, the DOJ & FBI; and White House that could be used for far better things. Like Democrats finally coming up with a plan to deal with gas prices and inflation- and not 10 plus years down the damn road (if then even) like their Inflation Reduction Act (what a fucking joke that is!)

"I've said if Ivanka weren't my daughter perhaps I'd be dating her."

"The accuser says" when she was 13 years old "Trump raped her repeatedly at parties thrown by since-convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who was widely known to throw wild parties with young women and girls".

I find it hilarious that you take actual accusations against Trump and just unfoundedly fling them at Biden in some weak attempt at equivalence with such a vile sack of shit like Trump. For anyone with more than half a brain there simply is no comparison between the two, Trump is clearly a greasy shit stain on the underwear of American history while Biden is just an old amiable grandpa who often puts his foot in his mouth.

Trump support is indeed waning but given he needs but a plurality to be the GoP nominee, the GoP should remain very concerned and work to ensure his influence is diminished to the point of irrelevancy.

ka Brzezinski tipped everything in Trumps favor

Did I say that? I said she was a Trump cheerleader, which she was.   But I'm sure he was a completely different person when he  was her "close friend."

In background discussions, NBC News and MSNBC journalists, reporters and staffers said there was widespread discomfort at the network over Scarborough's friendship with Trump and his increasingly favorable coverage of the candidate. "People don't like that Joe is promoting Trump," one MSNBC insider said. Others described Scarborough's admiration for Trump as "over the top" and "unseemly."
Four of those sources also said that the growing media scrutiny over the two men's relationship has caused the network's leadership to more closely monitor Scarborough's comments. "The higher-ups are definitely aware about what's going on," said another person within MSNBC. "It's an issue."

Scarborough and NBC News declined to comment for this article. "Morning Joe," which airs weekday mornings, is followed closely by Washington and New York's political and media influencers, and is seen as a key platform for political figures.

Both Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski are close friends with Trump and members of his family.

Trump would probably say "no one's ever heard of" Mika Brzezinski. Morning Joe , I guess, was friendly to Trump before he publicly revealed himself to be a piece of shit political candidate.  So what? When they saw what he was they changed. What happened to the 74 million voters who went with him in the 2020 election (or 2016 election for that matter) after they saw what he was ?  Nothing.

The idea that somehow Mika Brzezinski deserves some sort of criticism concerning Trump is ridiculous.

Right. Trump was a completely different person when  Mika was his close friend.   Like most people, his personality wasn't really formed  until he was 70 years old. It suddenly did a 180 change the minute he clinched the Republican nomination and suddenly he was a monster who couldn't be Mika's friend.

But that is not reality.

Trump is the only announced GoP candidate and remains heavily in the news.   Trump just bumped his Big Lie campaign up a notch to challenge the CotUS.

This is not JR keeping Trump alive,  it is Trump stirring the embers which remain viable due to remaining supporters and those who defend Trump (including those who complain about those criticizing Trump).

The truth, if you were paying attention, is that Trump is an announced candidate for the GoP nomination for the presidency of the USA.   That he still has tens of millions of supporters (and more who would vote for him if nominated).

What is also the truth is that Trump engaged in wrongdoing during his Big Lie campaign and taking of TS/SCI documents.   His level of wrongdoing, coupled with his history, should convince any level-headed, rational mind that Trump should never be allowed within reach of the presidency (or, really, any public position of power).

The truth is that many continue to refuse to even acknowledge the aforementioned wrongdoing.   They continue to (pathetically) provide cover for Trump and in so doing enable him to continue within striking distance of the GoP nomination.

Finally, the truth is that Trump securing the GoP nomination will harm the GoP and his remaining support by the GoP continues to damage the GoP.   A good portion of the GoP membership is thus stupidly shooting their own foot.

I severely dislike Trump. Thing is I dislike Biden much much more than Trump! That is something some hard core leftist liberal Dems just cannot stand or wrap their heads around.

It is also something that non-partisans cannot wrap their heads around.

GoP voters need to take Trump off the table.   He cannot be a contingency if all else fails.   He should never be allowed to be in a position of political power and certainly never the presidency.    What more do people need to understand of Trump before they realize that their energies should be focused on ensuring a much better nominee emerges for the GoP?

Ditch Trump.   Relegate him to irrelevance by detaching him entirely from the GoP.

By the way, and for different reasons, I make a similar recommendation to the D party regarding Biden.    But the Biden problem (for the Ds) is mild compared to the Trump problem (for the GoP).
