Trump hits out at ‘degenerate’ Manhattan DA with baseball bat post
After posting an image in which he appeared to wield a baseball bat beside Mr Bragg’s head, he later called him a “degenerate psychopath” while proclaiming no crime had been committed and warned of “potential death and destruction” if he is charged.

Donald Trump   continues to ratchet up violent rhetoric and lash out on social media at New York County District Attorney   Alvin Bragg   who is leading the probe into hush money payments allegedly made to   Stormy Daniels .

After posting an image in which he appeared to   wield a baseball bat beside Mr Bragg’s head,   he later called him a   “degenerate psychopath”   while proclaiming no crime had been committed and warned of   “potential death and destruction”   if he is charged.

Mr Bragg has said that the former president sparked a “false” indictment expectation as the grand jury skipped its hearing on the matter   on Thursday .

In a letter   responding to the Republican House judiciary committee chairs, the general counsel for the Manhattan DA’s office said that their demand for documents “only came after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day and his lawyers reportedly urged you to intervene. Neither fact is a legitimate basis for congressional inquiry”.

What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely hates the USA!

I think Bragg's main worry continues to be getting his staff and the Grand Jury to go along with his "case."

Let us know when he finally gets them on board.

The state of New York is potentially bringing a case that could very well be lost.  Worse, it has nothing to do with Trump's behavior as PotUS.

Do you think Trump should be held accountable (in a fair and just manner) for his actions during his Big Lie campaign?   Actions such as attempted coercion (e.g. Raffensperger, Bowers, Pence) and his false claims of election fraud and voter disenfranchisement that raised the emotions of his supporters and then his refusal (for three hours) to lift a finger to mitigate the insurrection (albeit he tweeted disparaging words about Pence during the insurrection)?

Do you remember the days following his election in 2016?

Start here:

"In January 2017, Reps. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., Barbara Lee, D-Calif., Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Jim McGovern, D-Mass., all objected to electoral votes for Trump."

You are skipping over the other portion of your factless post.

Not only has he not been found guilty of a crime, he has also NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH ANY CRIME. Those are two different things. Evert conservative on here has said that if he if charged with something, and there is overwhelming evidence....not a leftist's feelings.......then we do think that he should pay the consequences.

No one is defending Trump. What is being felt by those on the left that feel this way is the rabid TDS ravaging their bodies and believe Trump is guilty of absolutely EVERYTHING the left thinks he has done......not what he has actually done.

We are simply pointing out that TDS and are trying to get those inflicted with it to concentrate on other events. Trump is not the only thing going right now.

A little friendly advice.

When Trump is actually CHARGED with something, then your incessant question can come back because THEN it will be relevant. Demanding it now to get an answer that is acceptable is only stroking the ego.

Jon Stewart was on with Fareed Zakaria GPS this morning and he made this observation: "Either [this nation] has a rule of law or it does not have a rule of law." Profound. Republican politicians are denying Trump the justice he deserves and is abusive of the rule of law! It would seem that the whole of the country can be served up justice in a court of law before Donald Trump (a noun, a verb, and former president of the United States) can be removed from the RNC candidate roll.

There is not a damn thing special about Donald Trump, because he is a propped up and standing because of people who want to take and keep others of their fellow citizens CHAINED to a backward-looking version of the American experiment. If this nation's best future is more like the past it properly decries and once or so apologized for then woe is us.

Again, we either have a rule of law or we don't have a rule of law! Follow the damn law and the spirit of the law. Or, don't be surprised or perplexed when the remainder of the people lose faith in our system of laws wholly.

Right. We have Rule of Law!

perjury
pûr′jə-rē

noun

  1. The crime of willfully and knowingly making a false statement about a material fact while under oath.
  2. An act of committing such a crime.
  3. The violation of any oath, vow, or solemn affirmation; specifically, in law, the wilful utterance of false testimony under oath or affirmation, before a competent tribunal, upon a point material to a legal inquiry.

Get out of the 'silo' - bucking the system just because one can does not make it worthwhile, helpful, or true.

Sean, again you are being inconsistent as a conservative. Perjury is a crime and some conservatives can not 'call it out' if there is no charge brought. Do you have a charge against Hillary Clinton or is it merely a conservative talking point? Do produce whatsoever it is you have so we can revisit '98 intelligently.

So did Hillary. She even had people riot for her in DC and other cities right after the 2016 election. If you beleive Trump is "guilty " of this, then you believe Hillary is the same. Read the English Texan.

Maybe it is you that needs to learn to read English.

I answered your question as to whether I believe he was wrong in 1.1.36...THEN I said if he is found guilty, he needs to be held accountable.

Was YES three times not acceptable to you?

Did I need to write it 4, maybe 5 more times.

Jesus, TiG, get off of it. We have answered your questions and I for one refuse to do it again.

It is your feelings that are driving your decisions.

Another stupid claim.   Is it 'feeling' that it is wrong for Trump to lie to the world and claim that the USA electoral system is rigged, that Biden is not the legitimate PotUS, that his supporter's votes were disenfranchised?   Is it 'feeling' that it is wrong for a PotUS to suborn his own V.P. to commit an unconstitutional act?

Get a clue.

I answered your question as to whether I believe he was wrong in 1.1.36...THEN I said if he is found guilty, he needs to be held accountable.

I asked this:

TiG @1.1.8Do you think Trump should be held accountable (in a fair and just manner) for his actions during his Big Lie campaign?   Actions such as attempted coercion (e.g. Raffensperger, Bowers, Pence) and his false claims of election fraud and voter disenfranchisement that raised the emotions of his supporters and then his refusal (for three hours) to lift a finger to mitigate the insurrection (albeit he tweeted disparaging words about Pence during the insurrection)?

You answered with this:

Bugsy @1.1.36YES, YES AND YES AGAIN. If Trump is found guilty of a crime, then he should be held accountable.

So you want normal English readers to believe that your "Yes, Yes, ..." was answering my question.   That means you were saying that Trump should be held accountable for the actions I listed @1.1.8.

Then you immediately take it back and include the stipulation that Trump should be held accountable IF he is found guilty of a crime.

Should Trump be held accountable for his wrongdoings regardless of whether he is indicted and found guilty?

If he is wrong (and you claim that you consider it wrong for Trump to do what I listed) the he should be held accountable for his wrongdoing.   'Held accountable' in this case means bearing the blame for his wrongdoing and having people treat him accordingly.   One of the example treatments is to not support him for the GOP nomination.  Another proper treatment is to stop running interference for him ... stop defending / excusing him.

Last I understood, the word YES means exactly that. It means I agreed with him, but obviously, that would put an end to the argument and that would be devastating to those that argue for the sake of arguing.

I am curious as to what "consequences" are warranted if Trump is not indicted, nor is he found guilty if he is.

What I am seeing is someone that is letting feelings get the best and those motions are driving the need for public trial and findings of guilty, whether a court has done or not.

Trump watched Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot unfold on TV, ignored pleas to call for peace

WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) - Donald Trump sat for hours watching the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol unfold on live TV, ignoring pleas by his children and other close advisers to urge his supporters to stop the violence, witnesses told a congressional hearing on Thursday.

The House of Representatives Select Committee used its eighth hearing this summer to detail what members said was Trump's refusal to act for the 187 minutes between the end of his inflammatory speech at a rally urging supporters to march on the Capitol, and the release of a video telling them to go home.

"President Trump sat at his dining table and watched the attack on television while his senior-most staff, closest advisors and family members begged him to do what is expected of any American president," said Democratic Representative Elaine Luria.

Elaine Luria did not make that up. That is what White House personnel who saw Trump testified to.

THEN I said that if he if found guilty of something, then he should be held accountable.

If you hold that Trump should be held accountable for wrongdoing alone then your second sentence is redundant.

Here, I will break it down:

  1. bugsy:  Trump should be held accountable for his actions during his Big Lie campaign
  2. bugsy:  If Trump is found guilty of something then he should be held accountable for his actions during his Big Lie campaign

Statement 1 establishes accountability on wrongdoing alone.   Statement 2 is thus redundant unless you are using statement 2 to qualify statement 1 (which would make sense).   You claim that you were not doing this thus statement 2 is redundant (and consequently suggests muddled thinking).

It is a common tactic for some to write vague language and then use same to try to wiggle out when caught.

When speaking of Trump, the standard Trump-defender argument is that he has not been found guilty of a crime.    The implication is that until Trump is found guilty of a crime, he has done no wrong.

My response is to state that legal guilt has not been established but that we can still opine on Trump's wrongdoing.

For example:  was it wrong for Trump to falsely declare to the planet that the USA electoral system is rigged, that Biden is not the legitimate PotUS and that his supporter's votes were disenfranchised?    Or, was it wrong for Trump to suborn his V.P. to table certified electoral votes in order for Trump to win by a plurality?   Or, was it wrong for Trump to let the insurrection ensue for three hours before telling his supporters to go home?

Typically, the "was it wrong ... " questions are immediately translated into "has Trump been found guilty ..." versions to avoid acknowledging Trump's wrongdoing.

You are claiming that those who criticize Trump's wrongdoing are just "feeling" and implying (obtusely) they are all claiming that Trump is legally guilty.

That is obvious made-up nonsense by you, et. al. to avoid acknowledging the wrongdoings of the most recent GOP PotUS.    You are doing just what I stated, replacing ' wrongdoing ' with ' legal guilt '.

You claim that my questions are answered.  Thus you (and you claim others) will answer YES to all these questions:

Was it wrong for Trump to try to overturn the results of the election using the authority of his office and against the Constitution?

Was it wrong for Trump to:

  • claim that he won the election but was cheated due to fraud in the US electoral system?
  • agitate his supporters into falsely thinking their votes were disenfranchised?
  • try to get officials (e.g.  Raffensperger) to 'find votes' so that he could win states he lost (e.g. Georgia)?
  • try to get state legislators to override the votes in their states (e.g. Michigan)?
  • try to get the Speaker of the AZ House (Bowers) to authorize fake electors?
  • try to suborn an unconstitutional act from his own V.P. — to get Pence to table counts of select states he lost to try to win through all other states?
  • encourage his supporters to fight against the 'fraud' and to protest the count (after months of working them up with lies of a fraudulent election)?
  • tweet that Pence had let them down in the middle of the insurrection?
  • refuse to take action to stop the insurrection for 3 hours?

Trump has not been indicted for any of the above and thus no trial and no verdict.   But the question of right vs. wrong can be a topic of discussion and people can still opine on whether they believe it was right (or wrong) for Trump to do the above.

Do you answer these questions all with YES?    I expect replies to include equivocation, deflection to Biden / Clinton, snark, etc.

from the eastman memo, which Donald Trump approved

1. VP Pence, presiding over the joint session (or Senate Pro Tempore Grassley, if Pence recuses himself), begins to open and count the ballots, starting with Alabama (without conceding that the procedure, specified by the Electoral Count Act, of going through the States alphabetically is required).

2. When he gets to Arizona, he announces that he has multiple slates of electors, and so is going to defer decision on that until finishing the other States. This would be the first break with the procedure set out in the Act.

3. At the end, he announces that because of the ongoing disputes in the 7 States, there are no electors that can be deemed validly appointed in those States. That means the total number of “electors appointed” – the language of the 12th Amendment -- is 454. This reading of the 12th Amendment has also been advanced by Harvard Law Professor Laurence Tribe (here). A “majority of the electors appointed” would therefore be 228. There are at this point 232 votes for Trump, 222 votes for Biden. Pence then gavels President Trump as re-elected.

Inside the Oval Office, with the countdown on to 6 January, Trump urged Pence to listen closely to Eastman. “This guy’s a really respected constitutional lawyer,” the president said, according to the book  I Alone Can Fix It .

Here is the big deal.   When people speak of what Trump had done wrong you will often see 'rebuttals' of the form:

  • So where is the indictment?
  • What jury has found him guilty?

I have YET to see anyone here say that Trump should go unpunished for any crimes he may have committed.

Not the claim; I have never stated that someone here has claimed that Trump should go unpunished for crimes.   Yet again, you engage in dishonesty.   Instead of wrongdoing you leap to crimes.   Just amazing that you think this fools people.

I have asked about Trump's wrongdoing, not about his legal guilt in a crime.

You are doing a fine job of proving to readers that what I stated is accurate.

Bragg is just trying to further his own political career by trying to satisfy the TDS-sufferers bloodlust for Trump.

My guess, and I am usually correct, is Bragg is trying to indict because Soros financed his campaign with the promise that he would at least indict Trump.

Bragg is stuck now knowing that his attempt is weak, but he is under the thumb of Soros with the promise to indict.

It is strategically stupid for Bragg's to be the first case to bring against Trump.   Far better to bring the DoJ case or at least the State of GA because both of those deal with Trump's behavior as PotUS (and both seem to be substantially stronger).

Of the three, this is the best case for Trump.   Hard to imagine that Soros wants to help make Trump look like a martyr and drain political capital from the DoJ and State of GA cases.

Do you think the other cases are weaker??    Further, this case has nothing to do with the presidency so it is bad for the nation to potentially harm the cases that do deal with the presidency and the horrible precedent.

This case could rally  Trump support in the primary and then kill him in the general.

Yes it would rally Trump support.   This is the best case for Trump since it would make him a martyr.    If Soros is strictly thinking politically then this would be the best case to bring since it arguably helps Trump win the nomination or at least shore up his power as a spoiler.

Personally, I do not care as much about the politics as I do the horrible precedent the lingers as long as Trump is not held accountable for his Big Lie actions.

Which "whites" do you have in mind? BTW, I know what "thug" is used to insinuate. It is deployed as code-talk to  "dub" blacks in general as thieves, liars, and cheats. And for your information, white people are not new to me. Indeed, some of my best friends are White people.  (My neighbor across the street is White and I talk and socialize with him and his wife, and we help each other as often as we can. I have Filipino neighbors and Mexican Neighbors and Jordanian neighbors too! Of course, I am not the only Black household here.) So, I ask good questions and get good answers (something I don't/can't always get in this setting.)

The 'problem' for you, if it is one, is you have the audacity to try to project a conservative use of the pejorative "thug" for people some conservatives dislike, okay - detest- as something liberals do. And that is a rank lie.

More to the point, were any liberal/progressive or any such class of people I know ever to call me or mine, "thugs," I would tell each and every one of them to kiss my (black). . .foot!

First of all, MAGA people have to turn their back to him. This has yet to happen much at all. Also, the mainstream media should comment openly on the fact that he is a malignant aberration on our society. The media tends to do "both sides" which in effect normalizes Trump by suggesting that his opponents and detractors also have similar behavior and actions like he does. "Both sides-ism" has done more to keep Trump going than anything. We see it here every day when people claim that partisanship on both sides is the problem we face today. While that is abstractly true, the serious problem is Trump and trumpism, not "the squad". There is no equivalence between the two.

Nationally known Republican leaders like McConnell , Romney, Susan Collins, George W Bush, Marco Rubio, etc should specifically say that Trump is a danger to our system and he needs to drop out of the race today. And those statements should get widespread publicity. We also need evangelical Christian leaders to come to their senses and denounce him strongly.

In the end it all comes down to the MAGA though. They created this monster and they need to reject it now.

It is amazing how some people want to subvert the election process because of fear or hate, The rules are quite simple, if you meet the qualification and get enough votes you win the primary, you then face off against the winners of the other primaries. the person who then wins the most electoral votes becomes president. The fact there are some hell bent on subverting this process is quite telling on where their loyalities might lie. The investigation of this issue predates concerns about the 2024 election. Trump hoped that him running for president would protect him from prosecution and you are ready to give him what he wants.

Your comments are out in far right field.

Only because you are so far in left field- that anything to the right of you looks like right field.

If I told you the truth I would get suspended.

Go for it! We could all use a good laugh.

You are an exhibit A as to why Trump can continue to have MAGA followers.

No that would be Brandon and the Democrats. Who seem to have a very unhealthy obsession with all thing Trump. They are doing a great job of making sure Trump is the Republican nominee. Could it be that Democrats feel Trump is the only person their Human Fuck Up Machine can beat in a general election?

That's exactly what the former 'president' and his supporters/enablers are doing - using/spreading/sowing fear and hate and attempted/tried to subvert the election process through incitement of his failed insurrection/coup . . .

The projection is unfuckingreal

Well there is such a thing here as a private note. Have at it if you are so inclined.

And he can have all the followers he can muster. I am not necessarily one of them. You and your ilk are trying to make it so a legitimate man cannot run for president because he hurts your fragile sensibilities. And THAT isn't my problem either.

I won't vote for the man but I am so FUCKING tired of the continual bashing and bringing him to the forefront like you do every God Damned day. Yes, the press does all they can, as they did in '15-'16 to garner him dislike but how did that work out in 2016? If no one would pay attention, hopefully he would go away.

I am just tired of sycophants with nothing better to do but dwell on Trump 24/7/365. It's bullshit and all it is doing is endearing him more just like it did in the past. And you are as guilty as anyone with your "Trump Took a Shit at 9:00AM, film at 11:00. You are not going to change any minds and for you to continue to try is praise worthy while at the same time, a rather futile attempt that may affect you in ways you don't want it to.

What fucking system are you talking about? Nothing fell apart. Not a damned thing.

The GOP has visibly become dysfunctional.   There is part of the "fucking" system.   But the system of which I speak is our overall system which includes everything from campaigning, elections and governance.

And no deflection. That you don't like the answer is not my problem.

A lame cliché.   You deflected.   Probably because you realize you cannot offer a strong rebuttal.

That sounds like one of those "he's going to" speculation things.

I gave you an example so that you could comprehend what I meant by "spoiler".   You ask a question and then complain when I answer with clarity.

What damage came of supporting a lying narcissist? Elaborate please. Your generalizations are quite boring.

You game of obtuseness is lame.   Now you will simply keep asking the same question and pretend you have not had an answer.   I suspect you are not fooling anyone.

And again, what harm to our system? Should be easy for you to answer. In my world, things are just fine and have gone on from day to day. System INTACT!

Again, our system needs to dissuade politicians from lying and manipulating circumstances for their own personal benefit.   Trump's actions, if he is not held accountable, exacerbate the extant problem of political deception/manipulation and corruption.   It encourages people to cry fraud when the lose elections, to engage in frivolous lawsuits, to attempt to coerce officials in order to steal an election, etc.   Bad behavior without accountability lowers the bar and allows more of same.

Opinions do vary.

I haven't seen a  convincing answer. Only a feeeelings driven one.

And that hurts you how? It doesn't. Because you wouldn't be involved in ANY of it. Therefore it seems you consider yourself a saviour of sorts trying to save people from what you perceive is a problem they have when indeed, it is your problem. No one else's.

Remember when Kathy Griffin held up a fake head with trmp's face on it? Remember the condemnation she rec'd for it?

We all remember the photo.  Most of us also remember several prominent liberal figures defending her over it.

Many people also remember her reposting it in 2020 and recanting her previous apology.

Isn't that photo considered a legitimate threat? Isn't it illegal?

Good question.  I'm not sure what NY law has to say about that.

Who said the surgeon let me go?

I worked for the plastic surgeon a long time ago - long before my position at the University of Maryland where I would have been there 19 years this February.

When I worked for this plastic surgeon - it was front and back office and we assisted in the surgeries which he did in his office surgery which included mini face lifts, etc., etc. and I also was the transcriptionist for his charts and letters and notes.

I was in too much pain to care...well I was fine after the spinal block with the first one but the second one was just an epidural which they gave me when I went into labor. I was trying to give birth without another C-Section (that didn't work out). So they wheeled me into surgery and didn't bother to top off the epidural.
