First black American President, first black Asian American Vice President, first female vice President, out of the 141 women elected to congress last election 105 are Democrats, of the 25 African American women elected all of them were Democrats along with 36 Hispanic members and 17 Asian American members in the house and Senate. Clearly they are not tokens, they are the Democratic party.
This is not "affirmative action", it's accepting that we have enough white male conservative Christians on the supreme court and need some diversity to maintain any semblance of balance and objectivity.

He's certainly a 'token' for white conservative Christians as he clearly meets the definition of "serving as a visible or tangible representation" for white conservatives, otherwise you wouldn't have dragged him out as some "but we have a black justice" defense.
Just because one party is busy trying to change the status quo doesn't mean the status quo has been changed.
My post points out why the minorities in America tend to flock to the Democratic party, a party that empowers them and supports them to get elected and effect change.
Clearly there are some conservatives choosing to eat their own asses, fortunately their apparent tooth deficiency prevents them from doing much damage.

Anyone with more than half a brain and isn't an irrational bigot recognizes that intentionally supporting diversity to create better representation for all Americans isn't just simply "affirmative action", it's a necessary and logical step towards equality and the more perfect union our founders envisioned. The irrational dip shit bigots of course would only see it as 'taking' something from them because equal rights to them means their assumed 'right' to be more special than other Americans is being eroded by those they have traditionally suppressed.
It's no wonder so many right wing white conservatives are so bitter at seeing a black female judge appointed to the Supreme court since they apparently can't imagine she would be fair in her judgement of white conservative Christian ideology that comes before the court.
