My parents owned a golf condo at Hollybrook, west of Hollywood, Fla. that my brother and I eventually inherited, but it was not nearly as nice as your detached home. Question: Who cuts the grass?
I hope there is a fence so she doesn't get swallowed by an alligator.
My Friends in Ft Myers used the electronic fencing instead of the regular type fencing so that it would not detract from the view from their backyard. There was a large pool just a few feet at the end of their backyard, and there were 'gators found in the pool now and then. They would lay in the pool and watch their dogs run around in the yard, but, would not venture to go after them. The shock from the electronic fence was a good deterrent to the 'gators and other wild critters.
However, with Wiki, it might be the 'gator that would wind up getting the worst end of the deal. (grin)

When we first moved in Wiki wanted to know if there were any badgers. When I told her there were not she wanted to know who was the baddest in the valley. I told her the alligators, soon after that all the alligators left the area....
One that side of the house the number of windows is somewhat limited. But the big one is over the sink so when your in the kitchen you have a beautiful view of the side yard..
The back of the house is a huge sliding glass door looking out at the forest and also from the master bedroom. The den in the front of the house has a very large double windows as do the other two bedrooms.....
We are inland so hurricanes aren't much of a problem here.
And this is the homecoming of my other two grandkitties, who belong to my other daughter. I think they looked like they are in a yellow submarine! A boy and a girl, still unnamed.
Your photos are really causing me to miss having a cat for so long. My wife is not comfortable with animals. When I first saw the photo of the "twins" I thought they had been put into a washing machine. LOL
Yup. That's at Brighton Beach in Duluth. One of my favorite Lake spots. There were a lot of people out there last Saturday walking around, ice fishing and taking photo. At one point though I found myself past my knees in snow on that uneven ice.
Yeah you get on the leeward side of Michigan or Superior and the ice can really pile up in lots of interesting ways.
Happens every once in awhile here East and West bay of Lake Michigan as well. This year will be no exception to that. Both bays frozen out to Lake Michigan this year. Which doesn't really happen often or for long when it does.
The first two are great comparison shots of similar outcroppings - the second clear as glass. Two questions about the third one: What is the person in the background doing, and what is that object in the front? Fourth shot - friend or spouse?
Yes, that guy seems to have the correct stance for checking his cellphone. But in front, that looks like a stack of blocks of ice, and if so perhaps cut by an ice house for cold storage. Am I right?
The foreground stack of ice is odd and cool, which is why I took a shot of it. It's natural though - pushed up with all the others close to the shoreline.
As promised here earlier, here are two of my own Native American images. They are not photos, they are created on the computer. These and many others have been shared with folks in the Anishinaabe group for a few years. This is the first time I have posted them outside the Anishinaabe group. I hope folk here will enjoy them as well.
All rights reserved. Do not copy or reproduce without permission.
FINALLY, after how many times have I had to coax you to post them here? Those two are magnificent, and a wonderful addition to this CREATIVE ARTS group - creative treasures.
Hi Buzz....and yes, you did ask me several times to post them here. However, I hesitated because I was not sure how others here might feel about Native American representation. Or that not being photos but created on my computer they would not be considered the kind of art this group represented.
After also hearing from Mac asking that I post my creations more often I will be mot happy to share them with the folks here in this group as well.
I find your two images to be extraordinary in their subject portrayal, powerful compositions, intense, meaningful color choices and coordinations, unique content and sheer power!
We are honored with the sharing of such gifted artistry!
Thank you for your very kind compliments Mac. I am most honored that my creations are to the liking of the group, and are acceptable in relation to the theme of the group.
Native American artwork is unique in its own way, and somewhat unique in relation to each Tribe. I do my best to try and express that uniqueness.
Thank you for your very kind compliments. I use a combination of PowerPoint and CorelDraw to create my artwork. I also like to use images of Mother Earth as my backgrounds, such as various types and colors of wood burls, and the mystical images of The Wave located in Arizona.
When I decide on an image, which depends on what I am looking for at that time, and get it to my liking, I then use that to determine the background to use which will help to not only enhance the image, but, also help the impact of the overall image I want. The combining of the two is essential in how it tells the story I want to express.
Each Native American Tribe has their own customs, traditions, Spiritual and religious beliefs, and ways of life. Yet, in many ways, they are very similar. I do my best to help tell their own story.
I'm really pleased with the Thursday/Friday response this time - 7 persons posting pictures (including artworks - I'm so glad to see them), and at this point over 50 comments. Could it be because I sent a group message provoking the members?
Glad to view such a successful discussion; it may certainly have to do with the group message, and, it may also be that the many political rants I have posted over time ... have turned people away.
Muva...I am sending prayers for your wife, and hope that she will recover soon. The unknown causes are hard to deal with, so hopefully, they will find the cause of the internal bleeding soon and help her recover he health.
When I was a kid, and I ever read or heard the word "boxing" spoken, the name "Rocky Marciano" is what that word meant to me. Thanks for posting those photos, your story, and reviving those memories.
This is one of my wife’s perfume bottles. I walk by it every day and the unique way it reflects light always catches my eye. I can’t explain why it reflects a concentric rainbow, but the colors are not on the bottle, they are from the reflection of the flash.
That's really beautiful, and amazing that is displays such a rainbow of colors when there are no colors on the bottle itself. Thank you for sharing this unusual image with us.
It’s Taylor Swift. I went to buy her some perfume years ago. Knowing nothing about buying perfume, I became quickly nauseated after smelling several of them consecutively, and just picked this one because the bottle was cool. It actually smells quite nice too. Lol.
I have a few a friend of mine took a few years ago while crewing at a Trans Am race at Sebring. I think he had a good sense of motorsports art.
This is one of my favorite pictures. It is Johnny Miller in what has to be considered a clinic in counter steering his Jag. The car is going to the right while the front wheels are pointed to the left. Something done subtly on concrete and asphalt circuit racing.
This Viper, piloted by Tommy Archer was always one of the more beautiful cars, yet sadly was running out of sponsorship and therefore competitiveness.
My friend crewed on this car, the Banner Engineering/Trop Arctic Corvette owned and piloted by Leighton Reese. If I am not mistaken, this is the year they became a consistent top 5 finisher. Came in 2nd or 3rd in the standings that year.
Then, of course, no Trans Am race of the era would be complete without a photo of the unflappable and always cheerful Boris Said.
A super addition to the group - I've always loved looking at special cars and I know a lot of others do as well. In fact at one time I created a "Classic Cars" group, but it eventually was ignored so I deleted it.
Thank you Buzz, much appreciated. I have had those photos for quite a while, but seldom get a chance to share the. This looked as good an opportunity as any.
BTW, for anyone who may be familiar with Boris, my comments were a little tongue in cheek. He could get a little wound up from time to time.
Okay, Kavika, of course that is artwork, but since you posted that, I'm posting the back of the jacket I always proudly wear to this day. It was given to me for volunteering at Toronto's "Na-Me-Res" (Native Men's Residence). You may recall seeing a photo of me cooking up a huge pot of spaghetti and meat sauce in the kitchen there, to serve to the residents. The images are symbolic. The two feathered headdresses form the wings of the Eagle, or Thunderbird, which is holding the peace pipe in its claws. Displayed on the bird's body is a cup of soup being handed from one to another, which is what the words "Street Help" is all about. Volunteers drove a van loaded with a big pot of hot soup, blankets, mittens and tuques around the city, stopping to provide warmth and sustenance to homeless people, among them being many natives.
Sure can...As you can see it's themed based on Indians...Ken Bayer, myself and two others were American Indians so there were no insults involved. We took the name of the ''lost tribe'' since at the time we didn't have any sponsors and we couldn't absorb the costs without sponsors..After the people started to see the T Shirts and logo Butch and Ken started getting phones calls and we ended up with a number of sponsors for the car and team.
At the Pomona Nationals (Pomona CA) we were walking across the parking lot and a few of us had the T shirts on. A young lady came up to us and told us we were insulting Indians. We appreciated what she was trying to do but looking at Ken, myself and a couple of the other guys it would be difficult not to see that we were Indians...LOL we were easy on her since we did appreciate that she would take on a group of guys all alone defending Indians...After a conversation she understood that we were indeed Indians and the logo wasn't a bad thing...
It was funny to us, but we all agreed that it took some backbone for a lone young women to walk up to a group, six or so, not angelic looking guys and take them to task for what she thought was a racist shirt.
In the late 70's early 80's I first met Ken Bayer. At the time is was a barber and a real renaissance man. He was a artist that did stain glass windows and became quite famous on the West Coast and Hawaii...(another story)...We connected since we were both natives. He started telling me about working with Butch Blair and the top fuel dragsters. That was interesting to me so I got to met the whole team. Soon I was getting interested in the sport and thought if there was anything I could do to help the team and get some sponsors. I was able to get connections to some companies that I thought might be interested in being a sponsor...It just went from there.
I left in the mid 90's since I had other businesses and was doing a lot of world wide travel. Butch is still racing to this day. Ken retired around 2012 or 13 and still lives in Long Beach CA.
Very good experience. It is amazing how connections can happen and result in life time memories. What a turn of events that brought the group of you together and were able to do something bringing focus to the Native peoples. Those are good ones Kavika.
To this day, there is still a lot of automotive interest in that part of Cali. For example, I use JE and CP (a JE breakaway in the 90s) in Huntington Beach for custom piston designs and manufacture.
About 100 members listed on the Creative Arts group. Are there only a few creative members who post anything, and most others have little or no interest in what's posted? What a shame.
This is Reba, her story is on the FP.....
I never thought I could like a Pit Bull until I read that story and saw that photo.
Well if your going to show off with photos of your living arrangements, I have to do the same.
This is a photo of the back of my house...LOLOLOL, not very exciting.
My parents owned a golf condo at Hollybrook, west of Hollywood, Fla. that my brother and I eventually inherited, but it was not nearly as nice as your detached home. Question: Who cuts the grass?
I have a service that cuts the grass and edging ...I do the weeding and trimming of the plants.
Are you allowed to grow a garden? Flowers? Vegetables (although that would require a fence)? Are there any alligators in the area?
There are no alligators in the area and yes, you can have a fence.
Beautiful home, Kavika! Love the little shrubs around the house. Bellissimo!!
And a huge lawn for Wiki to run around on.
I didn't see any fence around the yard. I wonder if they have an electronic fence like some friends I know who live in Ft Myers FL.
Now that I think about it, if Wiki is going to run around free I hope there is a fence so she doesn't get swallowed by an alligator.
My Friends in Ft Myers used the electronic fencing instead of the regular type fencing so that it would not detract from the view from their backyard. There was a large pool just a few feet at the end of their backyard, and there were 'gators found in the pool now and then. When we first moved in Wiki wanted to know if there were any badgers. When I told her there were not she wanted to know who was the baddest in the valley. I told her the alligators, soon after that all the alligators left the area....
Who is the baddest dudette in the valley...LOL
Wiki has plenty of area to guard. This is a aerial view of the house showing a huge side and back yard.
Wiki, of course.
There don't seem to be many windows. Is that because of hurricanes?
One that side of the house the number of windows is somewhat limited. But the big one is over the sink so when your in the kitchen you have a beautiful view of the side yard..
The back of the house is a huge sliding glass door looking out at the forest and also from the master bedroom. The den in the front of the house has a very large double windows as do the other two bedrooms.....
We are inland so hurricanes aren't much of a problem here.
So this is one new grandson, Finn
And Wally giving him a much needed bath
And this is the homecoming of my other two grandkitties, who belong to my other daughter. I think they looked like they are in a yellow submarine! A boy and a girl, still unnamed.
Your photos are really causing me to miss having a cat for so long. My wife is not comfortable with animals. When I first saw the photo of the "twins" I thought they had been put into a washing machine. LOL
Any news about Wally?
These fur babies are all adorable. And Wally keeps them in line. (smile)
Some Lake Superior ice.
Boy, i drove by that view many times.
Thanks for rekindling those memories!
Reminds me of driving up the North Shore Dr. on the MN side.
Outstanding photos EG.
Yup. That's at Brighton Beach in Duluth. One of my favorite Lake spots. There were a lot of people out there last Saturday walking around, ice fishing and taking photo. At one point though I found myself past my knees in snow on that uneven ice.

Thanks Buzz. In that third shot some random guy is looking at his smart phone. That last shot is my girlfriend. We've been together for 19 years.
Now, we're getting ready to smudge - right???
As said by the "King of the World".
LOL, OK King.
Although I've witnessed a smudge ceremony, no cats were involved, but from this one's colour it seems to have been too close to many of them.

Raven,
Your artwork is outstanding. Both your artistry and topic matter is beautifully expressed. What medium do you use? What inspires a specific piece?
Hi Perrie,
Thank you for your very kind compliments. I use a combination of PowerPoint and CorelDraw to create my artwork. I also like to use images of Mother Earth as my backgrounds, such as various types and colors of wood burls, and the mystical images of The Wave located in Arizona.

Stopping in today just to stay connected albeit minimally. It's good to see participation and dialogue here.
I never appreciated "normalcy in one's life" as I do today.
I am rethinking many aspects of life these days.
Continued success with this, Buzz!
Sorry to hear about your wife MUVA...Best wishes and a speedy recovery.
I can both sympathize and empathize, MUVA; I wish you the best.
Muva...I am sending prayers for your wife, and hope that she will recover soon. The unknown causes are hard to deal with, so hopefully, they will find the cause of the internal bleeding soon and help her recover he health.
I hope they find the reason soon, and that she has a quick recovery.
Muva, you have many friends here, and let's hope that the vibrations of all of us wishing your wife well will have a healing effect.
I hope for a full and quick recovery
No way. Your political rants have NOTHING to do with your artistic talent. Members on both sides of the aisle come to this group.
My Uncle !
He Knew Rocky Marciano Personally !

"Wonderstruck".....good name.....at least on regards to the bottle.
Thanks for sharing the view of the entire bottle, very pretty.
A lot of nice images here.

Not sure if this qualifies as art but this is a T Shirt and logo for the Butch Blair/Ken Bayer Top Fuel racing team.
It's probably a collectors item now and was designed in the 1990's...There is a interesting story that goes with this T shirt.
That's a great looking shirt Kavika.
Are you able to share the story behind it?
That's a really cool looking T-shirt! And I like how the car is designed on it. Thank you for sharing it.
Okay, Kavika, of course that is artwork, but since you posted that, I'm posting the back of the jacket I always proudly wear to this day. Great story Kavika. Really enjoyed it.
Thank you.
Now, here come the next question. How did you get involved in Top Fuel?
In the late 70's early 80's I first met Ken Bayer. At the time is was a barber and a real renaissance man. He was a artist that did stain glass windows and became quite famous on the West Coast and Hawaii...(another story)...We connected since we were both natives. T/Y.
I lived in Huntington Beach for years and years...In fact I still own a home there...Small world.
The Fooz shop is in HB. He does some awesome custom cars.
Very nice. I liked the area the last time I was there. Had breakfast at a coffee shop sort of atop a hill within eye shot of the beach.
Then on the way to the plane nearly walked over top of Jaime Lee Curtis...Opps!!! Missed her by "that much".
Yes he does. He is an artist.
LOL, ''that much'' is only good in horse shoes and hand grenades...
LOL. We sat right across from her on the way back to Dulles. Not sure if she thought I was a homicidal maniac or not.
Of course you know, a Pro Stock engine builder will tell you those Top Fuel guys design engines backwards. LOL.
Seems like an appropriate moment to post these.
