My Nikon D500 can shoot 10 frames per second ... and it is advantageous to pre-focus on a feeder or flower or any point where a hummingbird is anticipated to hover ... saving a fraction of a second before clicking the shutter release can make the difference between getting the shot or not.

Mac, you must have a quick draw camera, humming birds only stay in one position for a few seconds at a time and only when they're feeding.
