Finds in Israel demonstrate worship of divine couple

This is a great find, but it should not surprise anyone that the goddess is referenced throughout the OT, including as the "wife" of god. There are other paired fertility deities in the OT if a person is reading with an open mind. In Genesis, there are multiple references to multiple deities. Those references are carried forward into other books. Proverbs 8 has the goddess Wisdom speaking in the first person, discussing how she was there at creation.
The OT is a continuing commentary by the monotheists about their struggles to quash the polytheists. Their quest was never completely successful in stamping out the worship of other gods and goddesses, although they did succeed in writing the OT narrative as monotheists and in making the lives of others miserable.
