Controversial Pastor Terry Jones arrested before he could burn Qurans
Law enforcement officers arrested a Florida pastor Wednesday as he drove to a park to light nearly 3,000 Qurans on fire to protest the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Polk County sheriff's deputies arrested Pastor Terry Jones, 61, and his associate pastor, Marvin Sapp Jr., 44, each on a felony charge of unlawful conveyance of fuel as they traveled in a pickup truck towing a large barbecue-style grill filled with Qurans soaked in kerosene. Jones had doused the Qurans after he met Sapp at a McDonald's, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Wednesday night.
Sheriff's officials said that Jones was also charged with unlawful open-carry of a firearm, a misdemeanor, and that Sapp faces a charge of having no valid registration for the trailer.
When Jones got out of his vehicle at the McDonald's on State Road 60 in Mulberry he was openly carrying a firearm, Judd said.
As he prepared to go to the park to burn the Qurans as he said he was going to do in violation of the law, the next thing he did was opened up a drum, a container, that he towed behind his truck. And then he took kerosene and doused the Qurans in the parking lot of McDonalds," Judd said at a press conference. "The McDonalds manager came and told him to leave. Well, now what hes done is hes taken a flammable liquid from a legal container and put it or poured it into an illegal container."

This jackass is back at it. Apparently he doesn't care about how much violence he might instigate, by burning a religious doctrine because it promotes violence. Go figure. As I stated yesterday - religion represents the shortest distance between potential and stupidity.
The amazing thing is that if he burned a bible, no one would say a damned thing to him. We pander to the Muslims because we're afraid of what they might do and that we might offend them. How many times have we seen bibles being burned, comic depictions fo Jeses, Moses and God? Did anyone go assassinate George Burns for his protrayal? Morgan Freeman? Gary Larsen (far side cartoons that poked fun at everything including religion)? Sad that people are willing to kowtow so easily.
That he is a jack-ass is not in dispute. Nice pick on the charge....he should have not poured the Kerosene on them before taking driving them whereever.

It's funny how the only people you hear about burning religious doctrines, are religious people. You would think it would beus evil atheists out there trying to stamp out religion, but it's just not the case. We realize thatdelegitimizing religioncomes from within, andtrying to force it with stupid and reckless behavior rather than provocative discussion only serves to further galvanize those of unrelenting faith.
I'll stick with burning junk mail. It replenished itself, and nobody gives a shit when I do it. Well .... maybe corporations do, but fuck them.
