"Pedophelia Ring" in Evangelical Church? Ministry Accused of Ignoring Sexual Abuse.

Soverign Grace is not the first church to face cover-up allegations--and it probably won't be the last. On Hanuary lawsuit was amended to include Covenant Life Church (CLC).

I read the same thing today, from a different source; Unfortunately, it will get zero mainstream press because it's not catholic.

The victims are not important to the press, at least not in a day and age where people are so stupid they are attracted to sensationalism and salaciousness, which sells.

Wow. Reading this article, I know exactly where this church is located-- about one block from where my husband works, right behind Bachman Chevrolet. In fact, Bachman used to rent the building that this church is in-- or it is right next door, in the old Pitney Bowles Building.

The evangelical church moved to Louisville in April 2012, and according to the article, has had a lot of problems. According to their website, there is only one of these churches in KY, thank heavens.

Stuff like this makes me sick. The children are innocent, harmed in the name of whatever. I sincerely hope that they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and served with severe criminal & civil penalties, as a church. As far as the individuals involved, Hell Waits. Until then, send them all to prison-- except that they will do their best to spread their own crazy brand of 'faith' in the prisons, to people who are vulnerable.

Here is one of the articles in the Courier Journal about the minister charged with sexual abuse. Apparently, the departure of the Mahoney , the head of the church, was announced March 8. There are just a whole SLEW of articles about the church in the Courier Journal ... UGH!

Why did they have to come here? Did they think they could get away with it here? Frown.gif

Much does not get any attention on the mainstream media, for example, this incident - Evangelist's compound raided in child abuse case ; " Federal and state police raided an evangelist's compound in Arkansas late Saturday to investigate whether any children have been physically or sexually abused, officials said."

As a followup to that, Cult Leader Tony Alamo Sentenced for Sex Crimes (you will note all references to him being an Evangelist has been stripped) Also note; " Alamo regularly condemned Catholicism and the Pope as well as writing about many perceived satanic conspiracy theories ."

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

For starters, while I respect those who consider the bible as a religious article of their faith and find certain tomes within it, to contain sage wisdom and knowledge, it is not something I believe in so I would really have no opinion, one way or the other, as to how it is interpreted.

My point however, has to do with how this event was reported. From his arrest and up to his trial, Tony Almano's mission was referred to as being "Evangelical" in it's Christian association. As soon as the trial began, it was referred to as a "cult." Why and by whose definition?

The same thing happened to the "Branch Davidians", whom were an offshoot of the Christian "Seventh-day Adventist Church", were referred to as a cult only after the trouble started at their compound in Waco, Texas. What is or isn't a "cult" is far too subjective. I've seen good logical arguments stating that all organized religions are cults, so who's to say?

The problem here isn't the reporters, per se, it's the editors at the various media outlets who make those changes and base them on the demographics of their readership as opposed to any accuracy or facts that end up being distorted. Aside from wanting to increase readership they also do not want to offend their core readers whom may not want their particular faith associated with things such as sexual child abuse, however factual as it really is.
