P HILADELPHIA  — It's Day 1 of the  Democratic National Convention  in Philadelphia  Monday and among the list of speakers to kick off the event is 2016 presidential hopeful  Bernie Sanders. After the recent release of the Wikileaks DNC emails and an outpouring of support. Senator Sanders will announce his third party bid for President of the United States. .

Sanders scored a prime-time speaking slot and will be the  second-to-last person  to address the convention. The DNC hasn't released said exactly what time Sanders will speak, but he's near the end of the night's program, so it will most likely be in the coveted 10 to 11 p.m. slot.

He is now scheduled to speak before First Lady Michelle Obama.

DNC 2016 (07/25/16)

The shocking announcement comes on the heels of internal Democratic controversy.

The party chairwoman,  Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, announced her resignation  as head of the Democratic National Committee Sunday.

She acted after  leaked emails showed  her and other Democratic leaders actively backing former Clinton against Sanders, who was seeking the Democratic nod for president.

Sanders said he was "motivated to represent his supporters by the recent revelations"

Earlier this month, the Vermont senator  endorsed former Secretary of State   Hillary Clinton  with the help of the DNC ended his surprisingly strong insurgent campaign. Now his campaign is preparing to continue. "We will not be silenced by the corruption in the Democratic National Committee." said Sanders.

"I intend to do everything I can to win the Presidency for my supporters and country," said Sanders.

Philadelphia is hosting the DNC a week after the GOP gathered in Cleveland for the  Republican National Convention  and formally nominated  Donald Trump .

Here's how to watch tonight's DNC coverage:

• ABC, CBS, NBC: Live coverage 10 to 11 p.m. (ET)

• CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel start coverage at 4 p.m. (ET)

• C-SPAN:   Live coverage from 3 p.m. to midnight. (ET)

Your day late and a dollar short article might have been interesting had not Sanders voiced unequivocal support for Clinton/Kaine in an address to some of his followers a few hours ago.

You mean the address where his supporters shouted him down when he tried to tell them to support Hillary?

"Your day late and a dollar short..."

That's what happens when you rely on unreliable sources and are not capable of using reasonable logic to understand what you're reading.

The people who traveled to Philadelphia are the Sanders die hards. They don't represent most Sanders supporters. And in most cases are not even Democrats.

I mean even the mainstream Democrats appear to be done with her.

Of course, when you get caught, .... you're done.

Those that follow the crazy political agendas the go on in this country knew Wasser-Shultz and company were not supporting Sanders. The Donald would have eaten him alive. Also, the dollars being wasted on Sanders will be needed in the general to support Hillary.

Jerry, You know I have to agree with you, we have both seen it happen in real time from inside the campaigns.

Everyone fudges the scale in a campaign, when caught you fall on your sword. Such is understood when you go into such work.

My only wonder is Hillary going to hang on to her or dump her like I'm sure the advisors are haranguing her to do.

AS far as Bernie......

All the polling info I've seen and reviewed had Sanders beating Trump by 15-20%, Sanders beating Cruz by 8-12%.

It also showed Cruz beating Hillary by 6-12% and then comes the matchup we have it has always showed Hillary and the Donald in a dead heat.

I've been reading the dailies for well over a year. (don't have access to them anymore)

I was prepared to tell everyone that if Sanders won the nomination, America was going to, in historic fashion, elect it's first socialist president.

Hilary is a loser against anyone but Trump. Bernie would have been a winner against anyone.

But we will never know, cause like the Republican establishment last cycle killed off the popular candidate that would have won hands down, so have the democrats done the same this time around.

Remember all those saying four years ago that what happened to Ron Paul would never happen in the democrat party?

Well it has been revealed that it just did.

Neither party represents American citizens anymore and I think we have the worst two candidates ever in presidential election history.

Just my experienced considered opinion. Much like yours.

There is nothing to crow about or be proud of in this election cycle.

Worse and worser, and which one is which is highly debatable.

That's a record I would be proud of. She is the single most vetted person ever to run for President and has come out of the many times unfair attacks, without any serious problems. They can piss and moan, but they have not laid a glove on her. To me that makes her one of the most qualified person to run for President (except for re-elections) in my lifetime.

"without any serious problems. They can piss and moan, but they have not laid a glove on her":

Her unfavorability is 55%

68% of the country thinks she's dishonest and untrustworthy.

The head of the FBI just said she's extremely careless, sloppy and unsophisticated.

Bernie Sanders was booed this morning by her party for suggesting Democrats vote for her

She's losing to DONALD FUCKING TRUMP, supposedly the most disliked nominee in American history.

What does it take to for her to have a "serious" problem?

Randy in 1865:

" Other then gunshot wound Ms. Lincoln, your husband's in perfect health!"

I've seen slavish, blind devotion before, but your surreal denial of reality in support of Clinton takes the cake.

I haven't look at those numbers recently.

How does her unfavourability ratings compare with those of Donald Trump?

Is there a significant difference?

His unfavorability is 56% as is Hillarys in the CBS poll. but Donald has 37% approval to Hillary's 31%

The 30 percent who see Clinton as honest and trustworthy is now well shy of the number who say the same of Trump: 43 percent.

Steroids! That's the secret to living more then 180 years old! (I was a young man of 31 in 1865). Well, Steroids and Wheaties! Of course I was never an MD?

She isn't 'losing' anything, any political pundit understands early polls are meaningless.  Don't be fooled by the "ratings" you are seeing now.

I've seen slavish, blind devotion before, but your surreal denial of reality in support of Clinton takes the cake.

The "blind devotion" you speak of is for the Democratic Party and is a parallel of the "blind devotion" the Right Wingnuts have for the RNC.

I mean, the RNC gave us The DONALD FUCKING TRUMP as an alternative???!!!

The general election of 2016 is a choice between "worse" and "worser". This is the eleventh presidential election I have followed, and The Donald is absolutely the worst candidate I have ever, ever seen.

I disagree. I am voting for Clinton because I think she'll make a very good President. Yes Trump is terrible, but I'm a Clinton supporter, but not as the lessor of two evils.

I agree, she will make a good president. However, the baggage she has created in the past, under different circumstance she would make a terrible candidate

You can't be a good if president if you can't get elected. If she had someone sane she had to run against, her winning would be very questionable.

Again, I disagree. I think she is an excellent candidate because the majority of the "baggage" is all garbage created against her.

She's never been "proven innocent" of a single thing. Congress and the judicial system don't "prove innocence."

The testimony of the FBI director put paid to any notion of her innocence.

She's never even been charged with doing anything illegal, let alone been proven guilty of anything.

That's not true.  She has been found guilty on a number of things.  She probably has been fined more than any other politician in history starting with campaign fraud.  It's true they didn't so to speak convict her, but they have found her guilty a number of times for corruption.

Even the NYT called her a congenial liar way back in 1996.

Sean was talking about the email FBI investigation and so was I. So when I said she was not charged or found guilty of anything I was referring to that.

I would be interested in links to any crimes she HAS been convicted of and what the sentences were though. What is her criminal record? I can't find any.

Not a single thing. Not even a traffic ticket. Not a misdemeanor. Not a single fine. No felonies. Nothing. I have been looking, but I just can't find anything. What has she been charged with and convicted of in her life at any time? Then I'll know her criminal record so I won't make any mistakes about it.

That statement may have had some meaning if the Right Wingnuts you run with had not given us such a ridicules and dangerous opposition candidate like Donald Trump.

And in other news, Trump supporter & former KKK leader David Duke today announced his candidacy for president of the NAACP and spoke of his passionate commitment towards racial equality and the rights of black Americans.

Forget that I asked - he supported her. His followers didn't. This is going to be a really interesting election to watch, right down to the end of it.
