If the point pf this article is to make fun of girl groups , give it a rest.  The Ronnettes, Darlene Love (The Crystals, BobbySoxx and the BlueJeans) ,The Supremes , Martha and the Vandellas, and The Shirelles , are all in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. Some of their songs were written by Carole King or Neil Sedaka , or Gene Pitney or Barry-Greenwich, or Holland-Dozier-Holland, who are all in the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame.

Yep, except when he moved the recording studio to L.A. and left The Funk Brothers behind unemployed. There is a great documentary on them called "In the Shadow of Motown" that is fantastic. It came of a few years ago, but as of then some of them were still playing clubs in Detroit together.

Rest assure the point is not to make fun of them. When I was young my mother filled the house with girl group music of the 1950's by stacking 45's on the record player (the one that looked like a skate box and opened up) and just changing them all of time.

This one really doesn't qualify as a girl group because the back up singers were male, but what the hell.

Good ones!

In their disco era the Bee Gees only sounded like a girl group. A very, very, very, very bad girl group!
