I call this "Ghost Pen"    It's a bit blurry-- first time posting a photo-- but it gives it the "ghosty look".

Very witty costume.

One year I showed up to a work party with a whistle around my neck.  When I was asked what I was, I replied "A Whistle blower".  It's much more funny if you knew where I worked.

I...love Halloween... One of my favs, but since I live out in the sticks...I get very few "treaters". I think it's the time of year that entices me. The colder weather, the fog, the short days, etc.... But.... I did venture into town today, (something I do not do often), just to pick up some basic provisions, (bread, milk, butter, etc..). One of the gals was stocking the produce section dressed, frankly, in a skimpy witch outfit(for Halloween)...she was stocking the cantelope section....and I couldn't stop myself... "Hey, nice melons!!!".  Well, she laughed and gave me a hug... Good times, great holiday! Enjoy everyone. Be safe, have some fun!

Thank-you NT for ruining my Halloween by disallowing my joke that I told every Halloween without ever getting in trouble for it at NV where we had more freedom of speech.  My joke pokes fun at a certain political group, but it doesn't attack anyone personally, and it's just a joke anyway.  I'd tell it but it's against the law here! Happy   Going to the bar to watch game 6, later...

STELLAR! I Like it and would enjoy the thought and sights of it! What's exciting is that I am seeing more each time I glance over at it. I started out with a face and now I can see a gown and can it be. . .a beard? Shimmers!!!

32  A. Macarthur    7 years ago

There is in fact, a face, a beard, a heavy overcoat and more … I would rather you keep looking for more than possibly spoiling the fun of looking and finding what is there …

… and what the image itself might make your imagination add … that's the aspect that "haunts" the viewer.

Thanks for great feedback!

A. Macarthur
Professor Guide
33.2.1  A. Macarthur  replied to  Buzz of the Orient @33.2    7 years ago

It's obviously layered ... it's surreal by intent ... meant to be frightening conceptually, not literally.

33.2.2  CB  replied to  Buzz of the Orient @33.2    7 years ago

Buzz, I see your point to a fault. I am thinking this one hanging on a wall could be a great draw for the eyes ("spooky" during the night), and a day-time conversation piece, nevertheless. "A Mac," if I may call you that, perhaps if you distort the full-frontal outline or give more of a side profile of the "stranger" it could enhance the mysterious nature of this interesting photo and character met on the 'trail.' (-:

A "child" superimposed upon the tree trunk?

A. Macarthur
Professor Guide
36.1.1  A. Macarthur  replied to  Buzz of the Orient @36.1    7 years ago

Not "a child," rather the ethereal remembrance of a "missing child," one that was never found but often thought of in a sad and mysterious nightmare.

It's conceptual not corporeal and literal.

Think about Tevya's nightmare in the film Fiddler on the Roof.

CB
Professor Principal
36.1.2  CB  replied to  A. Macarthur @36.1.1    7 years ago

Though this is about missing children coupled with a sense you want to be sensitive (even loving) about the theme, I need more of the "certainty" of loss in the woods. Translation: More chaos (outrage?) in the "scene." Just sharing food for thought. (-:

CB
Professor Principal
36.1.3  CB  replied to  CB @36.1.2    7 years ago

More "outrage" would set tongues to wagging at the waste of youthful innocence. It may make you the Stephen King of prints and NT, but what's in a name? HA!

36.1.4  A. Macarthur  replied to  CB @36.1.2    7 years ago

Understood; but this image is about the despair of both a loss and the uncertainty that comes with no closure.

Note the cleric who will advocate prayer to the lamenting families, but, who, in his austere configuration, offers nothing else but a prayer ... but not a hope and a prayer.

Ah! So now I understand that "elder" in a robe better. It was a mystery in the shot to me before. Very nice narrative.
