Trumpsters, You Need To Take Personal Responsibility For Your Ignorance

I was just reading an article on the alt-right , conspiracy tinged website Zerohedge .  The article has to do with the Trump proposal to take half of food stamp benefit money and use it to send the poor prepackaged food supplies instead of letting them buy their own. The article is happy about this, largely saying that the poor should avoid being poor in the first place by demonstrating "personal responsibility".

The article though, mostly made me think about a couple other things I have been reading this morning , related to Donald Trump's tweetstorm over the weekend.

On this President's Day, when the nation is supposed to contemplate the greatness of our best leaders throughout history, we are also left to contemplate the strange fool we now have in the office.

Trump has made an endless string of ridiculous, dishonest, self-serving and confused statements to the nation since he became a "politician". In the past two days he has gone about as low as he can.

The president* tried to use the tragedy in the Florida high school to defend himself over the Russian meddling issue, and in doing so attacked the nation's law enforcement.

Read that sentence again, and see if it sounds allright.

The Washington Post -

"The president then retired to his private quarters and sent two controversial tweets before midnight.

The first blamed the FBI for the shooting. He wrote after 11 p.m. Saturday , “Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign — there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”"

Once again, Trump is flirting with 'obstruction of justice', and quite openly.  And as more than one commentator on this has said or implied , "the FBI can walk and chew gum at the same time".  The signs were not missed in Florida because "Russia" is being investigated. Trump is lying.

One wonders though if there isn't a breaking point when the FBI might turn against him, even though it is always said that most FBI agents are conservatives. There is only so much bullshit one can endure from a jackass like Trump until you get fed up.

Trump went on in another tweet to 'correct' his national security adviser HR McMaster, who had criticized the Russians for meddling in the US election. Trump said McMaster failed to mention the uranium deal, Hillary's emails, bla bla bla.

So someone in his administration criticized Russia in the wake of the 13 indictments of Russians accused of tampering in the election, and all Trump can do is say it's all Hillary's fault.

We are long past time for the Trumpsters to have to look themselves in the mirror and admit they have been worthless toadies as they have lent this travesty of a president* their support, and promise to change themselves into responsible American citizens again, like they constantly implore the poor to do.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-lashes-out-over-russia-probe-in-angry-and-error-laden-tweetstorm/2018/02/18/8224b7de-14ce-11e8-8b08-027a6ccb38eb_story.html?utm_term=.73cc8c01cf33

President Trump lashed out with fresh anger about the intensifying Russia probe over the weekend, accusing Democrats of enabling a foreign adversary to interfere in the 2016 election and attacking the FBI as well as his own national security adviser.

In a defiant and error-laden tweetstorm that was remarkable even by his own combative standards, Trump stewed aloud about the latest indictments brought by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III against Russians for their elaborate campaign to denigrate the Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, and push voters toward Trump.

The president seized on Mueller’s evidence of the expansive scope of the Russian influence efforts to claim that the indictments exonerated him and proved there was “no collusion.” But the special counsel’s investigation of possible complicity between Russia and the Trump campaign is continuing, as is the examination of whether Trump has sought to obstruct justice.

In a string of 10 Twitter messages — which began after 11 p.m. Saturday and ended around noon Sunday, and which included profanity and misspellings — Trump opened a window into his state of mind, even as Trump’s representatives at a global security conference in Germany advised jittery allies to generally ignore the president’s tweets.

Trump’s latest attacks built on remarks last week in which he misrepresented the evidence revealed by Mueller. He tweeted falsely, “I never said Russia did not meddle in the election.” He blamed President Barack Obama’s administration for doing “nothing” to stop the intrusion. Trump rebuked national security adviser H.R. McMaster for publicly saying the evidence of Russian interference was “incontrovertible.”

And he held the FBI responsible for last week’s devastating shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school that left 17 dead. Trump tweeted that the bureau was committing so many resources to the Russia probe that it missed “all of the many signals” about the shooter.

One topic Trump avoided in his missives was punishment of Russia. The president did not spell out how his administration might seek to retaliate against the Russians or how it may try to protect the U.S. electoral system from continued attacks, which the nation’s intelligence chiefs warned last week should be expected.

“What is it we’re going to do about the threat posed by the Russians?” James R. Clapper Jr., who was director of national intelligence during the 2016 election, said on CNN. “He never talks about that. It’s all about himself.”

In fact, Trump blamed the various domestic investigations into Russia’s intrusions — as opposed to the interference itself — for sowing discord in America.

The president tweeted Sunday , “If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S. then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America!”

Trump sent the messages from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., where he was ensconced for two days. He spent much of the time watching cable news, venting to friends about the Russia investigation and complaining that it has been driving so much press coverage, according to people who have spoken to him. The president also surveyed Mar-a-Lago Club members about whether he ought to champion gun control measures in the wake of last week’s school massacre in nearby Parkland, telling them that he was closely monitoring the media appearances by some of the surviving students, according to people who spoke with him there.

The White House is under siege for its handling of domestic abuse allegations against former staff secretary Rob Porter, which in turn has drawn unwelcome attention to its security clearance process and the tenuous status of senior adviser and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner. Two of Trump’s Cabinet secretaries — David Shulkin at the Department of Veterans Affairs and Scott Pruitt at the Environmental Protection Agency — are under scrutiny over taxpayer reimbursement for their luxury travel.

Meanwhile, salacious new accounts of Trump’s alleged extramarital affairs have created headlines. The New Yorker on Friday detailed a former Playboy centerfold’s claim of a relationship with Trump and reported that the publisher of the National Enquirer had paid the model $150,000 to buy the rights to her story. Also last week, Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, said that shortly before the 2016 election he had used his personal funds to “facilitate” a $130,000 payment to a porn star who goes by the name Stormy Daniels and had alleged a sexual relationship with Trump.

Rick Wilson, a Republican strategist based in Florida and a Trump critic, said the president’s tweets read to him like “a cry for help.”

“He must be feeling a lot of different pressures building on him right now — personal and political and legal,” Wilson said. “He must feel like he has to sweep all the pieces off the chess board and try to restart. But these problems can’t be papered over by tweets.”

You know what isn't acceptable? Blaming everyone but the shooter and the lack of gun control in our country. You even blamed the students. We did report him, we tried. But how were we supposed to know what would happen? Your lack of sympathy proves how pitiful of a person you are

It's sad that the FBI is more interested in digging up dirt on Trump that following up on all kinds of leads about a potential school shooting. My faith in the left wing nut jobs has been proven right again. I see that they are busy at work weaponizing and politicizing a high school shooting tragedy by organizing large scale walkouts, protests, and marches that are simply directed toward Trump, and which won't do a damn thing toward preventing another shooting.

It's sad that

Lots of things are sad. I can think of many right off the top of my head. Also sad it that history will record that Trump has effectively purged the FBI of pretty much all of its top leadership, Republicans all. Nobody ever accused the FBI of being too liberal before now and there are damn good reasons for that including that the FBI is the most conservative of all government cultures. Because it was and remains so. Still, everybody left at our Justice Department and at the he FBI are all Trump appointees but even they, Jeff Sessions, Rod Rosenstein and Christopher Wray, are holding on by the tips of their fingers waiting to hear Trump's tagline, "You're Fired". Sad? Indeed it is that even before this latest crisis Donald Trump and the gop had attacked and removed our nations top professional career law enforcement in order to effect a cover-up. Truly, sad that at a time of our nation's greatest need all the top ranks of the FBI and the Justice Department had been purged by one Donald J. Trump.

Yeah! That's a great idea. /S Let's finish the job. Purge every last remaining career professional from our justice system. After all, they merely dedicated their lives and their careers to enforcing our laws and defending our Constitution from our enemies both foreign and domestic. Why do not owe them jack shit. Ruined careers and decimated ranks will have no adverse effect on law enforcement. Tell them all, "You're Fired". You are brilliant. Did any of that really require a /s?

Mrs Clinton has not held public office for five years and Barack Obama has been out of office for over a year. Always remember to remind everyone whenever you hear someone falsely claim that Barack Obama's was a corrupt administration that exactly zero no nada zip Obama campaign or administration officials have ever been indicted by any prosecutor in any jurisdiction of malfeasance in office and that is because it actually is, as even Jeff Sessions had to remind the gop in congress, "Necessary to have evidence crimes were committed to plead for indictments". These facts must gall you and that is because it is all the god's honest truth so nothing you could ever produce would convincingly prove things to be otherwise. Reality has a liberal bias...

I’d like to take a moment on this here seed to stand behind and support our great American President, Donald Trump!  He has done a great job since taking office and taking our great country back from the secular progressives.  He’s returned our economy to greatness and is rebuilding our military while repealing obama executive orders.  Not only do we not repent of our support of President Trump but we double down on it and laugh at attempt to try to turn us against him.

Hillary nailed it when she stole her nomination in front of everyone's faces, got inside info about upcoming debates, told a crowd of coal miners how she couldn't wait to fire them and then was surprised when they wouldn't vote for her, proceeded to lose an election she was given a 98% chance to win and has refused to exit gracefully from the stage like most failed candidates do. And the left still defends her.

Their blind allegiance is actually a little scary if not hypocritical. The things they praise about trump, they would be offended and throw a fit if it was said by Obama. So, to sum it up, here's what the left believes:

People who've made bad choices or shown no initiative to improve their lives should get a blank check from the taxpayers and rewarded for a lack of effort.

FBI agents not following protocol or stopping a shooter when all the clues they needed fell into their lap is okay, as are partisan agents texting back and forth how much they want to clear the person they are supposed to be investigating.

And of course any extramarital affairs Trump may have had BEFORE he was even president should be front page  news after 26 years of hearing the left get outraged over any discussions of Bill Clinton's trysts. The phrase "two consenting adults" and "a private matter" come to mind.

Maybe you should look at how Presidents are actually elected before making a judgment on who "won".

Not quite 50%, but going up all the time...

Yeah, 40 is "not quite" 50 and not going up.  From your own link:

Approval rating Dates
%
Most recent weekly average 40 Feb 5-11, 2018
Term average to date 38 Jan 20, 2017-present
High point, weekly average 45 Jan 20-29, 2017
Low point, weekly average 35 four times, last on Dec 11-17, 2017

The only time the Shitbag's been above 40 was the week of the inauguration and has been as low as 35% just a couple of months ago and for as many weeks he was at his "peak" of 45%.  And look at that average for his entire term.   But, you keep on whistlin' past the graveyard and we'll keep laughing dude  at you.   As always, thanks for the enjoyment.

The rest of us have to stop letting these people slide.

Not according to presidential historians.    Even the conservative ones rank him 40th out of 44.   The saner ones rank him dead last.

Wrong. That was a survey of political scientists, not historians.  And I consider any survey that lists FDR as anything other than a traitor to be worthless. The same with Hussein Obama

From the article the data showing who responded is very enlightening

. The results showed that 57.2% (95/166) of respondents were
Democrats, while 12.7% were Republicans (21/166), 27.1% were Independents (45/166), and
3% (5/166) selected Other as their option. The second question asked whether the respondent
ideologically considered themselves to be liberal, somewhat liberal, moderate, somewhat
conservative, or conservative. The results of this question showed that 32.5% (54/166) consider
themselves ideologically liberal, while 25.9% (43/166) consider themselves somewhat liberal,
and 24.1% consider themselves moderate (40/166). Only 5.4% (9/166) consider themselves
ideologically conservative, while 12% (20/166) say they are somewhat conservative.

I judge Trump (and all presidents), not by what he says, but by his actions. Trump has so far been our most conservative president since Coolidge who was our greatest president of the 20th century.

LOL.   If by "greatest" you mean that he pandered to the rich and was the most likely to bring about the economic collapse of the nation, he certainly was that.   Although Trump is giving him a run for his money on both points.

If you believe in our Constitutional Republic of limited Government and the Sovereignty of the Individual; if you believe in capitalism and the evils of the income tax against liberty, Coolidge is beyond a doubt our best president. If you believe in FDR's marxist Fascist Statism, then he is a bad president.

Media Bias is rated #2 on this equally obscure website but the info about Dave Van Zandt appears to be dead on.

2. Media Bias Fact Check
MediaBIasFactCheck.com describes itself as “the most comprehensive media bias resource in the Internet.” The site is owned by Dave Van Zandt from North Carolina, who offers no biographical information about himself aside from the following: “Dave has been freelancing for 25+ years for a variety of print and web mediums (sic), with a focus on media bias and the role of media in politics. Dave is a registered Non-Affiliated voter who values evidence based reporting” and, “Dave Van Zandt obtained a Communications Degree before pursuing a higher degree in the sciences. Dave currently works full time in the health care industry. Dave has spent more than 20 years as an arm chair researcher on media bias and its role in political influence.”
WND was unable to locate a single article with Van Zandt’s byline. Ironically, the “fact checker” fails to establish his own credibility by disclosing his qualifications and training in evaluating news sources.
Asked for information concerning his expertise in the field of journalism and evaluating news sources, Van Zandt told WND: “I am not a journalist and just a person who is interested in how media bias impacts politics. You will find zero claims of expertise on the website.”
Concerning his purported “25+ years” of experience writing for print and web media, he said: “I am not sure why the 25+ years is still on the website. That was removed a year ago when I first started the website. All of the writing I did was small print news zines from the ’90s. I felt that what I wrote in the ’90s is not related to what I am doing today so I removed it. Again, I am not a journalist. I simply have a background in communications and more importantly science where I learned to value evidence over all else. Through this I also became interested in research of all kinds, especially media bias, which is difficult to measure and is subjective to a degree.”
WND asked: Were your evaluations reviewed by any experts in the industry?
“I can’t say they have,” Van Zandt replied.

We often accuse others of posting BS and attacking the source(s)

but this source seems to be as illegitimate as they come.

Isn't the internet, "interesting"?

Last time I checked, Perrie too, is fallible.

That doesn't change the fact that MBFC is a one man opinion site.

Asked if his own political leanings influence his evaluations, Van Zandt said: “Sure it is possible. However, our methodology is designed to eliminate most of that. We also have a team of 4 researchers with different political leanings so that we can further reduce researcher bias.”
Bill Palmer of the website Daily News Bin accused Van Zandt of retaliating when the Daily News Bin contacted him about his rating. Palmer wrote:
“[I]t turns out Van Zandt has a vindictive streak. After one hapless social media user tried to use his phony ‘Media Bias Fact Check’ site to dispute a thoroughly sourced article from this site, Daily News Bin, we made the mistake of contacting Van Zandt and asking him to take down his ridiculous ‘rating’ – which consisted of nothing more than hearsay such as ‘has been accused of being satire.’ Really? When? By whom? None of those facts seem to matter to the guy running this ‘Media Bias Fact Check’ scam.

“But instead of acknowledging that he’d been caught in the act, Van Zandt retaliated against Daily News Bin by changing his rating to something more sinister. He also added a link to a similar phony security company called World of Trust, which generates its ratings by allowing random anonymous individuals to post whatever bizarre conspiracy theories they want, and then letting these loons vote on whether that news site is ‘real’ or not. These scam sites are now trying to use each other for cover, in order to back up the false and unsubstantiated ‘ratings’ they semi-randomly assign respected news outlets. …

“‘Media Bias Fact Check’ is truly just one guy making misleading claims about news outlets while failing to back them up with anything, while maliciously changing the ratings to punish any news outlets that try to expose the invalidity of what he’s doing.”
But Van Zandt accused Palmer of threatening him, and he said MediaBiasFactCheck welcomes criticism. If evidence is provided, he said, the site will correct its errors.
“Bottom line is, we are not trying to be something we are not,” he said. “ We have disclaimers on every page of the website indicating that our method is not scientifically proven and that there is [sic] subjective judgments being used as it is unavoidable with determining bias.”

posted complete Bullshit about Politico which was the point, or are you going to try to argue that the CEO who served in the Clinton administration and raised money for Hillary is a republican?

I don't see that anywhere in this mash but,

ok, lets dissect this.

At the time, Patrick Muldoon Steel married Lee Satterfield, she worked in the Clinton WH and he was an Agriculture Department Chief of staff, not a CEO of anything.

He stepped down so that she could keep her WH job with no conflicts.

Mr Steel has a very limited bio, no idea what he did for years before landing a job at FBR Capital and eventually rising to the top over 16 years.

Now he will become the CEO at Politico to mange their money, not their journalistic content.

I see nothing on the web about political leanings or fundraising for any party none of which is illegal.

The WSJ article might be interesting if it weren't a subscription site.

Even if we agree that media fact check is not reliable, it doesn't change the fact the Skrekk posted complete Bullshit about Politico

Politico has always been center-right despite the fact that it was founded by a bible-babbling conservative and a guy whose family's wealth came from laundering money for Pinochet, or the facts that Andrew Brietbart helped them monetize their web presence and they used Drudge as a source for much of their reporting.    Here's a good backgrounder:

.

If you think Politico is liberal or "socialist" it's only due to how far to the right you're skewed.    Not long ago one of the founders (the bible-babbling extremist) was even whining about how other journalists are all biased against Trump:

So you're responding to Skrekk's  post because Norm said something Socialist BS .org  thing about Politico?

Oh I do apologize....... I thought there was something serious going on here.

One should always assume Norms wrong.

According to a recent study, it's generally considered a credible news source by both Republicans and Democrats. And it seems like it's kind of a mixed bag, as Michael Lee and Ian McCullough's good point-counterpoint answers suggest.

Politico sponsored both the 2008 Republican and Democratic Presidential Debates and only the 2012 Republican Presidential Debate. On the other hand, a March-April 2014 Political Polarization & Media Habits survey by Pew Research found that their readership tends to be more liberal.

as for what Mr. Allbritton expects from Mr Steel - that's between them - isn't it?

Not sure why Steel's work for Agriculture or the WH 20 years ago is germane to anything.  Is it?

My impression of Politico is that it is run by some known Republicans but it remains close to center as far as partisan leanings in their publications.

Isn't that the ideal?

If they hired a Dem donator to run the business - who cares? The announcement says he won't influence the journalism side of things.

btw, Steel doesn't start until May 8, so technically Politico is still being run by Republicans like Allbritton and MacDonald.

and thanks for the incredibly dry reading list of almost everyone who ever worked in the Clinton Administrtaion;

fascinating reading /s

Do you think they were all vetted for their security clearances?

Trumpsters, You Need To Take Personal Responsibility For Your Ignorance

The last time something similar to that was said to me was a number of years ago when a good friend of mine who is one of the hardest core Democrat Liberals you would ever meet told me I was ignorant for not knowing the Philippines were presently owned by the USA.  Now we know it was the largest territory the USA had at one time, but I thought everyone knew that was a long time ago, but my friend insisted we still had ownership of that country islands and it wasn't up for debate.  That was before the smart phones or I would have done a simple google search for him, but when he was proven wrong, that really would get him riled.  It was like he was stuck on being right no matter what.

Anyway, I learned a lesson from that and it is never argue with a Liberal and take it seriously, if you know what I mean.
