There Is No Such Thing As A 'Good Week' For President* Donald Trump

by JR

Donald Trump's average approval rating as of today is 39% according to John King at CNN.

A few weeks ago there was a story about the weekly Gallup poll which tracks Trump's popularity. The story indicated Trump's approval had fallen back down below 40%, after a brief week or two at that figure.

Trump's approval rating in the weekly Gallup poll hasn't been above 40% since last May 28,   nine and a half months ago. It has never been above 45% and that occurred right after he took office.

This chart is a disaster for a first term president.

We hear, disturbingly often, from our right wing and conservative friends, that Trump is very popular. A lot of this seems to based on the perception that he has "good weeks".  Fox News, Breitbart, Dally Caller and the rest of the toe the line conservative media like to tout Trump having a good week.  Please, show me on this Gallup approval rating chart where Trump had a "good week".

He doesn't have any good weeks. That is nonsense.

Ask yourself why that is true.  I think the answer is obvious,  Donald Trump is a chaotic individual who cannot exist without chaos. He is a psychologically disturbed individual, who cannot match his own inclinations and desires and intentions to what the American people, the majority of the American people, expect from their president.

Trump does something that pleases a lot of people, such as the tax cut, but he will always blow that pleasure up with something he does or says a few days later. The Republicans are depending on gratitude over the tax cuts to carry them through in November, but what they are failing to account for is all the outrages, buffoonery, lies, fights, and jackassery Trump will partake in between now and then.  It is a CERTAINTY all that will happen, simply because Trump wants it to.

He can no more stop being a jackass than the sun can stop rising in the morning.

Donald Trump cannot have a "good week". He might be able to have a "good day" here and there, but it will not last.

The body of work of his presidency is building, and the American people don't like what they see.

This is going to get real ugly this year.

Ask yourself a question, do the majority of American voters approve of trump firing Rex Tillerson in a tweet?

This is more key than you may know.

4 out of 10 Americans STILL approve of Donald Trump as President.  Of all the problems facing America today, her education problem may just be the most critical to resolve.

Democrats are more than free to rely on their current polls. I hope they do.

it really worked well for them as Hillary cruised to victory!

I just want to know, when is Donald Trump going to have a good week.  His approval has been flat or worse for a fucking year now.

A good week for some isn't for others.

You have done absolutely nothing but bitch about Trump since the election.

No big deal Obama had similar numbers several times in his presidency.

Well one obvious difference is that Obama's rating was never below 40% and Trump's has rarely been above it.

That took all of three seconds to figure out.

So what? He remains the president for the foreseeable future and it seems that fact bothers. you.
