As President Donald Trump's approval ratings ebb and flow, a new poll reveals a negative view of the commander in chief among America's youngest populations. The new AP/MTV poll reveals a slim 33 percent of Americans ages 15 to 34 approve of Trump's White House perfrmance  (Cont'd)

He has presented himself as this great businessman and fools bought it and thought he could run America like a great business. In the first place you can not run America like a Business. That is stupid because a business does not have to plan for all of the contingencies of a nation like wars, earthquakes, hurricanes, helping allies under attack or going through their own disasters. Besides every single business he has ever run he has run it into the ground!

Want to gamble at a Trump casino? Order a Trump Steak at one? Sip some Trump vodka at one? Graduate from Trump University? No legitimate bank will touch him for any of his real estate projects, but they go on, financed with money from sanctioned Russian banks and Oligarchs and with money laundered through Deutsch bank in Cypress, famous for drug money and hidden riches from taxes by the billions from mega wealthy Americans and Russians. There has never been an American administration with even this close to this many Russian contacts, that is this in bed with people in it talking to and meeting with people that they KNOW are Russian intelligence agents! And his supporters put up with it? When did the middle Americans who put up with it become Russians? When did they sell out to our enemy? When did Trump supporters become traitors to their own country?

We'll build a time machine and send them back to 1855 or 1939, whichever they prefer. Building the time machine creates R&D jobs that will spread technology to many other areas. Sending those racists and bigots back to where they came from will move the country ahead 20 years.

When we finish sending the bigots back we will send the religious fundamentalists back to the 12th century so they can take part in the crusades.

Why should we let that group turn the clock back on others and make them second class citizens because of their bigotry?  The Klan wants white supremcy so we'll send them back to live in a pre civil war parallel world. The Neo-Nazis get to live in a parallel world of 1939. Fundamentalists Christians get to live out their dream of rapturist war between Christians and Muslims.

Only difference is most boomers have actually grown up, matured and became responsible adults. Exactly what those in the 15-35 demographics do when they then turn to conservatism when they realize papa government is not going to save them at every turn.

The baby boomers left behind are the leftover hippies of the 60s that still think constant weed smoking and "resistance" is the way to success.

After 9/11 many liberals joined the military because they heard that the guvment would pay for their education. When they learned they actually had to work, many of them got out on OTH. I was on the Kennedy at the time and my division went from 65 men and women to over 90 by mid 2002, then dropped back to the 70 less than 6 months later. Most that left were those that joined after 9/11.

When many of them found out that joining the military actually included maybe getting shot at, they did stupid shit to get kicked out or an OTH.

Of course, you are trying to berate me for what you THINK I said, or how your handlers explained it to you, but if a brain cell would fire, you would see that I was speaking about those that joined simply for the free shit, many of whom continue to do so today in the name of liberalism.

Far right wingers are sure getting a lot of mileage out of a few dumb kids.

A few? This article is from January 2018;

Thirty-nine reports of teenagers intentionally misusing laundry pods came in during the first 15 days of 2018 alone , according to data from the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC). For context, there were 39 cases of intentional misuse of these pods among teenagers in all of 2016, and 53 in 2017, AAPCC spokesperson Edward Walrod told TIME — suggesting that while the problem may not be hugely common, it is on the rise.

While teenagers are making headlines right now, parents and consumer protection groups have for years been concerned that the laundry pods too closely resemble candy or toys and could be accidentally eaten by young children who don’t know the difference. (The USCPSC has been   warning parents about laundry pods since 2013 .) In 2017, about 10,500 of the 12,300 estimated exposures to laundry pods occurred in children younger than five, according to the AAPCC.

The products  may also pose a risk to elderly adults  who have Alzheimer’s or dementia. Last year, 167 incidents involving adults older than 60 were reported.

In all, 456 people across age groups have reportedly been exposed to single-load laundry packets so far this year, whether intentionally or not, according to the AAPCC data.

I think he went too far with Obama's birth certificate nonsense, but why is it racist? People questioned Ted Cruz and John McCain's (both were born outside the U.S) eligibility for office without being racist.

Ted Cruz stoked the birther fires to get support, so people questioned his eligibility due to the fact that he was born in Canada.

Nobody with more than a dozen functional neurons believed that John McCain was not a US citizen. He might have been born outside of the 50 states but was only because his father was in the military so he was obviously a US citizen.

I am 61 and a Vietnam Era Vet (I was never in country) and I agree with you. I still would have thought of Trump as a racist, a liar, a cheat and a fraud. Not because I am a Democrat, but simply because that is what he is. Back then I was in the Air Force and I supported Gerald Ford (he was the Congressman from my District back in Michigan), a Republican, because I knew he was an honest Moderate who worked across the aisle to do what he honestly thought was best for America, instead of being hostile to the Democrats and thinking of only the GOP first! Yes I hated the war and protested it before I joined the Air Force, but still thought it was my duty to serve.

Where are the Gerald Fords in the GOP? Do they even exist any longer, because if they are gone, then the GOP is doomed to die.

Considering you say, "I am 61 and a Vietnam Era Vet", that would likely make you a member of the HS class of '75 which could get you over the line for Vietnam Era but you should not have been subjected you to the draft. Not that it this matters and "Thank you for your service", excepting in that would indicate that you volunteered at a time when few were volunteering. I am a bit older than you and my friends who had been to Vietnam almost entirely against their own choosing universally advised me against signing up. My generation was the first in my family to skip out on military service. I was the oldest of many son who at draft age were not subjected to draft requirements and personally I consider that a blessing. People forget what forced subscription was like...

It would have made me the class of '75, but I dropped out after 10th grade in '73.  The draft was over then and I was 17 in July that year. Back then you could still join as a high school drop out if you scored high enough on your ASFAB test. It was the 1st year the Air Force used the ASFAB test for entry and it was a series of timed tests over about 6 subjects that took about 3 hours. For instance the Math you would have to complete the portion in a certain amount of time and so and so forth. If you were a high school drop out you had to score an 85 percentile in order to be accepted. I score a 93 percent so I passed.

I passed my physical the same day except for one thing, I was too skinny. I was 5' 6" and only weighed 105 lbs and the minimum was 110. So they told me to go home and put some weight on and come back. I went home to my dad and step-mother and she packed me full of pork chops and milk shakes and ham and every fattening thing she could think of for a few weeks. She had me eating the whole time I was awake! Five weeks later I went back to Detroit and weighed in at 111 and 1/4 pounds and was sworn in that day and was off to Lackland AFB three days later on Friday the 31st of August, 1973. I was far and away the smallest, skinniest, youngest kid in my flight, Hell I didn't even shave. I stood out like a sore thumb. I looked like a runaway Boy Scout. Still I managed to graduate tied for top man in my flight in an Honor flight 6 weeks later. Someone forgot to tell me it was impossible for me to do, so I did it anyway. Being as I served my full 4 years until August 30th 1977 I have never had to apply for the draft and have never had a draft card. To tell the truth I'm not even sure what one looks like?

Yes it does.  I was in the Air Force as well.  I didn't know anyone 16 years old who was in the Air Force during the time I was active.

2018 minus 61 years old is a person born in 1957 and will be 61 years old by the end of 2018.

1973 minus 1957 would have been a person that was 16 years old by the end of 1973.

The military, including the Air Force, wasn't actively enlisting, at least as early as 1974.  They were motivated to lower the number of service members instead of enlisting more.

Air Force Age Requirements - Link

Age requirements vary depending on the path you choose to take. Plan the timing of your application to be sure you are age-eligible for service.

  • To enlist, you cannot be younger than 17 (18 for GED holders) or older than 39 years of age.

Air Force Education Requirements - Link

You can enlist in the Air Force with a high school diploma or a GED. However, GED holders must meet the following additional requirements: Be at least 18 years of age Must obtain a 65 qualifying score on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Obtain 15 or more semester hours of qualifying college credit to gain the same eligibility as a high school graduate Note that GED holders must wait for GED applicant slots to become available, and this can sometimes mean waiting periods of up to one year. Under normal circumstances, 1% of our enlisted force accessions are GED holders during a one-year period.

You can join at 17 years old with parental consent.

The Vietnam War ended April 1975.

I'm sure there's a misunderstanding in the dates and Randy can clear this up.

The numbers don't add up.  2018 - 61 = 1957 year of birth.

1973 - 1957 = 16 years old by the end of 1973.

Doesn't matter.  I know Randy was in the Air Force at some time, but based on the information he provided he would have been 16 years old when he went in, but I know he was in based on all the things I've read that he has written in the past.

I'm not challenging his intellect either.  I know he is a smart fellow as well.  I guess I'm a stickler for things adding up correctly.  Maybe he's trying to think young will make it so. LOL  As we get older sometimes we wonder just how old we really are.

I'm sure there's a misunderstanding in the dates and Randy can clear this up.

Easily. I was born on July 16th 1956. Which meant that I turned 17 on July 16th 1973. I am 61 years old and will be 62 this July 16th. The Paris Peace accords had been signed that spring (1973), but as we all know the Vietnam War didn't really end until Saigon fell in April of 1975. I went to the recruitment center in Detroit the week after my birthday in July of 1973 after having bugged the local recruiter (SSGT Bill Agnew) in Battle Creek for months until my birthday. At the time you could join at the age of 17, as a high school drop out, without a GED, if you scored 85% or above on your ASFAB test and passed the physical and had both of your parents permission. I already had my parents permission as they knew I really wanted it and I passed the ASFAB with a 93%. I passed the physical, except as I said for the fact that I didn't weigh enough for my height. I needed to weigh 110lbs and only weighed 105lbs.

I moved in with my dad and stepmother, Marcia, who was a wonderful cook and a wonderful person (She passed away this past fall and I considered her to be as much of a mother to me as my biological mother. I loved her dearly and miss her very, very much.). She managed to pack on the necessary pounds and by the end of August I went back to the induction center in Detroit and all I had to do was to pass the weight as I had already done everything else (I ate a ton of bananas at the hotel that morning just to be sure). I weighed in at 111 and 1/4 pounds and was sworn into the Air Force Ready Reserves that day, August 27, 1973 and a few days later on August 31st 1973 I was at Lackland AFB for my first day of Basic Training.

If you want more detail I was in Flight number 1176 in the 3707 Basic Military Training Squadron (BMTS) and graduated October 15th. I was then, after 2 weeks in Casual Squadron awaiting orders, transferred to Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, to the Computer Operator Tech School. I graduated from that school on January 30th and went home on leave for two weeks and then reported to the computer section of the 321 Combat Support Group which was shortly after my arrival transferred to the command of the 321st Strategic Missile Wing. I served in that capacity until August 30th 1977 when I was Honorably discharged into the Air Force Inactive Reserves. Two years later I was discharged from the Inactive Reserves. In order to be a Vietnam Era Veteran you have to have served a total of 181 days or more of active duty between the dates of August 5th, 1964 and May 3rd, 1975. So I am a Vietnam Era Veteran since I had served considerably more then 181 days before Saigon fell.

Now is there any other fucking thing you want to question me about to see if I am telling the truth about being in the Air Force when I said I was or do you want to find a way to call me a liar???

However I hope they do a much better job then we did and I strongly suspect that they will. Through the internet and social media they are much more organized and communicate faster and more in real time then we could. The latest despicable deplorable no good lousy conspiracy theory is that Parkland student leader David Hogg (The Attention Whore -There words not mine) MUST have been in on the shooting and a conspirator with the nasty little perp since it is obvious he benefited from the massacre. First the nutters claimed that Hogg was not even a student at Parkland and that he was a crisis actor. When that blew up in their faces the same crap for brains conspiracy quacks falsely claimed that Hogg was not even at school that day and was thus not a survivor. That too turned out to be a big olde lie. When that failed they resorted to calling Hogg names like "Commie", "Nazi" along with the aforementioned "Attention Hog" among other unflattering things including questioning Hogg's sexuality on nationally sendicated right wing talk shows. That is low down as it gets for a kid. Now when all else failed the right wing hate factory will not be undone. Hogg and his family are receiving death threats. What did Hogg do, you might ask, to gain all of this vitriol? He advocated for the same sensible gun control measures advocated by about seventy percent of all Americans. Remind you, Hogg is a 17 year old Senior in high school who just lose seventeen of his classmates thrusting him into the national spotlight. He deserves a parade but the gop gives him the finger. Here are the problems with polls:

1) They interview a small sample size, then apply the results of that sample size to ALL Americans.  When you only interview 1000 people and apply the results to over 300 million people, then you are not going to have accurate results.  Oh, they put in an artificial error range (usually 3% up and down from the hard results from those 1000 people).  However, you are still applying the results of a small sample to everyone in the United States without stating where these 1000 people actually live.  I know from living in both Pennsylvania and Oregon that the views of even Conservatives in either place do not actually fully mesh, let alone between Conservatives in Centre County, PA with Liberals in Benton County, OR.

2) The questions usually asked by the pollsters are actually loaded to get a desired result rather than open-ended to get an accurate result.  Just read the following paper that I found with a simple search:

3) Polls are cited almost as if they were gospel.  If you look at the news, they will come out with a supposed poll result to show what people think.  The problem is that polls actually do not show what people think.  Some people will deliberately answer with the opposite of what they think the pollsters want, and others will answer with what they think the pollsters want.  Those answers cannot be removed or isolated as people cannot read minds in general.  Yet, the media goes through and makes entire news stories about what polls are saying about politicians, the direction of the country, and any other issues that they think people want to hear opinions about as if they are hard facts instead of malleable impressions.

So, no one should put any faith into any poll result.  We saw this in 2016, when Trump trailed in nearly every single poll except the one that mattered on Election Day, which is the actual vote.  And, please, do not try to say he lost the popular vote; because ALL of that difference came from California, and we do not know how many illegals were given the chance to vote there as estimates say 13% of the illegal immigrant population lives in California and they do not distinguish between a US Citizen and an illegal immigrant there.

Why should the media be part of Trump's PR staff, like Fox News and the conservative echo-chamber?

I get my news from the BBC/NPR and various print sources.

Try OANN.net (One America News Network's website), while they show some support of Trump, they ae mainly about reporting the news as unbiasedly as possible.  I usually take time out to watch their TV channel for The Daily Ledger.  Graham Ledger is a Constitutionalist and makes his comments based on that viewpoint.  He has been highly critical of Congress overall for their lack of effort regarding their promises and at times critical of Trump for his signing of the Omnibus and a few other pieces of legislation and proposed ideas.  Sadly, OANN's TV channel is not available outside of DirectTV for now as far as I know.

Your news source has an innate bias.

One America News Network, also referred to as One America News, is an American conservative cable news television channel launched on July 4, 2013 that is owned by Herring Networks,

Originally launched with the intention of targeting a conservative and center-right audience, OAN states a goal of delivering credible national and international news coverage throughout the day while its prime time political talk shows illustrate a conservative perspective. According to the Washington Post, the channel has risen to greater prominence due to its pro-Trump coverage.

Of course it has, since the other 93% are anti-Trump, it should rise in popularity among Trump supports as the Washington Post is anti-Trump and every article they put out is like looking at CNN or MSNBC, they appeal to the anti-Trumpers.

ALL news sources have innate biases.  I just find from watching OANN that they are far more neutral than the New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, etc.

It's really no different than what come out of Obama's, Clinton's or Bush's mouths.  Politicians lie and have done it for a very long time. But for some reason, suddenly, this one matters.

But, at this point, what difference does it make?

A lot. Trump is the biggest detriment to America and its people as a whole over any other President in history. He is in the process of ruining America as a world leader and all that our country stands for. He is making a sham out of the Statue of Liberty and the democracy that this country has upheld since its inception, and the freedoms that millions of American men and women have sacrificed their lives to defend.

However, Trump would never understand that, as he has never served, nor sacrificed anything for the country that he now leads.

History will not be kind to him, or those who kiss his azz for their own personal gain at the expense of this country and its people.

My opinion.

Don't accuse people of being something they are not when you know NOTHING about them personally. I am not affiliated with any political party, thus my eyes and brain are not blinded by mere party loyalty, therefore, I can think for myself.

And NO political party is perfect, nor is any one party the answer to all that is lacking in America. Conservatives once has a strong agenda that was geared toward what is best for America and its people, as did the Democrats. However, over the years, and especially in the last 20 years, both sides have aborted the agendas that gave their party any real credibility for the pathetic games of personal gain and political position stability. They use the American people like empty headed puppets, lying to them to get their votes, then laughing at them all the way to the bank, handing out just enough crumbs to keep the people from rebelling.

NEITHER party is worth the powder to blow it to Hell, and the politicians have become so corrupt and devious that they shame the people who lamely put their trust in them, and the country, whose allegiance they are supposed to put first above their own pockets and political allegiance. And those who applaud and defend those who don't do that are just as guilty. As they do not hold them to account for their actions, but, encourage them to do so by defending them and continuing to give them their support.

If the American people do not start holding the politicians accountable for their abuse of their office, including those of their own political party, then that makes them as guilty of helping destroy the democracy that this country was founded on.

And if you are going to make accusations abut others, then make damned sure you have your facts straight, or it is YOU who looks the fool.

Just my own 2 cents worth.

Quickly recovering economy, bringing jobs back, tax cut for the citizens.  That's really detrimental.  But you overlook the last administration arming drug lords, negotiating with terrorists and the enemy.  I think you really should re-evaluate what is detrimental and what is working.

The economy does not become good or bad over night, or even over a few months. Anyone with any real knowledge of economics and how growth of a country works would know that. Yes, the economy takes time to recover.  The previous administration had 8 years and nothing.  Now I will give the last administration credit.  They did give this new administration a start point.  Rock bottom is a start point after all.

For some the claiming that that's what's happening every time Mueller indicts someone else or get's a guilty plea or flips someone or turns up a new Russian connection or a new porn star or playboy model comes out saying that Trump paid her off to keep quiet about screwing her while married or that one of his cabinet members is caught with their hands in the treasury cookie jar stealing American taxpayer money, that Trump or his defenders always fall back on that same tired bullshit line that it's "Just the Democrats complaining because they lost the last election" which has grown so old as a cover for them to hide their crimes under. It's grown too old. That election is too far away. Come up with a new pity excuse, because that one is worn out. No one believes it any longer because it's not true. Grow the fuck up and join the real world for once instead of constantly whining.

Poll: Young People Think Trump Is Racist, Dishonest, 'Mentally Unfit For Office'

Trump Is Racist

Among other things, led the racist birther movement for years,  long after the conspiracy theory had been completely disproven. Trump is either a racist himself, or decided to please the racists by leading their insane 'quest' to prove Obama was born in Africa.

Dishonest

Trump has lied to the American people literally hundreds of times. He's such a pathological liar that he will even lie about things no one cares about.  You have to be a complete idiot to believe that Trump is not a constant liar.

Mentally Unfit

"In order to meet the criteria of having Narcissistic Personality Disorder , he would have to have demonstrated at least five of the following criteria. Let’s see how he did.

1 . Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance .

If you remember, at the Republican National Convention, Trump laid out his view of a dystopian America and then said, “Only I can fix it.” Today, he said that we’re becoming a drug-infested nation and “we’re not going to let it happen anymore.” In talking about companies that have said they’ll keep jobs in the U.S., he said that if he hadn’t been elected, they would have left.

2 . Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it.

“There has never been a presidency that has done so much in such a short amount of time.”

3. Exaggerate your achievements and talents.

In mentioning that he won 306 electoral votes, Trump said that was the biggest electoral college win since Ronald Reagan.

4. Preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.

On a couple of occasions he referred to the Rasmussen poll stating that his approval rating is at 55% – ignoring all other polls showing him at less than 40%. Trump also suggested that he is assembling one of the greatest cabinets in American history.

5. Believe that you are superior and can only be understood by or associate with equally special people.

In referring to the 9th Circuit – which continued the stay on his travel ban – he said that it was a “bad decision by a circuit that has been overturned a record number of times. I’ve heard 80%….I think that circuit is in chaos and frankly in turmoil.”

6. Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with your expectations.

Trump’s treatment of the press throughout his remarks is a demonstration of the fact that only unquestioning compliance would be suitable from his perspective. At one point he said that the leaks the press was reporting on were real, but he constantly referred to their stories about them as fake news.

7. Take advantage of others to get what you want.

On several occasions Trump brought Hillary Clinton into the conversation unsolicited. He talked about her getting debate questions ahead of time and perpetuated the lie that she had sent 20% of this country’s uranium to Russia. He also asked, “does anyone in this room think Clinton would have been tougher on Russia than me?” These were all attempts to prop himself up at Clinton’s expense.

8. Has an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.

When asked the question about a government response to anti-semitic threats, he berated the reporter for asking the question and made it all about himself, saying, “I am the least anti-semitic person.”

As I mentioned, meeting 5 of the above criteria is the standard for diagnosing Narcissistic Personality Disorder. In just a little over an hour, Trump exhibited 8 of them. There are an additional four criteria that weren’t specifically manifest today, but we’ve seen from Trump in the past.

  • Requires constant admiration
  • Has a sense of entitlement
  • Is envious of others and believes others envy you
  • Behaves in an arrogant or haughty manner

In addition to meeting the criteria, it must be demonstrated that the symptoms create an impairment of daily functioning. While Allen Frances , professor emeritus of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Duke University Medical College, thinks that is not true for Trump, it is hard to overlook the chaos and dysfunction that has been the hallmark of Trump’s professional life as well as his presidency. I also find it confusing that Allen says this:

Mr. Trump causes severe distress rather than experiencing it and has been richly rewarded, rather than punished, for his grandiosity, self-absorption and lack of empathy.

The fact that he may (or may not) have made a lot of money is beside the point. The very root of Narcissistic Personality Disorder is an attempt to deflect both pain and accountability away from oneself – which is why it is perhaps the most untreatable mental illness.

I recognize that mental health professionals are ethically prohibited from making a diagnosis. But frankly, we have all the information we need to note that this president is mentally unstable, even if we only watched this one press conference."

=================

To say that the youth of America is correct in their assessment of Trump is putting it mildly.

Malignant narcissism. Sociopath tendencies. He believes that he is the center of the world and he he has no real empathy for anyone around him. He would throw his own children under the bus if that is what it took for his own self-preservation. He thinks that what he believes is how everything has to be and that his way is the only way anything can be and can work. He is a dangerous and out here in California he would be just about close enough to be put on a 5150 as a danger to others. He is not mentally fit to be out in public without medication and therapy and certainly not mentally fit for the office he is in. Personally I would recommend in-patient treatment for at least 6 months to a year and longer depending on the results. At least until he is stabilized to some degree, because he clearly is not now.
