The Trump Presidency Has Officially Become A Train Wreck: We Should All Hope That All Americans Will Survive

It just keeps getting worse for the train wreck that is the Trump Presidency. This past week may have been the most embarrassing, disturbing, and dishonest week of a Republican administration that has lost any semblance of representing the American people and their interests. Let's look at the events of the week and try to make any sense of those events in light of the long term interests of this nation.

First, the president made his way to the meeting of NATO, our strongest and oldest alliance in the world. The President went into these discussions with some valid concerns. The countries of NATO have not lived up to their fiscal responsibilities to the organization and every President has had issues with the lack of financial responsibility. What every other President did understand, however, is that this alliance, even more than any other alliance we are involved in, goes well beyond the financial. This unity of purpose, the "if you attack one of us, you attack all of us" dedication has led to the longest period of prolonged peace in Europe in hundreds of years. This President does not appear to recognize that the one time this bulwark was implemented was after 9/11 when our NATO allies joined us in Afghanistan during the war with Al-Qaeda. You don't undercut our allies and threaten them over their fiscal responsibility by threatening to break the alliance. That is a sign of sheer stupidity......yet this was the action of President Trump. One only had to look at the expressions on the faces of Chief of Staff Kelly and NATO Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchinson to understand how  anti-American interests Trump was bellowing.

From there, it was on to Great Britain. It was fairly obvious from the beginning of this leg of the trip that the President wasn't going to have a victory lap at this stop. Trump proved that "royally". There were over a quarter of a million protesters in London {which Trump's team fastidiously kept him away from}, who were not happy with our President or his policies. A blimp of "baby Trump" did not make us more proud of the man. In addition, he managed to insult the Prime Minister in an interview with Rupert Murdoch's Sun Tabloid, was treated to an abbreviated tea with the Queen {who did not look too excited to be hosting the President}. His most memorable contribution to the security of our nation was to wonder why we didn't use the word England much anymore. He also took time to praise Vladimir Putin rather than our closest ally in Great Britain.

During this part of the President's whirlwind tour, back at home, the Republican House of Representatives  also managed to disgrace themselves by holding a totally "kangaroo" hearing on the FBI agent David Strzok. Agent Strzok may have had a whole series of inappropriate e-mails with his mistress in the run up to the 2016 election. No one, including Agent Strzok denies that; but to hold a nine hour forty minute hearing over whether America's top anti-spy agent coordinated a deep state conspiracy against Trump in 2016 was a clown show of the highest magnitude. Leading the barrage of clowns embarrassing the Republican Party and the American people were Jim Johnson, Louis Gohmert, Trey Gowdy, and the rest of the deferers and toadies on the Republican side of the aisle. This was done while Agent Strzok answered question after question {when he was allowed to talk over the bluster of the Republican inquisitors} and would destroy every argument they made. The only thing that was obvious in this entire day of questioning was that they were trying to ultimately undermine the Mueller investigation at the behest of their White House handlers.

Then the coup de grace came this morning. Trump was on his way to another weekend at one of his properties before he was to leave for his much ballyhooed summit with Vladimir Putin. A summit that is to include a private meeting with the object of his "bromance" or "handler". Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein announced the indictment of 12 additional Russian governmental operatives for interfering in the 2016 election. We learned that the President was briefed about this upcoming indictment prior to his leaving on his European tour.  The indictments clear up any lingering doubts whether or not the Russians interfered in the 2016 election. They did and they must pay for it. So what does our "American" President do? He whines about how this type of thing makes it more difficult for him to make things better in the summit. Trump still won't admit to Russian interference, and still sees Russia as more in line with Trump's world view than our NATO allies view. There is now real question whether the President should continue with this summit or cancel it immediately.

What is clear is the circle is closing in on this administration. Today's indictments lay the foundation for more indictments that are certain to follow. The next group will more than likely include Americans who work in or have worked in the Trump circle. That will not be the end. The ball is going to roll uphill and the Republican party and the Trump administration know it. We can probably expect more clown hearings in the House of Representatives and more deflection and denial from the Trump administration. But the die is cast. This is an administration and a party that has lost it's way. Most of the non-extreme Republicans have left the party and even those who remain must be having second thoughts as the noose tightens. Only those whose allegiance to Trump is blind can stay with him and the toadies that follow him and still believe that they are American patriots.

Patriots love our country, not our President. Patriots support our allies, not our enemies. Patriots oppose all enemies, foreign and domestic. Patriots can't support this administration.

Those rose colored glasses you wear to view these events make you look...well...we'll just let that go by.

I could dispute each and every point you attempt to make.  But why bother.  Nothing I say is going to sway your hatred for the man.

So I'll just say this.  The sooner you and the other haters on this site stop looking at Trump as a politician, and look at him as a businessman, using cut-throat business tactics to effect his agenda, the sooner you will understand him, and realize that he is exactly what we voted for:  A non-politician who is not able to be bought off by the political machine.

What it shows is that business skills don't transfer well to running a government, particularly if most of one's experience is running single-member LLCs.    It does explain why Trump still doesn't understand what the separation of powers is and why he loves authoritarians and dictators.

why he loves authoritarians and dictators.

When has Trump shown that "he loves" Syria, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Russia, China, and NoKo? Did he physically bow to their leaders, give them billions of US dollars of cash in the middle of the night, and trade a deserter for Islamic terrorists?  Oh wait ... that was another POTUS.

I know Trump as a "businessman". My family has dealt with him for years. He is nothing more than a common thief. He contracts other companies, refuses to pay and winds up in court and always loses if the company doesn't go broke first. There is nothing diplomatic about this man and nothing that can even remotely be considered in the best interests of this country. It is the people that are still standing with this disaster who are haters.....they are haters of American exceptionalism and patriotism.

You are living in an alternate reality...….The CBO estimates that 88% of all Americans will not see any measurable tax relief...…...jgreat job numbers and soaring stock markets have been going on since the second year of Obama's administration. It continues in spite of Trump, not because of him...….talk about factories being built to the workers at Harley Davidson, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagon, and even Ford who are going to be closing factories in the USA and opening them overseas to beat the scattershot tariffs of the Trump administration. This is going to be the tip of the iceberg when our economy begins to collapse {btw, I am a supporter of targeted tariffs, not the economic garbage this lunatic is trying to sell}……...You obviously know little about NATO if you see it only as an economic pact. The value of these alliances go far beyond the limited dollars these countries have not paid. They are the nations who came to our aid after 9/11 and have fought by our side for 70 years. With appropriate diplomacy {certainly not Donald Trump}, they will fight by our side for another 70+ years.

Finally, who should the world look to for military leadership? We are the world's number one superpower. Prior to this impossibly flawed administration, our strength was used judiciously and our allies could always depend on us. Now it seems that the only ones who can depend on us are Russia, North Korea, and China.

We live in the United States of America NOT the United States Corporation, LLC, Co., LLP, etc.

We have a constitution NOT articles of incorporation.

He has a tendency to exaggerate for sure.  The only place where I saw the over a quarter of a million protesters was on the "World Socialist Website" and "CNN".

You have to remember free press in the UK isn't quite like it is here in the USA.  CNN International is broadcast in the UK, but Fox isn't.  Can you imagine never really seeing any opposing views to the MSM or watching the news about the USA on CNN with the same CNN personalities we see here?  How could they ever have an independent thought?

Here in the USA, some people complain that medical/dental offices and airports show only CNN. That's really nothing to complain about, because we still have access to Fox News elsewhere. You're correct about other countries. I have friends and relatives in Central and South America who cannot access Fox News. Their only news sources are CNN and MSNBC.

We deplorables hereabouts just skim over these uneducated screeds and either laugh or shake our heads in amazement. I've never seen such an ongoing collection of hysterical whining and crying in my life. And they still expect the voters to put them back in power! Face Palm

Trump is using cut-throat business tactics, for sure. But as you can surely imagine, this country has expectations of out existing any corporation in it. So expediency counts only so much. This country is not privately owned nor shall it be privately operated.

We, all, get a say in what happens in the land. We charge, Donald Trump and his band of 'cut-throats' with performing malpractice on the systems of this country! More importantly, we are developing reasons to believe Trump and his posse need to be figuratively "smoked-out" into the open where their lying and deceitful takeover of the landscape can be properly exposed and efforts taken to shut it down!

We are going to take the banner of "PATRIOT" back since republicans insist on dragging it though the 'piss and puke' of Trump! The time has come to call lying and cheating what it is: LYING AND CHEATING Donald Trump!

While I am on the subject, we all see Donald Trump for what he truly is. Londoners make a point to demonstrate they see Trump for who he is; Scotland (his beloved family home) sharply pointed out they can see what their legacy child is too! Trump has never been a mystery to me, us.

What we can not figure out is why conservatives think so highly of the man who is making the country lopsided.  As anyone will tell you things out of kilter do not work at top efficiency! So, some conservatives hired a monstrous 'loose cannon' to figuratively blow up liberals. You're licking you chops now, but the ticket will come due when you stand up to leave!

Did you forget the counter-culture movements lessons of the 60's? Conservative children were essentials parts of those early movements!

Doc, I think your'e under the misconception that protesters represent a majority view. I hate to break this to you, but it's just the opposite. That's why they protest - to get out their message, which they weren't able to do at the ballot box and to inflate their numbers. For the rest of us, we tend to believe what we see with our own eyes, feel what is tangible and understand prosperity & security by what we experience in our daily lives. The November elections will tell you whether this is a "trainwreck" or not.

According to YouGov, a British polling company......11% of British citizens see Trump as a great or good President while 67% see him as a terrible or extremely bad president. There goes the argument that the British protests only represents a minority opinion. As to this nation, I can't wait until November when the sanity of this nation puts our train back on track with a massive blue wave.

Trump should have told May that there would be no change in trade between the US and UK and provide England with most favored nation status. The bureaucrats in Brussels are planning on a painful exit for England from the EU. They want it to hurt as an example. Trump should try and help the Brits.

Oh, ya, BTW SCREW THE PROTESTORS

A large percentage of the protestors are simply out for the fun of it. If it wasn't Trump they would be protesting something or someone else.
