U.S. President Donald Trump ’s administration is expected to issue new guidelines that would make it harder for legal immigrants to become citizens or get green cards, reports NBC News .

The move reportedly does not need Congressional approval and is a key part of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller's plan to limit the number of migrants who obtain legal status in the U.S. each year.

The proposal would make the path to citizenship more difficult for those who have ever used a “range of popular public welfare programs, including Obamacare, four sources with knowledge of the plan told NBC News.”

The move, which would not need Congressional approval, is part of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller's plan to limit the number of migrants who obtain legal status in the U.S. each year.

A White House official who supported higher numbers of refugee admissions to the United States and clashed with immigration hard-liners in the Trump administration left her position in mid-July, two U.S. officials with knowledge of the departure said.

Stephen Miller is a white nationalist/nazi. The fact that he has Trump's ear and Trump bases policy on this lunatics ideas is nauseating.

What it really does it put even more stress on hardworking people and the industries they work for.   Truly foolish.

My ex is someone who theoretically might be subject to this despite the ban on ex post facto laws, and the fact that she's been in the US since she was a toddler.

Charles, the Haitian green-card holder who works as a nursing assistant in a psychiatric hospital near Boston, said he was stunned to learn his application for citizenship had been denied. He had used a fake passport given to him by smugglers when he entered the U.S. from Haiti in 1989, but confessed to border officers and received a waiver from USCIS absolving him of his wrongdoing and allowing him to obtain a green card in 2011.

Anyone questioning the problem with our immigration system needs to look no farther than this. 1989 to 2011- here w/o a green-card.

Oh, and for those on the left criticizing our immigration process look at Mexico, Canada, and the rest of the free world to see how long you have to be a legal resident in good standing before you can claim benefits; or even attempt to gain citizenship. Most reject those that will become wards of the state programs; or require tax payer paid for assistance.

While I see the FACT that the USCIS ABSOLVED him, gave him a green card, and NOW wants to renege on that as the problem in this case. Setting a bar and then moving the goal post is unconscionable.

Secondly, his daughter is a US citizen and SHE is the one receiving assistance. So WHY does Trump want to penalize HIM for HER need, because of disability?

The Trump administration is attacking legal immigrants next. So much for the pretense that it's just about following the law.

Sounds good the robots are coming we won't need them and they will end up a liability instead of an asset.
