The Real Battle In Today's America

Ever since Trump won the election there has only been one true question concerning him and his presidency.

Would effort by his supporters, time, and the effect of the second law of thermodynamics("things fall apart") on the "resistance", all work to "normalize" Donald Trump and his presidency?  From the beginning there has been a constant battle on one side to make Trump seem like someone who belongs in the office and on the other side to keep constantly saying "NEVER".

The greatest ally of those who want to normalize Trump is time. Over time it is human nature to adapt to one's surroundings and circumstances. Bad things happen to people but more often than not time makes the pain go away. Eventually people can come to terms with virtually anything.

There are great stakes associated with the "normalization" of Donald Trump. If the majority accepted him as a normal president his popularity would rise and he would have a good chance of re-election. If re-elected he would have four more years to issue executive orders dismantling the government, eviscerating social programs, giving tax breaks to billionaires, and kow towing to dictators, destroying our legal immigration system, and harming race relations.

Personally, I can't find one "normal" thing about President Trump. The very fact that he thinks insulting real and imaginary enemies on Twitter every day is part of his presidential duties is in itself proof that his presidency is not normal. His attacking America's traditional allies is not normal. His constant lies about his 'accomplishments' is not normal. His spending half of his presidency on his golf and resort properties is not normal. His verbal attacks on black American athletes is not normal. His use of childish nicknames for his opponents in not normal. His hiring of cronies and family members to high positions in the White House is not normal. His acceptance of widespread corruption within his administration is not normal. His obsession with demeaning the FBI and the special counsel not normal. His praise for ridiculous crackpots like Alex Jones is not normal. And his submissiveness to the Russian autocrat dictator Putin in front of the entire world is not normal.

We see some on the right say "give him a chance" , in other words treat him like you would treat any other president. This is the plea for "normalizing" Donald trump in order to pave the way for renewed popularity for him. Trump has had hundreds of chances. He has a chance each new day to act like a "normal" human being, and he has failed miserably.

I keep telling our friends on the right that Trump will never be normalized. He also does not, in a million years deserve to be normalized. He deserves to be thrown out on his ass on the soonest possible day.

The deep state wants normal business as usual in politics. The voters didn’t they are sick of business as usual that’s why they picked exceptional over normal.

There's far more evidence of the Illuminati than there is of any "deep state". Claims of the "deep state" doing anything are just fantasy nonsense. We have many hard working, loyal (to our country, not Trump), patriotic public servants who keep us safe every day, something these worthless conspiracy theorist Trump supporters fail to recognize as they attack and disparage them for ever speaking truth to power now that their desired bigot is in office. But those true patriots are not some coordinated "deep state" as some half wit conspiracy theorists have claimed, they are simply calling balls and strikes as they see them, the Trumplodytes are just angry every time they don't stand up and proclaim "Homerun!" every time Trump swings and misses.

"They" are not the "deep state". Our intelligence community works to protect the American people, and while it's true, they failed us this time by allowing a Russian puppet to get elected, "they" continue to do their job and are loyal to our country. And the fact remains, the Trump organization is still under investigation and so far we've seen dozens of indictments, guilty pleas and clear evidence of Russian support for the Trump campaign, it's just a matter of time before this gets to the Commander in-Competents door.

Trump's approval on 538's polling aggregation is 42%. If you take out the outlier Rassmussen (48%) it goes down to 41%. That is the ceiling not the floor.  If Trump was allowed to be "normalized" it would likely go somewhat higher.

trump will be remembered as one of the greatest presidents ever.

Only to those same kinds of people from the last century who thought Hitler was the best leader ever. If you like fascism, if you believe your race superior to others, if you're prejudiced against those not of your faith or complexion, then you'll likely worship the golden turd forever more. If you're a Presidential historian you'll look at all the facts and conclude that Trump has been one of the most divisive and incompetent Presidents in US history. His many affairs, pay offs to porn stars, 19 credible accusers of sexual assault, his inept foreign policy, his insane tweets, his attacks on our allies and embrace of authoritarians will all be matters of recorded history. Sure, most of his followers and their children won't ever read any of the history books written by Presidential historians since you don't usually get into those books till college, but everyone with any sort of sense will know Trump ranks amongst the worst Presidents in history and he's not even a full two years into his only term.

So what? 538 had Trump's chance of winning the Presidency at about 10 percent the morning of the election. It did not go up to over 50 percent until around 10 that night.

So he hasn't had at least 19 accusers? He hasn't cheated on all three of his wives? He hasn't paid off at least one porn star and another Playboy playmate to keep quiet about affairs? He hasn't insulted our allies and cozied up to authoritarians? So you're telling me not to believe my lying eyes? If you can't even accept basic facts there is no point in debating anything with you. When viewing the two records side by side history will conclude the Trumpites are seriously deranged. The supposed Hillary scandals of which there has been zero evidence and zero indictments versus all the actual scandals of Trump will forever be a blight on Americas history. You admit you elected a flawed bumbling idiot just to piss off the other half of the country, only vindictive morons do that kind of thing.

And that is your problem going forward, you have nothing to offer. All you had was Hillary hatred, and she is gone. Trump has nothing, his tax cuts are a failure, his wall is not built, no sign of any infrastructure, most of his immigration policies have been a disaster, and his approval ratings are plateaued, while his disapproval ratings are rising. His white supremacists aren't doing him any favors, and all the republican party seems able to produce is corruption. You have a surplus of neo-Nazi nominees, and nothing but old white male voters. I doubt you will luck out twice in a row.

Will there be any point where they realize that another old white dude being elected president isn't really all that abnormal?  Will they eventually come to understand that it's just new to them?

You actually believe Trump is normal?  You must have seriously low standards.

Normal?  Nah.  Not exactly.

But "must not be normalized"?  Oh good grief.  People need to grow up.

I can understand very, very young people having difficulty with this because for most of their conscious lives the president has been a cool Harvard educated black dude who plays basketball, says nice things about everybody except Republicans and sounds good on TV.

But in the history of the US, Barack Obama is the abnormal one.  The rest of our presidents have been old white men with varying degrees of outrageous character flaws.  The big difference with Trump is that we see it all...because Twitter is Satan's instrument for the destruction of humanity...and because any angry millennial with a blog can attempt to call herself a "journalist".

  • So while people say "Trump is a racist", he is not .000001% of the racist LBJ was.  When you hear Trump talking about how to get the "ni**ervote", you be sure and let us know.
  • People say he's a misogynist/pussy grabber.  Bill Clinton was accused of multiple sexual assaults and confessed to sexually harassing an intern.  And before you try to tell me it was OK because it was "consensual", be ready to explain why Matt Lauer is disgraced for much less.
  • You complain that he hires family members to high positions in the administration....like Bobby and Jack Kennedy were strangers.  I did love Billy Carter, though.
  • You complain Trump was "submissive" to Putin, but I'm not sure failing to make a scene at a press conference is the same as letting him invade the Crimea.
  • You complain about corruption in this administration.  Are you old enough to remember either Whitewater, Watergate, or Iran/Contra?
  • You say Trump's lies are "not normal"...and this is the most laughable of all the assertions.  Quiz time.  Which one of these presidential lies belongs to Donald Trump?
    • Read my lips, no new taxes.
    • If you like your health plan, you can keep it.
    • I did not have sex with that woman.
    • I open every letter myself and read them all.
    • We did not, I repeat, did not trade weapons or anything else [to Iran] for hostages, nor will we.
    • I have previously stated, and I repeat now, that the United States plans no military intervention in Cuba.
    • Do the people of the South really entertain fears that a Republican administration would, directly or indirectly, interfere with their slaves, or with them, about their slaves? If they do, I wish to assure you, as once a friend, and still, I hope, not an enemy, that there is no cause for such fears
    • Aggression has unmasked its face to the world..."unprovoked attack in the Gulf of Tonkin"
    • Mexico has invaded our territory and shed the blood of our fellow-citizens on our own soil.
    • Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars......I am fighting to keep our people out of foreign wars.

The answer, of course, is none.  They belong, in order, to Bush, Obama, Clinton, Carter, Reagan, Kennedy, Lincoln, LBJ, Polk, and FDR.

EVERY president lies.  EVERY politician lies.  Does Trump lie?  Of course.  If you don't expect your elected officials to lie to you, then you've probably given your banking information to that nice Nigerian lady who needs help getting her late husband's $50million out of Africa.

So is Trump "different".  Yeah.  Sure.  Whatever.

But this fixation people have with him like he's Voldemort and Darth Vader rolled up into one is just juvenile.

So you think Trump is normal. I get it. Like I said, you have low standards.

Which one of the presidents you listed is known to have made false, intentionally lying or misleading statements , to the public, thousands of times?

Which of those presidents used to use fake names and call up reporters and brag about themselves (real name) using that alias?

Which of those presidents paid 25 million dollars to settle a personal fraud case?

Which of those presidents publicly asked a hostile foreign power to spy on his political opponents and then release the dirt to the media?

I could go on all night, but most of us adults are already familiar with Trump's mountainous personal  and professional flaws.  It's not a question of IF Trump is not qualified to be president (every halfway intelligent person already knows that ten times over) it is a question of what we are going to do about it.

Trumpsters are either bamboozlers or the bamboozled.  No one should wish to be either.

No, I think one isn't being real if they don't see it as highly likely.  It's kind of shocking really, how many dismiss multiple Russian scandals around Trump from the beginning, including public words and actions up to the (not yet finished) indictments and such.  This isn't a typical made up republican scandal for political points like Benghazi or Whitewater or Obama's birth cert.  This is real, this is about Russia and Trump's many many connections before the campaign, during and after.   Ignore it if you want, but that is denying reality, its all out there for the world its a small minority (in the world) who chooses to believe Trump's lies and live in the fantasy.

No, I think one isn't being real if they don't see it as highly likely.

This is where people get the term "Trump Derangement Syndrome".  You know exactly what you read on the internet, and much of what's on the internet isn't true anyway.  So let's deal with established facts instead of rumors.

It's kind of shocking really, how many dismiss multiple Russian scandals around Trump from the beginning, including public words and actions up to the (not yet finished) indictments and such.  This isn't a typical made up republican scandal for political points like Benghazi or Whitewater or Obama's birth cert.

OK, so you clearly don't remember the 1990s.  But just so you're aware, there were multiple convictions in the Whitewater scandal.  The fact that you either don't know that or are pretending they didn't happen is very discouraging.

This is real, this is about Russia and Trump's many many connections before the campaign, during and after.

No.  Currently, it's what we call "hearsay".  I realize you desperately WANT it to be real, but until Bob Mueller officially declares otherwise, everything is rumor and innuendo.

Ignore it if you want, but that is denying reality,

No, it's waiting for professional investigators to deliver their findings before making a rash, emotional and immature judgment.  Now....I really, really hope you're not going to tell us all that you're a better investigator than a former FBI Director, or that you have super special secret information you found on the internet that isn't available to Federal Special Counsel.  You're going to look damn silly if you do.
