Poll: Voters Would Overwhelmingly Reject “Socialists” And Candidates Older Than 75…

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

Via   Bloomberg :

Americans are least favorable toward a presidential candidate who’s a socialist or one who’s older than 75, according to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that said President Donald Trump’s approval rating ticked up in the past month.

Only 25 percent of respondents ranked “socialist” as a desirable trait for a candidate. Only 37 percent said “someone over 75” was desirable, according to the survey, released on Sunday. More voters were accepting of candidates who were gay or lesbian, independent or under 40.

The poll comes as Democrats line up for a chance to take on Trump in the 2020 presidential election. The survey suggests that 41 percent of voters would definitely or probably vote for Trump in 2020, against 48 percent who said they would vote for the Democratic candidate.

Our spending has already left our progeny in massive debt.   Yet our currently born progeny (the millennials , et. al.) seem to be happy to grab the baton and pass the debt on to their great grandchildren.   We need to stop this cycle and start making smart choices rather than merely distribute funds we do not have.

For example, I am all in favor of overhauling our healthcare system if we can produce something that is more cost effective without degrading net quality (the necessary quality of care depending upon the circumstances).    Just running to universal healthcare (sans a well conceived plan for an effective system) is just more of the irresponsibility that has lead to a $22T national debt.

I would say we already have the systems in place for healthcare.

Our biggest problem imo is people thinking all taxes are bad. We have people that promise lower taxes to get elected.

We cannot keep lowering the tax burden on individuals and companies while maintaining the same spending levels.

people who actually think, realize taxes are a necessity, people who prefer to drink, realize without them, we're all left on the rocks

I chose healthcare as an example of a system that clearly could and should be made more cost effective without degrading quality.

that would require removing profits, that prophets have for years prophesied about.

Big pHarma , Insurance Lobbies, along with pill pushing Physicians, haven't yet been pushed into the position, where as

Physical harm has been prescribed for they, though long overdue, is this prescription, post operative has not yet bin a depiction, to store the anecdotal inscription, that buy convenience, has been bought and stored, in a convenience store  age facility, over due to profits being worth more than peoples   to some,

talk about hypocritical oafes

That is not the only way.   I was thinking more in terms of operational efficiency - standards and economies of scale.

Our system is overly complex, redundant and wasteful.   We have plenty of room for improvement without squeezing medical professionals or reducing quality.

I just wrote a reply but it was denied, so, since i'm unable to duplicate my thoughts, ever, i'll write something wrong and not half as clever as ever , as never can one be as clever as the time before they were.

I agree, if all profit were removed, socialistically no one could capitalize, thus reducing quality, but i believe you might see where as profits for so few, reduce what is done, for so many.

Voters Would Overwhelmingly Reject ...

I think it depends upon the age of the voter.

Its probably true of most older voters.

But most Millennials, particular younger Millennials for the most part, prefer younger candidates and those who are further to the left than those who are more "mainstream".

But Bernie has a young following that is very passionate, my son is one of them and he's not alone.   I don't think age matters if the candidate speaks to them.

Not to draw too close of a comparison but with your comment I envision a "Trudeau" "Macron"

Smart, with just enough flash and sex.

Also, not to start a troll fest, Cuomo bears those traits too.

So who do Americans actually elect?

FWIW: Trump is 72 years old . . .by way of contrast, Obama is 57.
