Young Turk Wants To Bet Trump On College Grades
Cenk Uygur — a 1992 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business — is throwing down the gauntlet to a man who has been known to boast about his degree from that institution.
In a segment posted by The Young Turks Wednesday, the progressive commentator challenged 1968 Wharton grad President Donald Trump to release his grades. And Uygur says he’s putting his money where his mouth is.
“If you have better grades than me, I’ll give you a million dollars,” Uygur said. “If I have better grades than you, you give me a million dollars. If you release [your high school and college transcripts, along with yours SAT scores], and you agree to this deal, we definitely have a bet.”
Uygur claims that if Trump takes him up on the offer, and he should win the challenge, he would bankrupt Uygur.
“Do I have a million dollars?” Uygur said. “No. You’ll bankrupt me and take everything I have … Go for it. Donald Trump, you know how ecstatic MAGA nation would be if you bankrupted me?”
Watch above, via The Young Turks. The relevant portion begins at the 5:40 mark.
This challenge serves as both a publicity stunt for The Young Turks brand as an example of how to shut Trump the fuck up on a topic.
There is video/audio of Donald Trump claiming to a campaign audience that he had the best grades of anyone in his class at Wharton. This is provably false. Reporters have looked at the Dean's List for Trump's years at Wharton and Trump's name is not on there.
No doubt Trump will not take Uygar's bet.
I wonder if he realizes that making a bet like this is Illegal.
I was thinking more along the lines of, shall we say juvenile.
It's a little late in the game to worry about juvenile behavior in America.
I think of it more like fighting fire with fire anyway.
Let us hope not, that is unless one actually happens to be a juvenile.
So you are now saying that because they did it first we can do it now? Interesting....
"The Young Turks" - " Overall, we rate The Young Turks Left Biased based on story selection that always favors the progressive left and Mixed for factual reporting due to promotion of pseudoscience in regards to GMO’s. "
Doesn't meet the criteria as a source John - you know better than that.
It's not being used as a "source", it's a mere statement of where Cenk works.
You don't seem to know what the word source means here.
Wally,
the source is mediaite
the topic is a bet by Cenk to Donald.

or follow your own link, where is the the ball on the main line ? ( hint, it's not in the arrowhead yet, therefore an acceptable source )

Wally is one of a few, on these boards, that seem to have troubles understanding simple English words at times.
“If you have better grades than me, I’ll give you a million dollars,” Uygur said."
But folks with "Big Bucks" to throw around like this are …..Bad, Bad.....BAD !
Or so I'm ALWAYS told !
Now "Big Buck" Folks are "Good Guys ?
Young Turk.....Pffffft !
The ass is trying to make a bet with money he doesn't have.
Gee, some might call that dishonest. Not too many on here, of course, but there are some folks sane enough to know it's wrong.
Careful though....ya just might get deleted for that.
"Cenk Uygur Net Worth: Cenk Uygur is a Turkish American political commentator, internet personality and political activist who has a net worth of $5 million . "
According to the story, either your source is not correct or he is a liar.
“Do I have a million dollars?” Uygur said. “No. You’ll bankrupt me and take everything I have
Exactly what kind of asshole tries to make a bet with money he doesn't even have?
The same kind that makes an allegation that they have no proof for...
So you condemn this idiocy.
Good.
Progress!
Another baseless presumption.
YOUR allegation about Cenk Uygur is also baseless.
I didn't allege anything.
He is quoted in the article saying he would be bankrupt if he lost the bet. Either he is clearly LYING about that or some folks have seriously overestimated his net worth.
Which is it?
Is he lying or not?
Bankruptcy would liquidate his assets and PAY the bet. So while he may not have the CASH, he DOES have the ASSETS. He's NOT making a bet he can't cover...
Are bets covered in bankruptcy courts now?
LOL!
Not that net worth is liquid, mind you, but it appears that losing the bet would not hurt him too much.
After all, this is just a publicity stunt - free advertising - right?
It's unfortunate that all too many make false allegations without doing their due diligence to ensure what they are alleging has a basis in fact.
I can't help but wonder why they think that their bad faith comments are worthy of posting here on NT.
From the "Seeded Article":
"Uygur claims that if Trump takes him up on the offer, and he should win the challenge, he would bankrupt Uygur."Do I have a million dollars?” Uygur said. “No". You’ll bankrupt me and take everything I have … Go for it."
Soooo....which is true ?
Your "Story" or the seeds supposed WORD OF MOUTH "Story" !
Does he have a million in cash laying around, probably not. Would it really bankrupt him, probably not.
Who cares?
Right now Cenk is living rent free in many peoples heads. Free publicity is a bitch, huh?
Your not worried about what is true or not ?
And that really is the whole point of this exercise, isn't it?
Nope !
Because that's all they have
About who has the higher grades between Cenk or Donald?
Or how much cash Cenk can afford to lose in a bet?
Not at all.
About who has the higher grades between Cenk or Donald?

Good for you !
So this is just a "Play around" article.
Aren't yours?
Are they ?
Lots of habitual gamblers make bets with a bookie with money they don't have, when they lose the consequences are severe.
1. The Young Turks is NOT disqualified as a source by MBFC.
2. The seeded article is not from The Young Turks, it is from Mediaite.

( I would even challenge that Mediaite is that much to the left, but since MBFC is the Newstalkers bible we have to go with that)
Well, you struck out again 1st warrior.
Everytime we discuss something about Trump the same funny thing happens. The Trumpsters dont address the meat of the story, they discuss personalities.Notice that not one of the Trump supporters responding to this seed so far thinks there is any hope that Trump would win the bet.
Why should anyone really care about some asshole attempting to make bets he doesn't have the money to cover?
His "credibility" is shot right there.
Thank you for proving my point.
No, his credibility isn't shot - he openly said that Trump would drive him into bankruptcy if he lost the bet.
He's an idiot because he should know that Trump would welsh on the bet anyway. He denied making the $1 million bet with Warren, even though it was recorded. Anyone who takes Trump at his word is an idiot.
He's a well meaning idiot. Can't fault the guy for trying
The story is about someone attempting to make a bet with Trump===with money he doesn't actually have.
Perhaps in your world, that shows credibility, but not in the real world.
I guess we have different definitions for credible. I consider making bets you can't cover to be dishonest, stupid, and downright weird.
And pretty fucking stupid to gamble more than you can afford to lose.
But hey, that's just me. You think he is credible, maybe you could back him.
"Idiots" need luv too !
If he had pretended he did have a million dollars, he would have lost credibility in my mind. As it is, I just think he's being an idiot, but he wasn't being dishonest.
Since it's pretty clear that Trump would lose the bet, it doesn't matter much to me whether or not Uygur has the million anyway. Trump wouldn't have been in such a rush to have his records hidden as soon as he challenged Obama to show his records if his grades were so wonderful.
One of my friends owes me a million dollars - well, minus a drink he bought me the other week. I knew he didn't have it when we made the bet. I knew I didn't have it, either, but since I knew I was going to win the bet, that didn't actually matter.
To me, when you bet money you don't have, that is not credible.
Like I said, we apparently have different definitions of credible.

Best post !
Personal bankruptcy, maybe, but probably not.
He has used crowdfunding in the past to raise capital for TYT and charities,
His most recent 2017 campaign for expansion raised $20 million for TYT. Their original goal was $2 million.
I'd think that should he lose the bet, he'd raise the cash through Go Fund Me or Crowdsourcing in a very short time.
That's possible - although why anyone would want to contribute to a fund to give Trump a million dollars is beyond me.
I believe that as much as anything, this is just a publicity stunt by TYT.
and at least here, he has gotten the attention of quite a few people.
( besides, his net worth is reportedly between 10 & 20 million )
So the quotes in the article are lies? Or are projections of his wealth all wrong?
Is the source of the story accurately quoting him when he said losing the bet would bankrupt him?
Could be. Like I said, this was a publicity stunt.
Win, win for TYT.
He has all of us talking about him, doesn't he?
Sounds like something no one should take at all seriously then.
He lied or others lied about his net worth.
So he emulates the President. Big deal, huh?
I certainly didn't take it seriously. And as I said, since Trump would just welsh anyway if he lost, even if this guy did have the money I wouldn't take it seriously.
Interesting reaction.
Had he been a Republican doing that, I am positive your reaction wouldn't be the same.
Prove it.
Please be specific
Comment 5.2.3 Split Personality:
And I quote ............. "WHO CARES" !
and I repeat, Who Cares?
and I repeat, why let some talking head on You Tube live rent free in your head?
Figures.
"why let some talking head on You Tube live rent free"
Why not ? D.S. Congress folks are trying to work us that way anyway ! This one just got a "Head Start" !
Jealous ?
Of whom?
Not "Whom"....."What" !
