The Populist Crusade
“It’s the people who are making America great again!”

Raymond Dalio recently pointed out (CBS) that during the tumultuous era of the 1930's, four of the worlds democracies chose dictatorship. America is now going through a political crisis and let no one doubt that it could happen here. What used to be a simple choice between the platforms of the two political parties or even the values of Conservatism vs Liberalism has been replaced by the potentially violent divisive politics of today. Old fashioned liberalism has been replaced by the far left ideology of the modern progressive. The progressive uses identity politics while openly supporting voting rights for ex-convicts, teenagers and illegal aliens. The progressive agenda calls for "a Green New Deal", "Medicare for all", "free tuition for all", racial redistribution (reparations) and infanticide.

What will prevent this ideological behemoth, with a multitude of allies in the media & academia, from taking power over the nation in 2020?  It won't be Conservatism. In 2008 and 2012 Conservatives were satisfied to lose virtuously. What saves America will come from the heartland. The very group that Obama and Hillary wrote off as an irrelevant minority. They may have gotten a little ahead of themselves, maybe it was just wishful thinking, but those forgotten Americans are not a minority just yet.

Concerns

In 2016, a new kind of Republican emerged. One who instinctively knew about the concerns of America's irrelevant class. In the beginning, he reached out to them, telling them that "We are at a decisive moment in this election. Last week, I laid out my plan to bring jobs back to our country. Yesterday, I laid out my plan to defeat Radical Islamic Terrorism. Tonight, I am going to talk about how to make our communities safe again from crime and lawlessness."

There it is. Economic anxiety over stagnant wages, terrorism and the public safety we once took for granted in America.

Donald Trump won that election as a Populist candidate.

After the left had used identity politics to win elections, it seemed that the monster they unleashed had come back to haunt them:

He won that election with 58% of the white vote, 29% of the Hispanic vote and 8% of the black vote.

https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37922587

How many self described Republicans voted for him?

The hidden concern

He would later speak of illegal immigration. Could they/should they admit it? The desire to maintain an ethnic balance within their homeland. Here is where we get into false polling and the power of political correctness. People are simply afraid to say certain things. Let me ask the question: Is it wrong for people to want to maintain an ethnic balance?  There is also a question that concerns me. With all the newcomers being weaponized by progressives, how can we simply allow American citizens to be out voted?

The coming battle

We often hear that the next election will be the most important in our lifetime. I'm afraid the 2020 election will be all of that. We are either going to save the American way of life or find ourselves living out Orwell's "1984".  Socialism and reparations are not just talking points, they are on the table. First and Second Amendment freedoms hang in the balance. A land where one's race or gender is more important than the content of one's character. What once was an incredibly strong society is now in complete free-fall. It is now being threatened by an entrenched political and social hierarchy.

Is this where the great American experiment comes to an end?

I really don't think so. jrSmiley_100_smiley_image.jpg

The "Silent Majority" spoke in 2016.....I have a feeling it's gonna be the same and different all at the same time. jrSmiley_10_smiley_image.gif

Difference:

More are coming gracefully out, saying they have left the democrat party....but that Isn't news worthy in the "Liberal Land" of "Media" !

So we now have two "Silent Majorities" the "Left" has to deal with, But they don't know it yet, or choose to ignore it again. jrSmiley_98_smiley_image.gif jrSmiley_85_smiley_image.gif

They're STILL more interested in the "LOUD" ! jrSmiley_50_smiley_image.gif

It will be the "Hillary Syndrome" all over again ! The blissful ))))shivering(((( of legs is DONE ! jrSmiley_18_smiley_image.gif

The "Real" Majority is all about this Countries "Business" ! Not some "Touchy Feely" thing anymore. We've been through 8 years of "Touchy Feely". That experiment FAILED !

That was a "Lefty" claiming "Fire" against Trump !

"Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen reached a stunning new low in his efforts to take-down the Trump administration this week; using Monday’s devastating fire at the Notre Dame Cathedral to personally attack the President of the United States."

In "Liberal Land" there is always a "Majority" when it comes to their "Loudest" side.

Didn't you know that 20 million out of approx. 320 million or so, is a "Majority" ?

That's what the "Media" feeds you !

The distance between Spain and Turkey is about the same as the distance between New Mexico and Maine or between Idaho and Florida.  All of Europe encompasses slightly more land area than the United States.  Switzerland is the same size as New York City.  Let that sink in.

Both Democrats and Republicans have dipped into the kettle of identity politics; pitting one region against another region.  Both parties are guilty of adopting European small mindedness.  Europe is made up of small countries that think small.  Just keep in mind that European small mindedness has been built upon millennia of warfare with each other.  European populism pits cities against cities and small countries against small countries.  Europe is a confederation and not a union.  Europeans simply cannot think big; that is the nature of European history and culture.

The United States is a big country that thinks big.  Consider that American populism is really about rejecting the European small mindedness that both Republicans and Democrats have been trying to impose on the country.

Nice theory. What does it means in reality?

American populism is really about speaking to Americans as a single nation.  California does not need to conquer Nevada to establish unity; the United States is already a union.

Throughout history regional differences between European nations has divided Europe.  European populism has been about one country trying to unify Europe through conquest and forcing other countries into submission.  That's the Roman model of conquest and annexation.  Both the Democratic and Republican Parties have adopted that European type of populism by using identity politics to try to divide the country and then claiming they can reunify the country through conquest and submission.

The United States is not the Roman Empire and does not aspire to become the Roman Empire.  The United States is not Europe and does not aspire to become Europe.  And American populism is completely different than European populism.  Unlike Europe, the United States does not need to conquer itself or force itself into submission.

OMG. Here is white nationalism in the open and on parade.

Could they/should they admit it? The desire to maintain an ethnic balance within their homeland. Here is where we get into false polling and the power of political correctness. People are simply afraid to say certain things. Let me ask the question: Is it wrong for people to want to maintain an ethnic balance?

The key word here is, of course "maintain". Maintain ethnic balance is a clumsily worded code for " keep America majority white".

Let me ask the question: Is it wrong for people to want to maintain an ethnic balance?

Yes, it is since that was never the intent of this country. This country was built on immigration and on the backs of the indigenous people, who for the most part welcomed the newcomers, at first.

This is not the first time in our history that people have found a reason to say, "not those people".

The protestants didn't want the Catholics. Both didn't want the Jews. The "Know Nothings" didn't even try to hide it in the 1800's

was an   American   nativist   political party   that operated nationally in the mid-1850s. It was primarily   anti-Catholic ,   xenophobic , and   hostile   to   immigration , starting originally as a   secret society . The movement briefly emerged as a major political party in the form of the American Party. Adherents to the movement were to reply "I know nothing" when asked about its specifics by outsiders, thus providing the group with its common name.

The Know Nothings believed a " Romanist " conspiracy was afoot to subvert civil and religious liberty in the United States and sought to politically organize native-born   Protestants   in what they described as a defense of their traditional religious and political values. It is remembered for this theme because of fears by Protestants that Catholic priests and bishops would control a large bloc of voters.

So what is ethnic balance in a country founded on a land of immigrants? So is this fear of change?

(footnote: when I say immigration, I am referring to legal immigration)

So what is ethnic balance in a country founded on a land of immigrants?

Ethnic "balance" is just a code word for ethnic dominance enforced by one of the ethnicities that gains enough power to manipulate the rules of a country. While the US we know today was founded by immigrants, it was quickly controlled by one group of immigrants, the white male European protestant immigrants who were the first to envision a free nation no longer under the foot of King George. While our founders envisioned a diverse free melting pot where every person could pursue their dreams, they had to compromise with those who felt their white Protestant Christian ways ought to be considered superior to all others and thus become law as well as allowing them the continued enslavement of humans who they had owned and imported for 150 years before we became our own nation. So to early Southern whites, "balance" was white Christians on top with all the rights, blacks on the bottom with none. Today, many of those same Southern whites descendants are fighting to maintain their desired "balance" with white Christians on top with all the rights, and everyone else happy they are even allowed in America's metaphorical promised land.

Yes, it is since that was never the intent of this country.

Agreed. That's the correct answer.

I do have one follow up question:

Should we expect that a wave of immigrants or refugees who have eventually attained citizenship will cast their votes beyond predictability?

For instance, the ethic groups you refer to above have all assimilated and vote as individuals. You can't predict how an Irish American or an Italian American or a German American will vote. Isn't that what I should expect from the current wave of "immigrants", most of whom have entered illegally?

The article, I presume written by the seeder, is almost landmark, at least on this site, in that it specifically associates Trump supporters with the desire to "maintain ethnic balance" , and is out of a supporters own mouth.

We hear so much about how white Trump supporters are being mislabeled by liberals.

What should we say when the Trumpers label themselves as wishing for "ethnic balance"  in the American population?

Mind you, it will be a long time before whites would not be the largest group, as a plurality, in the US.

That would be a sweeping generalization. I included that because I believe some are concerned about that. Not me. The newcomers aren't changing anything, except maybe who gets elected.

John, since liberals are so morally superior, why did Ted Kennedy tell members of the US Senate in 1965 that the new immigration law would not change the demographics of the US?

"Is this where the great American experiment comes to an end?"

Only the white Protestant patriarchy is showing signs of ending so there is nothing to fear. Of course, if you're a white male protestant who has gotten too used to privilege you may experience some periods of uncomfortable adjustment.

I can see that by including the hidden concern paragraph, I'd get your attention. Yes the white Protestant patriarchy is ending. The white Catholic Hispanic majority shall inherit the culture, whatever it is.
