S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

A large group of teens entered a Walgreens on South Street in Philadelphia. The group knocked items off the shelves, threw items at employees and left the store with unpaid merchandise.

This sort of things seems to be happening with greater frequency lately .... I wonder how it can be stopped?

I thought somebody might post this, I never thought it would be you.

The store camera's caught plenty of images. Can they be identified and prosecuted with that?

Well there's a whole 'nother side to my personality than what is usually revealed on NT! (Sometimes I can be full of surprises....)

I was thinking that even if only one or two were psoitively identified it migh help a lot. They could be charged (with whatever crimes they were shown on camera committing)-- then plea bargain-- get off entirely or with a very light sentence in exchange for identifying others...)

ANARCHY !

Can't they be looked at as young libertarians expressing their anti-authority inclinations?

More likely the libertarian would be the store owner chasing those thugs out with an Ar-15.

Meaning what?

A Maytag is a machine that provides heat and goes round and round. It's function is to dry newly washed clothes.

A Maytag is a machine that provides heat and goes round and round. It's function is to dry newly washed clothes.

Actually there's another part to that story:

The high cost of Trump's washing machine tariffs

We can hope there are benefits on the way, because the costs are already apparent. Trump once assured the public, “Trade wars are good, and easy to win.” But so far, his protectionist measures have been good mainly for extracting money from American consumers and hurting farmers.

One of his first moves was to put heavy new duties on imported washing machines, starting at 20 percent. The stated reason was that “increased foreign imports of washers and solar cells and modules are a substantial cause of serious injury to domestic manufacturers.” The main targets of the tariffs were South Korean manufacturers Samsung and LG.

How has that worked out? A new study published by the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago indicates the answer is: not well. Trump claims that tariffs are paid by foreigners, serving as a windfall to the U.S. Treasury. But economists Aaron Flaaen, Ali Hortacsu and Felix Tintelnot found that the burden actually falls on American consumers. (Read it all)

I had both a Maytag washer and drier, but the drier can be used to "spin-dry", and so for those who don't get it, it means to "spin" an excuse for or defence of those little criminals.

Absolutely, depends on your perception. Perhaps they're young socialists expressing their anti-capitalist inclinations?

I could be wrong, but my guess would be that all (or certainly most) of thesde young hooligans probably do not have any highly developed political philosophy....their motive is much cruder.

Of course that's not going to stop the intellectually challenged majority on NT from trying to see everything in light of their own biased political agendas.

Which is why so much of the discussion here is just so plain fuckin' stupid...juvenile...and off-putting to anyone with even a brain or two in their heads!)

Good point-- just another bunch of normal teenage kids-- expressing typical teenage rebelliousness! Its a normal stage all teenagers must grow through to develop!

We should not try to stop this-- that would hinder their emotional development and lower their self-esteem!

Rather, they are to be encouraged for expressing their true inner thoughts and feelings!

IInnn West Philadelphia born and raised...

What the hell was that?

If I was the owner of a company I would decide they don't want my store in their area and not reopen.

That's how they end up living in Food Deserts. Food Deserts always seem to be in areas of high crime and it's because businesses can't turn a profit when 10% of their customers are robbing them blind so they close those unprofitable stores.

(Self-deleted comment.)  I really don't feel I'm qualified to say what I think about that incident.  It's better that their countrymen explain it.
