T he list of things for which Donald Trump has no respect is very long, and includes women, minorities, the US Constitution, US intelligence agencies, science, the office of the presidency, and on and on.
But perhaps most importantly, Trump has no respect for the rule of law, and believes he should be above it. He is, after all, “the chosen one,” according to… himself.
Today he’s demonstrating that contempt for the law once again, by telling his cronies to seize private land and disregard laws and environmental regulations to get his crackpot fantasy wall built as fast as possible (so he can boast about it in his 2020 presidential campaign), and promising to pardon anyone who gets in trouble for it .

President Trump is so eager to complete hundreds of miles of border fence ahead of the 2020 presidential election that he has directed aides to fast-track billions of dollars’ worth of construction contracts, aggressively seize private land and disregard environmental rules, according to current and former officials involved with the project.
Trump knows that if the wall isn't finished and the economy tanks, his re-election chances are just about zero. The majority of farmers in the midwest will not be voting for trump again. Even a fox news poll essentially said that trump is circling the drain. I'll never say never, but I think trumps chances of winning in 2020 are slim at best and I am thinking the gop will likely lose the senate as well.
When you bundle all of this crap, it's not looking good for the GOP in 2020.
But I admit that it will be fun watching trump and fox news come up with even more conspiracy theories to explain their loss.
I think Fox 'news' is seeing it too which is why they're backing off on a lot of the favorable coverage of the 'president'

The President now wants the top removed from all of the replacement wall and he wants sharp spikes and pointy tops instead
and wants it all painted black so that it's "too hot" to climb.
The retrofits and painting will add unknown millions to the cost of each mile of "new wall" while diminishing the amount of existing fencing that can be replaced.
I bet if he asked for volunteers to paint the fence the MAGA crowd would be all over it
Another thought just popped in my head:
What if somebody goes by the local Lowe's or Home Depot and picks up some day workers to paint that fence?
I love this video. If you could actually watch it all, it gives you pause as to the scale of the project and the futility of it.
Whole American cities right up against the fence on the northern side of the wall, nothing on the south side,
but huge gaps where there are low mountains covered in dirt roads and hiking paths. Paths straight into the US.

Only saw 8 BP vehicles on the whole route - BUT - also saw five/six folks scurrying 'cross the road into the bushes on the U.S. side. Wonder if BP also saw that?
Looking at the video, one can see that there are lots of locations that a fence isn't needed and the administration at CBP recognizes that, so they're not priority items. However, there are also areas that desperately need an updated fence, especially after you leave the Yuma area heading West.

I guess the new standard is, say anything you want and as long as someone in the administration says it was a joke, all will be fine.
