Trump news - live: President’s approval rating slides further, amid scaremongering about migrants and hurricane victims in wild rally speech

Donald Trump 's approval rating has fallen to 38 per cent, down six points on his July career-best according to a new ABC News/ Washington Post , as concerns over the fate of the American economy linger.

The president held his latest “Keep America Great” rally in Fayetteville,   North Carolina , on Monday night, attacking the “America-hating left”, scaremongering about the release of “horrible, hardened criminals” in   sanctuary cities   and saying he rolled back energy efficiency standards for lightbulbs because: “I look better under incandescent light”.

On another wild evening before a crowd of his most feverish supporters, Mr Trump also made an false claim about   voter fraud   in   California   and took sole credit for the US being awarded the   2026 FIFA World Cup   and joked about serving a third term in order to be in office when the tournament gets underway.

That North Carolina rally was as bizarre as his others.

"North Carolina will truly recover so fast. I know you people so well. Let's not even talk about it. Let's not even talk about it."

After his Alabama gaffe, no wonder - but seriously. He doesn't even want to talk about it, and instead of talking about it while they were in danger, he was whining about being caught in his lie, and doubling down on it.

They'll say, you know, George Washington had a great election, too. The fake news, right? The fake news."

Honestly, how can anyone be this stupid?

"I was even (ready) to stand out in the rain and get my hair soaking wet, but they said it was a little bit out of your district."

It didn't rain. At all. But then, telling the truth about the weather is not Trump's strong point.

"But it's my hair. May not be great, but I will say it's better than most of my friends who are the same age. A lot better. A lot."

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.

Factor in that he invited the Taliban here for a meeting close to the anniversary of 9/11, I am surprised that he has any rating at all.

Trump is a great American President who keeps his promises and has done well with judges, religious liberty, national defense, taxes, and deregulation.  So well on the economy too that we are going to re elect him.  Four more years!  MAGA!

And he does it with a sense of humor! Last night he said I kept more promises than I made. That really cracked me up!  Pure Trumpian commentary. You have to love it!

No, you don't. The majority of Americans are embarrassed by having such a moron in the oval office. But don't worry, we will correct the anomaly very soon, no later than January 2021 when he is unceremoniously dumped on his ass in front of the SDNY courthouse. His fake tan skin color will then match his new wardrobe.

Not really. I just find it hard to even like a serial adulterer who cheated on all three of his wives, a man who paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep porn stars quiet during his campaign, a man who ran half a dozen businesses into bankruptcy, who refuses to release his tax returns and show us how supposedly honest he is, who calls the 79% of Jewish Americans who vote Democrat "disloyal", who calls any media who doesn't agree with him "the enemy of the people", who has been accused of sexual assault by at least 19 different women, who called Mexicans "rapists", who refused to accept the facts about Russia's illicit help to get him elected, who said he and a vile murderous authoritarian "fell in love" and wished Americans would stand up and pay attention to him like Kim Jong Un's people are forced to do for him, who falsified weather maps just to make it seem like he wasn't a complete moron by claiming a hurricane was going to hit Alabama, who admitted on tape that he "doesn't even wait" for women's consent and thinks he can just "grab them by the pussy" because he thinks himself a "star", who disrespected gold star families, repeated racist lies about our former Presidents place of birth, who has denied the facts about climate change, disrespected our allies while kneeling to our enemies, who said if he wasn't his daughters father, he'd "probably be dating her", who has diverted billions in necessary military project funds to a boondoggle southern border wall that will not make anyone safer just to appease the bigots and xenophobes in his base, has lied over 12,000 times since taking office, and the list goes on and on and on.

That is not a man I'd ever invite over for dinner, I wouldn't even hire him to shine my shoes if he was starving on the street let alone support him as President. He is the most vile, worthless, narcissistic piece of shit President we've ever had and he is an embarrassment to America which was just what Putin intended. Putin wanted America to have their own Gorbachev who he and many of the old soviet guard viewed as an embarrassment to Russia and the reason for their losing world power status. Anyone voting for Trump is playing right into the hands of a man who thinks of himself as "Vladimir the Great" as pointed out by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Those supporting Trump are supporting the downfall of American greatness, and it truly is sad to watch so many willingly bow to Putin just to stick a thorn in the side of liberals, progressives and what they viewed as the "establishment".

We, the resistance, need to understand that we are in a form of "war". Trump cannot be "normalized".  It means we have to keep mentioning the obvious, but that is the task we have been given. 35 % of the population is basically out to lunch at this point.

Trump has no comedic timing, at all. He would never even dare to be self depreciating to get a laugh. While we do not elect presidents for their sense of humor, having one is appreciated. It shows they are human just like anyone else. GWB was a horrible president, but he had a sense of humor too. Raygun? Had a sense of Humor. Clinton had a sense of humor but like trump, was terrible at his delivery. GHWB? Stuffy old school republican, not much of a sense of humor, but as a Democrat, I stand by what I have said in the past, he was a good president. Obama? Most historians have him in the top 15 best presidents in history, but he also has a gift for comedy.

Was the "mic drop"

My bad it was a phone, doesn't change the facts...

“President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States!” Obama stated, reading a tweet from then-Republican presidential candidate Trump.
“Well, @realdonaldtrump, at least I will go down as a president,” Obama said, dropping his “mic” smartphone.
And last year, the president told CBS’ 60 Minutes he believed Trump would not be elected.

From this seed:

Donald Trump 's approval rating has fallen to 38 per cent

This proves that 38% of Americans are either racists or totally misguided.

Seeing as how The Independent is a blatantly progressive left leaning publication and so is the author of the article, it is really hard to give any real credence for fairness, balance, and objectivity unless the reader is a progressive leftist liberal themselves. It is also owned by a billionaire Russian oligarch in Moscow with very close ties to Vladimir Putin.

They reported that the Gallup polls most recent polling average had Trump at 39% approval with 57% disapproval. This is a drop from recent numbers as high as 46% back in April, just as they reported. You may not like their opinions or their take on what this recent drop means, but they weren't making up the facts they presented.

Be that as it may, I stopped believing in what political polls had to say quite a while ago. Sometimes they are spot on but largely they are off by a mile. Said polls regarding Hillary Clinton in the last presidential election are a prime example. Ultimate poll results are largely determined by the parties requesting the polls.

Wonder why they ignore this report - 50%, eh???

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 35% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 41% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -6.
