The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has issued a subpoena for eight years of President   Donald Trump ’s personal and corporate income tax returns as part of an ongoing investigation, according to   a new report.

It is not clear if the DA has obtained any of tax returns he is seeking from Mazars.

Trump has refused to publicly release his tax returns despite a long-standing practice by past presidents who did so.

Marc Mukasey, a lawyer for the Trump Organization, in an email to CNBC when asked about the subpoena, said “We are evaluating and will respond as appropriate.”

Mazars USA, in an emailed statement, said, “Mazars USA will respect the legal process and fully comply with its legal obligations.”

“We believe strongly in the ethical and professional rules and regulations that govern our industry, our work and our client interactions. As a matter of firm policy and professional rules we do not comment on the work we conduct for our clients,” the firm said.

Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for Trump did not immediately respond to a respond to a request for comment. A spokesman for Vance had no immediate comment.

Vance’s office was already known to be investigating the Trump Organization in connection with hush money payments made shortly before the 2016 presidential election to porn star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had sex with Trump years earlier.

Trump and his company reimbursed Michael Cohen, the president’s former personal lawyer and fixer, for the $130,000 payment he made to Daniels. Vance, at least originally, was eyeing whether the Trump Organization falsified business records related to thed payoff to Daniels.

Trump is a known crook and they need to investigate him as long as it takes to prove the truth.

I guess now that he doesn't have to work for jefferey Epstein , Vance can turn his attention to other partisan needs.

I could be wrong but my guess is that he won't hand them over-- subpoena or no subpoena.

(Actually I'm surprised thsat anyone would even believe that Trump would obey this-- he has zero respect for the rule of law. Like any criminal, eventually he'll go down-- but it won't be soon)

I agree.  Trump appears invincible.  Money-Sex-Dictator Love Letters-Adoration of Autocrats/Plutocrats-Contradicting Statements-And Everything/Anything else.

However, this man Trump does have many Achilles Heels.  I suspect that when one of them begin their affliction the crash and burn will be sudden.  The danger will be what is left that will have to be dealt with and rectified.  Trump appears to be a person that if he has to suffer consequence he 'pour suffering and pain' on everyone and everything he can.

As far as Trump's taxes?  He is a liar, cheat and a fraud.  Same thing he's always been.  Always!

As far as his fervent base?  'Let them eat cake.'
