President  Donald Trump  dragged Vice President  Mike Pence ’s name into his growing  Ukraine  scandal on Wednesday.

The White House released a  summary of a conversation  in which Trump pressured Ukrainian President  Volodymyr Zelensky  to investigate 2020 Democratic presidential front-runner  Joe Biden  and his son, Hunter Biden. But Trump said he was not the only one to speak to Zelensky.

“I think you should ask for Vice President Pence’s conversation because he had a couple of conversations also,” Trump said.

Trump also said he and Pence would both be exonerated, and called the vice president’s conversations with Ukraine “perfect.”

Critics of the administration are now envisioning a scenario in which both Trump and Pence end up impeached. While it would take an unlikely sequence of events for that to happen, the reaction caused # PresidentPelosi  to trend Wednesday night and Thursday morning, given that the speaker of the House would be next in the line of succession:

This is just another example why I no longer trust our main stream media. This headline has nothing in the article to provide any meat to the story without a healthy dose of wishful thinking. Hardly throwing him under the bus...  The headline has one purpose, to generate online clicks which translate into money because that's what our MSM has become.

I really miss the days when the news was presented as news and not driven to generate money from advertisers.

Treasonous? Is that like telling Vladimir that you will have more flexibility after the election?

Nope. It's telling Vladimir that you believe him over the United States own intelligence community. It's continually giving Vladimir cover by lying for him, telling the American people that it wasn't Russia who spent $1.25 million a month to get Trump elected, telling the American people it wasn't Russia who illegally hacked US citizen emails and released them in an effort to help Trump and hurt his opponent. It's telling the Russian Agent Maria Butina “I believe I would get along very nicely with Putin. I don’t think you would need the sanctions,” during the campaign, clearly signaling to Russia that Trump had Putin's back. It's literally asking Russia for help during the election "Russia, if you're listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,”.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court." - United States Constitution. Article III, section 3

So he can have Crimea and invade Ukraine and I won’t do anything but a firm knock it off.

You mean following the law and going to congress for approval to respond to Russia's illegal actions? So really it was the Republicans who were in charge and refused to authorize any real response that are the traitors, thanks for pointing that out.

You mean the 30,000 emails that Hillary deleted while under subpoena?

So you still have nothing and have to return to "But, but, but Hillary's emails!" and follow it up with a "But Trump was just joking...".

Tell that to Russia, they apparently didn't get the joke, but they got the message.

On the day Trump said "Russia, if you're listening..." Russia did in fact kick their hacking efforts into high gear.

"according to the indictment, which was announced Friday, Russian actors sent phishing emails to accounts at a domain used by Clinton’s personal office. They also targeted 76 email addresses on the domain used by the Clinton campaign, though the exact timing of both of those efforts is unclear."

Did you know Mexico is going to pay for the wall, he has a wonderful health care plan, he is going to give a middle class tax cut, he knows more than generals, tariffs are going to pay for themselves, he believes Putin over our own intelligence agencies.  He had the biggest inaugural crowd (according to him, but in reality no he did not).  He doesn't know decorum if it bite him in the nose, when he met the Queen of England the buffoon turned his back on her.  He won't listen to anyone.  He loves Mr. XYZ until Mr. XYZ does not agree with him and then Mr. XYZ gets called every name in the book.

He is a vindictive liar, cheater, swindler, king of bankruptcies, pussy grabber and thinks anything and everything he does not matter how disgraceful is no big deal

And now the lastest treasonous act of trying to fuck over an American citizen by being dishonest with a foreign country.

He stiffed how many American workers with all his bankruptcies.

I can go on and on and on and on and on.

I am mystified as to how anyone thinks he is anywhere near a good president...

I wonder if he sent Obama a thank you note for Crimea?

Putin sent the "Thank You" to Republicans who blocked any action after Obama followed the law and went to them for authorization. Putin's thank you was in the form of illegal aide during the 2016 campaign and it was heard and welcomed them with open arms. Putin hated Obama and blamed him for what he saw as election meddling from the US in the March 4, 2012 Russian sham election where the US verbally supported free and fair elections which were exactly the opposite of what Putin wanted for Russia.

Easier to be 'all powerful' when you don't care about protocol and the law.  Not to mention getting his orders from a higher authority who also doesn't bother with following the law.  The puppetmaster is pleased with his poodle.  Or wombat.  Or orange cockwomble.  I'm sure he has a lot of nicknames.  And Moscow Mitch has been in full cooperation and compliance.

I heard Mitch McConnell is so powerful he prevented Barry from doing anything. and yet trump is so powerful he can do what ever he wants. weird huh?

Considering Trump has had his party in control of the Senate for his entire first term, it's clear that makes a big difference in getting any political agenda accomplished. Trump wouldn't be getting any of his malignant agenda done if Democrats had controlled the Senate. You do understand how that works right? And Trump is certainly not "all powerful" but with the help of a spineless Republican legislature and an enemy foreign government willing to shill for him and deploy assets to help Trump win he does have more power than Obama did from 2011 to 2016 where Republicans basically sat on their hands or fiddled like Nero as they watched the last vestiges of a "United" States burn. And after ginning up fear and hatred of Democrats they blamed it all on Obama and convinced the poorly educated masses that everything was broken so they might as well elect a worthless cretin who pandered to white supremacists and bitter protectionists as President.

I don't want that either. How does any of this involve Ukraine in our election? Or conversely, what interaction with any foreign government would not involve them in our election? If a country cooperates with the president in any way, it could make the president look good, helping his reelection.

patriotic Americans who understand (and believe) the it is the CONGRESS that appropriates our dollars

Presidents routinely freeze some or all of an appropriation. They have some authority to do that. There is nothing in the transcript of the conversation with the Ukrainian president that connects that aid to the request.

Not when the Vice President is the most likely opponent in your reelection bid

I'm sorry, but that cannot be a policy you support. You're really telling me that the president of these United States must cease any inquiry into the official actions of elected officials just because they are running for election to his job? That's insane.

Besides, that issue had already been investigated .

Are you talking about Biden Jr or Biden Sr? Even if Biden Jr is clean, there may be something unethical in what Biden Sr did. Or maybe not. The current president should be allowed to look into it.

and the found no crime

Bob Mueller investigated the possibility of collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign. He found there was none. Democrats couldn't care less. They go right on insisting there was collusion and investigating something that is supposed have been found not to have happened. So why should Trump just quit investigating?

But prosecutors provided little, if any, mitigating information pointing to Trump's innocence.

In fact, they emphasized, "If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, however, we are unable to reach that judgment."

Mueller stated on numerous occasions that it was not his place to indict a sitting president. He gave the report to Congress to act upon but not before Barr got his fat little hands on it and re-interpreted it to make trump look innocent.

Mueller never exonerated trump no matter how you slice it or dice it. And you know this.

In 2013, Obama froze aid to Egypt , although he was under a lot of pressure to freeze more than he did. Two years later, he released the aid, both acts coming under his own authority.

In 2009, Obama suspended aid to Honduras and Madagascar, following coups there, and did the same in 2012 regarding assistance to Mali.

In 2017, Trump froze aid to the Palestinian Authority , and it failed to become a national scandal. Not much talk of him exceeding his authority or "extorting" anyone.

On August 3 of this year , the administration froze between $2 billion and $4 billion of aid to several countries and organizations in Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia .

In January of 2018, Trump froze $255 million in aid to Pakistan, after previously freezin aid the summer before.

Going back further, in 2006, Bush froze aid to Thailand.

Of course, Congress doesn't always sit quietly by while the president does this kind of thing and his authority to hold up aid varies depending on the situation. When it does happen, I don't think it lasts for very long. Obama holding up aid to Egypt for two years seems pretty unusual.

Sometimes the more efficient solution is for the president to cut aid in his proposed budget. Then he probably avoids a constitutional fight down the road. I don't know if Trump things that far ahead. To be honest, I kind of doubt it.

Yeah, my understanding is that it's a requirement, but that hinges on how one defines a coup. When it came up under the Obama administration, he didn't always want to call it a coup (Egypt, for example). In Ukraine, Trump seemed to be making the argument that the existing government was too corrupt to be trusted with aid.

Taking him at his word for a moment (please withhold laughter), that is an issue we have confronted in the past (e.g. Nigeria, Ethiopia, and other African countries). There is often pressure to withhold aid to the country, knowing that corrupt officials will just use the money to buy another mansion somewhere, but I don't think the president has as much authority in that circumstance. That may be the reason Trump had to change his mind so quickly.

I suppose you could argue anything, but I wouldn't say so. However, I don't see it in the current situation. The release of aid apparently happened independently of any request. In fact, the aid has already been unfrozen and nothing has happened in the way of an investigation. Just saying "we're friends, so do me a solid" doesn't quite equate to buying aid for a campaign.

The liberal news media has a problem because after they were so incredibly wrong on the Russia hoax, it's hard to take anything from them seriously. It's sad to have to say but they made a business decision to lie about Trump when they knew there was nothing there for over 2 years. Your constant attacks on real Americans is both sad and disgusting. You have added nothing to the conversation other than to malign and lie about patriotic Americans and its getting old. I get it, you're stuck in your ways and can't see anything past your hatred of law abiding tax paying American citizens simply because they don't accept your narrow brand of faith. No matter how hard you cry and whine about Democrats, liberals, progressives, Muslims, immigrants, atheists, lgtbq Americans and everyone else you obviously despise, America is growing more diverse every year and that's not going to change even with a vile piece of shit like Trump in the white house. Go ahead, gnash your teeth, cry and complain, call everyone socialists, statists, Marxists, communists, whatever fantasy attack you want, it won't make a bit of difference as the majority of Americans continue to support freedom, justice and equality for all regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith or lack thereof.

I'm not trying to make you believe anything. I have gotten tired of some peoples constant attacks on entire groups of Americans who have done nothing wrong but love this country but are told they are "the single greatest threat" to this country. There are some who attack others just for being liberal, progressive, gay or transgender. I try hard not to attack anyone personally just because they're a religious conservative, but I frequently attack the religious conservative idea that we are somehow a "Christian nation" and not a diverse nation of immigrants made stronger by our diversity of faith, race and sexual orientation.

Hopefully you can see the sarcasm in the first line of my comment where I was simply repeating the same nonsense back to lfod that he was throwing out at Democrats in general. It was intended to make a point as I do not actually feel all Republicans are "a cancer" as lfod claimed of Democrats. The implication of course is that he believes Democrats should be cut out of society or perhaps poisoned to death through metaphorical evangelical Christian chemotherapy. I've said many times that I do wish Americans could come together behind a common goal or to deal with a common threat or common enemy. I would have thought that we would have come together to push back on the blatant election interference from Russia, what I believe to be our common enemy with a known murderous dictator who greatly desires to sabotage western democracy and everything America stands for. But sadly that didn't happen. Instead, we saw polls of Republicans where as many as 40% viewed Russia as a friend and ally, even after their election interference. Vladimir Putin truly is the greatest threat to America and our ideals that I've seen in my lifetime, far worse than any former head of Russia even back into the cold war days. And to hear another fellow American proclaim that it's not Putin or Russia but other law abiding American citizens who are the "greatest threat" just boggles the mind.

Liberals, progressives, Democrats, immigrants and minorities, in general, desire an America that has room for everyone. Whether you're Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist or LGTBQ, we can all get along if everyone treats others as they would like to be treated. But there are some, not all, but some, who don't think there isn't room for everyone and are working hard to undermine our founders ideals going so far as to misrepresent our founders words in an effort to close down the borders and create some Berlin wall-like protectionist nation that doesn't welcome diversity and believes those who look different, worship different or are attracted to relationships not approved of by some faiths, should "get out" as if those clinging to the old white Christian patriarchy are the only "legitimate" Americans who deserve the protections provided by our constitution.

I too get tired of all the, Liberals are evil, shit. Democrats are the true enemy crap. The progressive people want to destroy the nation all the while, they themselves, backing legislation and thought that are detrimental to society/the US.

It is almost like that is the only way they can stay in power. Demonize and make a group of people an enemy. Always make it 'us against them'. That there is only one version of the US, their version, and they have the key.

Funny how when Obama was in power, Russia was bad. How dare Obama tell them that after the election, he would have more room to negotiate. Now Putin is admired by these same people.

It is now acceptable to embrace and love murderous dictators, agree with Putin over our own intelligence agencies, condemn our allies and blame everything on some of their own countrymen.

The virulent tribalism lfod espouses to dehumanize and demonize at least half his fellow Americans is toxic to the American body politic. There is no path forward with those of such false grace. Therefore modern society must advance without such hindering anchors leaving them in our dust...

I would be interested in hearing your definition of "real" Americans.

"Real" Americans are those who embrace what our nation truly stands for, the ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, freedom, justice and equality for all regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith or lack thereof. Real Americans can come from anywhere and look like anyone and speak any language. Real Americans embrace the Statue of Liberty and what she represents and who she is as the poem states she is "The Mother of Exiles" and proclaims to the rest of the world "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me". Real Americans don't attack and discriminate against those who are merely different from them, or those who worship a different God or none. Real Americans do not have spite in their hearts for those who happen to look different, love different or feel their inside gender doesn't match their outside gender, they treat them just the same as they would like to be treated, with kindness and respect and have no problem serving them in businesses open to the public. Real Americans aren't selfishly trying to hoard American resources as if there isn't enough to go around, bitter at those who have more than themselves or condescending to those who have less. They share their bread with their fellow Americans regardless of our differences and they stand together to honor and respect those who protect our nation from threats and those who have given their lives protecting American values.

Thank You

for expressing what so many actually feel, in our country that has become undone, as I will always salute ones who realize what our founding fathers had envisioned.

Very distinctly and respectfully stated

A tact, I often lack, though, I'm well aware you share similar frustration, as irregardless of the solid origins of your concisely created corespondence, you might possibly see how arguments stated from facts, are attemptedly debunked by deflection, straw men, and out and out False hoods

..

again, excellently expressed,

 and non combative.

I have not your patience

High fives! So well said and written.  So right on!  That is what "real Americans"  are in spite of what is in their wallets or their lot in life. Who these others are has to come from very bitter immigrants who carried their segregationist/superiority complex ideas with them. How else does this hate get instituted and a part of any family's genealogy or part of American history? (The Civil War told everything!) Yes, we have been fighting hate since day one this country decided to end England's rule and to shoot to find a more perfect union. We got here through the ideals you have so eloquently listed. Although long  from perfect but also long from a horrendous past.

600,000 died in the name of hate, and the will to fight against egregious human violations because some thought themselves superior.  The south and their way of hating found its fate already.

We either learn by our mistakes or rinse and repeat. I see some who want to rinse and repeat.  I just roll my eyes and wonder how in the hell did they continue to be so stupid!?!

Well, it's a shallow attempt to spin the fact that Nancy Pelosi's slapping a 'new and improved' label on the ongoing Democratic political investigations was an abdication of control over the Democratic House.  Pelosi isn't in charge any longer; she has become just a figurehead.

Calling the ongoing Democratic political investigations 'impeachment investigations' doesn't change anything.  There wasn't a vote in the House to provide credence to the claim.  Pelosi was forced to accede to factions within the Democratic Party that are challenging Pelosi's leadership.  Pelosi lost; there's no other way to describe what has happened.  While this does provide the corrupt press an opportunity to sell more advertising, nothing concerning the ongoing investigations to dig up political dirt have changed.

And Trump  did not throw Mike Pence under the bus.  Mike Pence conversing with Zelensky is going to be reported eventually.  Trump just disclosed those conversations and took away a 'breathtaking' disclosure from the corrupt press.

Trump is well ahead of the hair-on-fire press once again; Trump gets this scoop.

While it will never happen, someone over on fox news, (comment section), said that it IS possible. Trump and Pence are impeached, (or resign), Pelosi is POTUS, takes Hillary as VP, Pelosi resigns.

Of course it's a massive pipe dream that would never happen, but, it would be funny as hell watching the nutters heads explode.

For six months?

The House won't vote on articles of impeachment before the end of the year because there are several long recesses.  An impeachment trial will drag on past the end of primaries.  So, Pelosi would be a six month President without any opportunity for reelection.  And Pelosi would lose the the House Speaker's position.

Under that scenario, electing the first woman President would lose its luster as a political selling point.  A short term political win would carry a very high cost for Democrats.

Why?  The fear is that Pelosi will stall on impeachment to run out the clock.

Keep in mind that the Democratic Senators running for President would need to recuse themselves from an impeachment trial.  So, any attempt at impeachment will need to wait until Joe Biden pretty much has the nomination locked up and the Senators drop out of the race.

I do not know if any Republicans (or Democrats) recused themselves from Clinton's impeachment trial..  The impeachment of Bill Clinton occurred in the middle of Clinton's second term and affected midterm elections.

The Mueller investigation was timed to coincide with the middle of Trump's first term.  The political collapse of the Mueller probe really did stymie Democrat's efforts to impeach Trump.
