GOP Rep Slams Trump's Quoting Of Pastor's 'Civil War' Warning As 'Beyond Repugnant'

President  Donald Trump  ominously raised the possibility of national violence Sunday if he is removed from office, quoting an evangelical pastor who warned on Fox News of a “Civil War-like” fracture.

Illinois Republican Rep.  Adam Kinzinger,  an Air Force veteran of Iraq, quickly slammed Trump’s tweet as “beyond repugnant,” adding: “I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President.”

The Rev.  Robert Jeffress  said in an interview Sunday (see the video above) that “ removing the president ” will “cause a Civil War-like fracture in this nation from which this country will never heal.”

“I have  never seen them more angry ,” Jeffress said of evangelicals.

Jeffress, a right-wing pastor based in Dallas and powerful Trump supporter, has said that  Jews are going to hell . He has characterized both Islam and Mormonism as heresies from the “ pit of hell ,”  and called evangelical Christians who don’t support Trump  “morons.”

Sen.  Brian Schatz  (D-Hawaii) also slammed Trump’s tweet.

“This is just a reprehensible way to talk and people could get hurt,” Schatz warned. He added that this “isn’t about partisan teams anymore.”

Sen.  Chris Murphy  (D-Conn.) cited Trump’s warning in a tweet and wondered if Republicans will now support the impeachment inquiry against the president — and condemn him in “strong, unequivocal terms.”

In addition to the outrage expressed by politicians against Trump’s tweet, other followers of the president were stunned:

And you don't think there's a chance that some of the far right supporters might not take things to extremes?

Do the names Cesar Sayoc, Edgar Welch, or Jarrett Smith ring a bell?

There are people out there that are not intelligent enough to parse his words. They see "war" and that's what they think he wants

Trumpster battle hymn

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Trump
He is turning our great country into a mental garbage dump
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His runaway ego
His lies are marching on

Glory, Glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His lies are marching on

I have seen Him in the twitter of a hundred conspiracies
They have builded Him an altar in the evening swamps and trees
I can read His righteous nonsense by the dim and flaring lamps
His lies are marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His lies are marching on

If the pastor wants to go political, let him loose his tax exemption.  Then see how fast he shuts up.

Trump tweeting that idiot's words is basically sending the word out to his deplorables to do it.

Indeed, but, it is more like begging them to do it. And it will work with some of this more brain dead supporters, but, most will realize the danger involved in going against our own military.

Yep, just ignore the sentiment and it will go away.

Republicans really did have alternatives to Trump; there were sixteen other Republican candidates.  Primary voters chose Trump.  And even with the silly argument that Clinton got more votes, Clinton still only received 48 pct of the vote.  Trump really did win the election because voters chose Trump.

Remove Trump from office and the country will still end up with another Trump, at some point.  Ignoring the concerns and dissatisfaction of voters won't address the underlying issues.  Democrats have chosen to ignore voters; have chosen to lecture voters rather than listen.  So, Democrats have adopted a political strategy that will only ensure another Trump in the future.

But that's how Democrats started the last Civil War, too.  And the last Civil War didn't end well for Democrats.

This time around they have Twitter.

Twitter is a tool for challenging conventional wisdom.  Twitter is a forum suited for reactionaries and activists; not for stalwart defenders of the status quo

AOC can effectively use Twitter to challenge the Democratic establishment; Nancy Pelosi cannot use Twitter to defend the status quo or sell conventional wisdom.

Twitter is why we will eventually end up with another Trump.

I wonder if Trump's base is stocking up on guns in preparation for the civil war he thinks will happen.

There are likely some who will, and the NRA will gladly make it easy for them. The brain dead, gun happy militias will also likely volunteer their services as well. Stupid is as stupid does.

But, the more than likely outcome will be that Trump will throw them all under the bus at some point to save his own skin as he has done all along.
