Nikki Haley: Canada made a 'deal with the devil'

The former UN ambassador described the monthly Security Council meetings as a "monthly Israel bashing session.

Former US Ambassador to the UN   Nikki Haley   condemned Canada for voting in favor of an anti-Israel General Assembly resolution claiming that in their actions the government made a "deal with the devil."

Haley made the proclamation at the UN Watch Gala in New York City on Thursday, adding that Canada is “trading its integrity for a seat on the Security Council” by using the vote to damage the State of Israel, according to the Algemeiner.

“Two weeks ago, Canada surprised Israel’s friends by voting for a North Korean resolution that challenges the legitimacy of Israel,” Haley said. “This is a resolution that Canadian governments for years have voted against.”

She described the monthly UN Security Council meetings as a "monthly Israel bashing session" and explained that the group consists of a "culture of bullies" who fail to live up to its expected character.

“If we want to talk about security in the   Middle East , we should talk about Iran or Syria or Hezbollah or Hamas or ISIS or the famine in Yemen,” Haley explained. “There are about ten major problems facing the Middle East, and Israel doesn’t have anything to do with any of them.”

In addition to the anti-Israel resolutions, Haley pointed out that on the Un Human Rights council there are currently multiple nations, such as China, Cuba, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, who currently hold voting and/or lobbying power - and more who are set to join this January.

“Many encouraged us to remain on the council because the United States, they said, provided the last shred of credibility the Human Rights Council had,” Haley concluded. “And that was precisely why we decided to leave. The United States should not lend any credibility to this cesspool of political hypocrisy and corruption.”

I'm proud to be a Canadian, and I'll stand for its anthem and salute its flag, but I sure as hell am not proud of its Prime Minister.  But contrary to how Americans ridiculously voice their feelings about their POTUS not being THEIR president, I'm sorry to say that unfortunately Trudeau IS my Prime Minister.  I really hope for a Parliamentary vote of confidence to be lost by his minority government, so a new election would be held.

As for Nikki Haley, notwithstanding the Democrats doing their damned best to twist what she said about the media recently, if I were an American, not only would I vote for her to be POTUS, I'd campaign and even knock on doors for her.

I'm glad you support the Canadians in being able to choose what type of government they have and who governs them. I feel the same about the people in China and Hong Kong.

I am just as comfortable and happy here as I was in Canada, and the nature of the government has no effect on me one way or the other.  If anything I've been respected and treated extremely well by all the government officials and police I have come in contact with.  Why would I complain?  In the three cities I've lived in and all of the ones I've visited since I came here I've heard not one word of complaint by anyone I have come in contact with.

Are they free to complain about their dictator that same way you complain about some members of the US government and Trudeau?

Maybe they don't have reason to.  I certainly don't.  Oh, wait, yes I do - it's an inconvenience that I can't open a lot of internet videos, but I can live without them and I don't intend to start a revolution over it.

Not all of them feel that way. Over the summer NPR had an interview with a woman that was teaching in China and was arrested for simply showing her class a photo of the Tiananmen Square incident and explaining to them what it was. Just last week they had protests in China overturning police cars near the Hong Kong border.

Today we are getting reports of hundreds of thousands of pro democracy protesters taking to the streets in Hong Kong many waving American flags because they want to be like the USA not ruled by communists in the future.

LOL.  A teacher attempting to cause dissent among her students - and I guess a teacher in the USA who preaches Communism to her students is not going to get into trouble - for sure YOU wouldn't be happy if the students were YOUR kids, eh?

There were protests by the public because an offensive use was going to be constructed in their neighbourhood - that doesn't happen in the USA I suppose, and as the article clearly said, protests of that nature do happen from time to time just like protests happen all over the world. It might not have happened if the residents had not seen on TV, as I have because it's on Chinese News TV, the extreme rioting in HK.  The protest was successful there, the offensive use was withdrawn, just as the extradition law was withdrawn in HK.  The protests that grew from that were, in my opinion, caused by the USA.

Thie HK demonstrators want to have a democracy like the USA.  And when Americans wanted to be Communists in the USA, there were the McCarthy Hearings, were there not?  Beijing will live up to its end of the bargain with the UK, and in my opinion, and the residents of HK have a future of being governed by Beijing, like it or not.

I have no idea if I'm being monitored, and I have no reason to be concerned if I am.  If in fact my internet use is being monitored, why have I not been contacted about it since I have received so much anti-Chinese propaganda on NT and elsewhere over the years?  Nobody is shadowing me to make sure I comply with everything here.  And as I've said over and over again, I'm treated with respect by any officials and police I have come in contact with, even invited to banquets by some.  Here's one of my friends. I don't "kow-tow" to him and I know he's not going to "detain" me.

Actually I think most of the teachers in the public schools here are a bunch of pinko commies. That’s why I’m a fan of the charter schools and private educations but I realize not everyone can do that.

Communist are allowed here.

Where did he do that? Or do you mean because he forgot to toss in the left wing talking points for the day on a article that doesn't have a damn thing to do with the rebel flag?

Haley is right Canada has sold its soul to the left wing, just like here in the U.S. the people will awaken and cast out the left.

You support Nikki Haley solely because she is a vocal supporter of Israel.

But the confederate flag means "nothing" to you.

So you support politicians or not based solely on their attitude toward Israel.

And you wonder why some people give you a hard time.

I'm not the only one who thinks Haley would be a great POTUS.  You don't, only because she isn't a Democrat.  How narrow is THAT?  I loved JFK and even in Canada I was shocked and exceptionally saddened when he was killed.  He was a Democrat.   I supported Liberal Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Justin's father, when he was Prime Minister - I thought he was fantastic.  But I have supported Liberals and I have supported Conservatives, and I have preferred Democrats and I have preferred Republicans - I do not support or prefer because of some narrow-minded loyalty to a Party like you do, I support the PERSON WHO I THINK WOULD DO THE BEST JOB.  That's how you and I differ.

And yes, it's true that I would prefer to see a POTUS who is supportive of Israel, rather than one who wants to control or interfere with its policies by cutting back on the military aid.  I've already posted on NT that of all the current candidates for the 2020 election I would vote for Bloomberg if I could.  Does that make me a Bloombergster in your vernacular?  Or are you going to criticize me for that too?

Haley is wrong.  Israel made 'the deal' with it's own right wing and an opportunistic, visionless Trump.

By "their capital" do you mean Israel's capital?  Israel's capital IS Jerusalem.   If you mean moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem....

"Sixty-nine years after Israel declared Jerusalem as its capital, and 23 years after the US Congress passed a law mandating that Washington move its embassy there , the US formally opened its embassy in the city on Monday afternoon, in a move Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called "courageous" and "momentous.""

The 'right' was not Trump's.  He is merely the first president since the creation of the Israeli state to be in favor of the change of the Israeli capital city.  The move is a political calculation.
