Trump Unpopular Among Active Duty Military

In Trumps upside down world, everyone that matters loves him.

Don't expect to hear a relevant comment from him about the fact that a poll from Military Times shows him to be surprisingly unpopular among those serving their country in the armed forces.

Twice as many active duty have a very unfavorable view of Trump than have a very favorable view of him.

Maybe he will call Military Times magazine a socialist/communist publication.

===========================================================

Trump is almost as unpopular with the military as Obama was, and right wingers mocked Obama for that.

However, as is the case with every negative fact about their cult leader,  Trump cultists will simply deny reality and declare him to be invincible.

It is hilarious that you post how bad Trump is "viewed" in some poll when his numbers actually beat Obama's!

Say, I bet good money you never posted that poll when Obama was President!

Who cares anyways?

It is just a poll that carries no real weight or meaning.

But we know how much you love you some polls that show anything negative about your President!

All poll results are subjective and subject to the whims of those initiating said polls as well as to the demographics and numbers of people polled. That is the big fallacy of polls and that is why I put very little stock in them. When only a hundred or even a thousand, results are still inaccurate. Polls of military personnel are no different from those of their civilian counterparts. Said results are just as skewed.

And we would expect what else from your POLLS John???

WASHINGTON — A majority of veterans surveyed recently said they support President Donald Trump as leader of the armed forces, though some of them question his ability to make the right decision when using military force and nuclear weapons, according to  a recent report  by the Pew Research Center.

The center, a nonpartisan think tank based in Washington, based its results on an online survey of 1,284 military veterans. The survey results from the summer were compiled before the most recent tensions between the United States and Iran. In 2018, Trump pulled the U.S. out of a nuclear deal with Iran that has heightened tensions between the two nations and has led to several incidents recently in the Persian Gulf region, including the downing of an unarmed U.S. drone.

The purpose of the study was to gauge whether there is a difference in opinion between the veteran community and the general public on the performance and judgment of Trump, according to report. Overall, the survey results show veterans generally have a more favorable rating of Trump than the general public does. The survey of veterans found 57% approve of Trump in his execution of duties as commander in chief. Almost half, or 48%, said they believe Trump administration policies have made the military stronger. That is more than the Trump administration’s approval rating of approximately 41% among the general public, according to the survey results.

As we all know John, you can find any result you want from the poll results you post.  Try looking for positive stuff - after all, it's two days before Christmas - supposedly a good time of the year - not a trash time.

Have a Merry Christmas.

This is one of the problems with Newstalkers.   Your reply does not address what I seeded.

The poll in the seed is of active duty military. The poll you mention is of veterans, many of which could be 60 , 70, 80 years old and much more likely to be trump supporters for that reason alone.

As far as being positive about Trump, in your dreams.

Your introduction doesn't include a seeded article. Second time in about a week, if I'm not mistaken.

Im not sure you understand how Newstalkers works. The OP does not have to include a link. It has to include words and an explanation of a topic for discussion.

John - you do realize, of course, that there are MORE veterans than there are "active duty" military - right?

If you don't cover the whole spectrum, your poll is worthless - as are most polls.

The article is not a seed. My mistake for referring to it as such.

In the two images, their origin in Military Times is acknowledged specifically.

I have no idea what you or the others are complaining about. Either comment on the content or leave me alone.

Additional point John - veteran's, IMHO, are folks who served in a hostile/combat arena.  That would include folks who are still on active duty plus those who have been "Honorably" discharged, provided they performed/were exposed to a hostile/combat environment.  That's why I posted the info listing the veterans because, again, IMHO, that also includes active duty personnel.

Make it any clearer?

By those rules that would make your poll worthless as well...1294 out of 18.2 million vets. Not much of a sampling.

That's my point Kavika - pollsters take a very small sample of likes/dislikes of a large population and "try" to make/develop a "trend" of larger proportions - and it just don't work.  Same thing with a statistical database.  Small sample to explain a large consensus - it don't work.

Since the article wasn't seeded, here's a link:

Half of active-duty service members are unhappy with Trump, new Military Times poll shows

From the article:

"The poll surveyed 1,630 active-duty Military Times subscribers in partnership with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University. The numbers likely reflect a more career-minded subset of the military than the force as a whole, according to Peter Feaver, a former White House adviser to former President George W. Bush who is now a political science professor at Duke University."

So, the title of the article is deliberately intended to be click bait rather than a statement of fact.  The facts are that half of a subset of active-duty service members are unhappy with Trump.  The poll may tell us something important but doesn't tell the entire story.

That statement should more accurately read: "Half of active-duty service members polled are unhappy with Trump, new Military Times poll shows."

Active duty military personnel , in an all volunteer military, are arguably among the most patriotic of all citizens.

If Donald Trump has Made America Great Again, why do only 1 in 4 of these most patriotic of people have a very favorable opinion of him?

Elaine McCusker, the Pentagon comptroller, said the now-unfunded projects are not being canceled. Instead, the Pentagon is saying the military projects are being “deferred.”

The Pentagon reviewed the list of military projects and said none that provided housing or critical infrastructure for troops would be affected.

Please stay on topic.

Either flag my comment or stop whining.

From YOUR link:

Defense officials also said they would focus on projects set to begin in 2020 and beyond, with the hope that the money could eventually be restored by Congress.

So as far as you're concerned, it's all good that the DOJ 'deferred' military construction projects for a YEAR and now they are counting on the Congress to 'restore' money that Trump stole.

Oh and Elaine McCusker, the Pentagon comptroller's Ukraine emails are interesting, don't you think?
