Iran launches 'revenge' rocket attacks at US troops in Iraq

Iran has launched "tens" of missiles at Iraq's Ain Assad air base housing US troops following the killing of the country's top general.

Iranian state TV described the attacks as Tehran's revenge operation over the killing of General Qassem Soleimani.

NBC News reporting many rockets fired at multiple US facilities inside Iraq.

Iran has taken full responsibility.

This would be the first time Iran has been involved "personally" involved in an attack on US forces.

They were a little late. Fox News had it 15 minutes ago. I had it up 9 minutes ago.

Didn't they declare 30 missiles?  Then 15? Now 12, maybe...

patience is a virtue, especially when reporting "breaking news".

Good thing we are already at war with Iran , otherwise this sort of thing might seem significant.

Holy shit batman  When was war declared?

All I've seen on this site for four days is that we had a right to kill the Iranian general (who was an official member of the Iranian government ) because we are at war with Iran.

No, once again you cannot read.

Iran has always been at war with the US; even if we are not at war with them.

Still upset that a terrorist was killed it seems.

[deleted] Does 1983 not bring any memories of Iran versus the U.S.????

Iran has been attacking US troops since 2001 when we went into Afghanistan and 2003 when we went into Iraq.

Actually Jeremy it's been a lot longer than that.

The 1983 bombing of the US Embassy in Beirut killing 17 Americans including soldier/Marine and CIA and embassy personal.

Followed six months later with the suicide bombing of the US Marine Corps barracks at the Beirut airport.

Also throw in the kidnapping and killing of the CIA station chief in Beirut, Wm. Buckley among others.

The administration at that time did nothing. Big mistake.

Interesting question - Iran has just rocketed Iraq in the desperate search to kill American troops.  IMHO, Iran just declared war on Iraq.

So, where is the outrage against Iran for putting Iraqi citizens in harms way when Iraq has nothing to do with Iran????

It is my understanding that Iran was invited into Iraq when ISIS was taking the country over. They did fight ISIS at that time.

But, the ISIS "fight" is over (say all the warmongers), so Iran has no need to be bombing Iraq - another sovereign territory, especially since the U.S. is not an enemy of Iraq and we are there at Iraq's invitation and approval.

Or, could it be implied that Iraq is supportive of Iran in its boost to war with the U.S.?

The fight against ISIS is not over as has been stated by a number of US experts.

If Iraq did indeed invite Iran into Iraq and have not asked them to leave (something that it seems they want the US to do) then it would seem that that they have a better relationship with Iran than the US.

UN and NATO just suspended their operation against ISIS.

Denmark and Sweden are bringing their troops home.

Britain just announced that all of their people have been moved to Kuwait.

Kuwait, especially Camp Arifjan is a target rich environment if Iran decides to launch missiles there or

at the glass cities of Dubai.

Boeing 737 crashes in Tehran during takeoff. No survivors.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if Tehran will be expecting Boeing to participate in the investigation.

Ukrainian passenger plane develops technical difficulties and crashes in Iran.

A conspiracy theorists dream.

Once Trump absorbs certain media outlets about the story, he will likely jump in with conspiracy thinking too.  What a world.

Equally intriguing.  Do you think the POTUS will order the carpet bombing of  Kenya in retaliation for these 3 American deaths yesterday?
