Trump Says We Should Protect The Inventor Of The Wheel

The wheel originated in Mesopotamia around 5,500 years ago.

Ancient Mesopotamians might have been interested to know that someday a world leader would offer them protection for their genius invention.

During a CNBC interview in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump said that we must “protect our genius,” citing Elon Musk, Thomas Edison, and the inventor of the wheel as examples.

Trump, who is in Davos for the World Economic Forum this week, was praising Tesla CEO Musk for both his car and SpaceX businesses following some problems in recent years.

“I was worried about him, because he’s one of our great geniuses, and we have to protect our genius,” Trump said of Musk. “You know, we have to protect Thomas Edison, and we have to protect all of these people that came up with, originally, the lightbulb, and the wheel and all of these things.”

The wheel made its first appearance in Mesopotamia — an ancient region that corresponds mostly to present-day Iraq — around 3,500 B.C.

The president also applauded Musk’s expertise in aerospace.

“He’s also doing the rockets, he likes rockets, and he does good at rockets, too, by the way,” he said. “I never saw where the engines come down with no wings, no anything, and they’re landing.”

Only a moron would interpret his comment as seriously seeking to protect the actual original inventor of the actual original wheel.

So did he lie, or is he too stupid to phrase it in an intelligent way?

Remember:

Are you familiar with concepts of rhetoric and poetic language? Simile? Metaphor? Hyperbole? Exaggerating to make a point?

It's a poetic way of saying we should protect all inventors of even basic inventions. It's really not any more complicated.

Me, yes.  Trump, not a chance.

It's a poetic way of saying we should protect all inventors of even basic inventions.

So he is too stupid to phrase it intelligently.  That's what I thought, thanks for confirming.

So you don't consider rhetoric and metaphor to be intelligent phrasing? Does that mean when Obama said he was taking the keys from Republicans and they had to ride in the back that he was referring to an actual vehicle?

By Trump?  He wouldn't know rhetoric or metaphor if they hit him in the face.

Does that mean when Obama said he was taking the keys from Republicans and they had to ride in the back that he was referring to an  actual  vehicle?

There is no doubt that Trump is a moron, but I am going to slightly defend him on this one. I heard the audio, and I dont think he believes the inventor of the wheel is alive or was an American, nor do I think he believes that Thomas Edison is alive.

Trump's mouth moves faster than his brain and sometimes his thoughts come out as what they call a word salad.

Not sure why you would include the wheel in with modern inventions in the first place though.

Agreed. I think it was more that we need to protect the people who invent new things, not comparing older inventions with modern inventions. One would have to admit that when it was invented the wheel was quite the revolutionary thing.

Not everything has a meaning people need to concern themselves with. I can't imagine more than a couple people on planet Earth with no sense of perspective are genuinely wondering what it all means.

Even though Elon Musk was forced to step down for three years as the chairman of Tesla due to a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, I think he is doing some important things in the advancement of science.

This is why Trump needs to be removed. His family allowing him in a deteriorating mental state to remain amounts to elder abuse. If you had a loved one who ranted and rambled like this exact conversation you would ask the nurse about adjusting medications. This is literally, quite literally, insane or demented. He has dementia. His family and the GOP are ignoring it to hold power.

Its funny watching people complain that  Trump needs to dumb it down and speak very LITERALLY so they can follow along.

I would be disappointed in a 10 year old if they thought Trump was speaking literally. For an adult?  that's a really tough look.
