Impeachment Witness Alexander Vindman Fired From the White House
Lt. Col. Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth. His honor, his commitment to right, frightened the powerful.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

The White House on Friday dismissed Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman, whose testimony in the House impeachment hearings infuriated President Trump and his allies, escorting him out of the complex just days after the Senate trial ended in acquittal, his lawyer said.

“There is no question in the mind of any American why this man’s job is over, why this country now has one less soldier serving it at the White House,” David Pressman, the lawyer, said in a statement. “Lt. Col. Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth. His honor, his commitment to right, frightened the powerful.”

A person familiar with the situation said that Colonel Vindman’s twin brother, Yevgeny Vindman, also an Army lieutenant colonel who worked at the White House, was fired, as well.

The dismissal was foreshadowed earlier in the day when Mr. Trump essentially confirmed to reporters before leaving on a trip to North Carolina that Colonel Alexander Vindman would be pushed out. “Well, I’m not happy with him,” the president said of Colonel Vindman. “You think I’m supposed to be happy with him? I’m not.”

The president then reposted a Twitter message from a supporter advocating the colonel’s dismissal: “Vindman’s behavior is a scandal. He should be removed from the @RealDonaldTrump White House ASAP to protect our foreign policy from his machinations.”

Colonel Vindman retains his rank in the Army, and it was not immediately clear what his next assignment will be.
The action comes just two days after Mr. Trump was acquitted in a Senate impeachment trial that turned in part on the testimony of Colonel Vindman and other administration officials who described a campaign to pressure Ukraine into announcing corruption investigations into former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and other Democrats.

Mr. Trump has made clear his personal antipathy for Colonel Vindman, who oversaw American policy toward Ukraine on the National Security Council staff and whose twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, works as a lawyer for the N.S.C. “Lieutenant Colonel Vindman and his twin brother, right?” the president said at one point during a rambling hourlong venting session at the White House on Thursday, his voice dripping with disdain. “We had some people that — really amazing.”

The decision to move Colonel Vindman out of the White House complex, reported previously by Bloomberg News and The Washington Post, came as Mr. Trump and his allies have made clear that they will seek to exact payback against those he blames for triggering his impeachment and trial. During his White House event, Mr. Trump denounced the “evil” and “corrupt” people who investigated him, and his spokeswoman went on television to declare that anyone who hurt the president “should pay for” it.

Since you didn't it begs the question: Why post that bullshit here on NT?

I think the reader here on NT shouldn't have to wade the muck of innuendo and false allegations from those whose only goal is to gaslight.

You post an allegation and then post bullshit that doesn't support it. In fact, it doesn't even support the headline in the link.

You stated your allegations as fact Vic. You doubled down and stated that he did even more than leak. Yet as has become your MO, you post not one iota of PROOF for anything that you allege and then try to pretend that your just trying to give the reader a 'chance to reach their own conclusions'.

It's fairly simple for people to see. Vindman was asked by Devin Nunes if he told anyone else about the call:

“Lietenant Colonel Vindman, did you discuss the July 25 phone call with anyone outside the White House on July 25 or the 26 and if so, with whom?”

“Yes. I did,” Vindman answered in the affirmative.

When pressed on who Vindman spoke with about the call, Vindman said he spoke with two individuals not in the White House, including Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent and another individual in the intelligence community that Vindman refused to name before being cut off by Democratic Chairman Adam Schiff.

When pressed on who Vindman spoke with about the call, Vindman said he spoke with two individuals not in the White House, including Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent and another individual in the intelligence community that Vindman refused to name before being cut off by Democratic Chairman Adam Schiff.

Funny how you QUOTE tidbits of transcripts or videos of the hearing that you think bolster your false statements and then fill in your agenda with statements from elsewhere.

Vindman did NOT refuse to name the individual from the intelligence community, he was PRECLUDED from naming anyone in the intelligence community. THAT fact is made clear in the video at your link. From the C-Span transcript:

Vindman: PER THE ADVICE OF THE MY COUNCIL, I HAVE BEEN ADVISED NOT TO ANSWER SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT MEMBERS OF THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY.

That had been the STANDING rule throughout the depositions AND the open hearings.

Moments later Vindman's lawyer said:

EXCUSE ME. ON BEHALF OF MY CLIENT, WE ARE FOLLOWING THE RULE OF THE COMMITTEE, THE RULE OF THE CHAIR WITH REGARDS  TO THIS ISSUE AND THIS DOESN'T CALL FOR AN ANSWER THAT IS INVOKING THE FIFTH OR ANY THEORETICAL ISSUE LIKE THAT. WE ARE FOLLOWING THE RULING OF THE CHAIR.

Nunes asked a question that he KNEW Vindman was PRECLUDED from answering based on the Committee's rule. Vindman's didn't answer that question because of that rule, NOT, despite your inference, for any nefarious reason.

So yes Vic, it is fairly simple for people to see that your comments are intentionally misleading and do NOT prove any of the allegations you have made against Lt. Col. Vindman.

But hey, you be you and keep trying to gaslight the others, it doesn't work with me.

SMAAB - I agree there are times when stupid things are done on all sides of the fence and, many of them, for no apparent reason whatsoever.  Unfortunately, in the government - or any government - it happens a lot and we can second-guess all day long to our heart's content - but it ain't gonna change.  That's the issue with power - you got it, you win; you don't got it, you lose.

I worked with/for the Fed government for well over 35 years and saw/experienced it way too many times to even think about justifying the actions of the action takers when I, personally, did not agree with their decisions.  I was even "reassigned" on one occasion - so - yeah - you got the power, you win; you don't got the power, you lose.  Fortunately, my career didn't end - but I have seen it happen too many times in governmental actions.

Nothing to do with 'trusted'.  The twin didn't do squat. Vindman testified honestly.  Trump expects a loyalty akin to autocrats and dictators.  Like Kim, Putin, Erdogan, and MBS.  He is retaliating against people who told the truth under oath (or has the same surname).  How exactly does a liar and his supporters know anything about trust, which springs from truth?

Just for clarity, my comment to What'sHisNuts about not serving in the military was made because Lt. Col. Cadet Burn Spurs would crap his pants if he had to be under fire like so many of our men and women in uniform do every day of their lives while serving our country in foreign lands where our fearless POTUS so happily sends them.

I wonder how pleased he would be if he came home from battle in a foreign land with parts of his body missing, crippled for life, and/or mentally and emotionally cursed with PTSD for the rest of his life.

The only thing he cares about when it comes to the average citizens of our country is making sure there is enough men and women to send over seas somewhere at his whim. And those do who make it home alive can kick rocks if they are in need of medical help.

Those who have PTSD just have over active imaginations or headaches. Right?  /s

We do know for a fact that Reagan served his second term while suffering from mental illness, but, assured to be fit for the job of POTUS. The same appears to be the case with Trump's doctor.

No one wants to officially declare that Trump is mentally ill, even though his overall actions indicate he is, for fear of retaliation by Trump. Just like the two y/o actions we have seen with his firing of the Vindmans as well as the many others that have fallen from 'his majesty's' grace.

However, I truly wonder what God himself thinks about being so closely compared to Trump.

And how many true Christians think about a person as morally corrupt, an immense liar, and a multi-criminal as Trump being associated with himself. I don't think that God would think highly of those who feel that way.

And that true Christians would consider Trump to be an abomination. Those who support Trump are simply CINOs, who obviously don't really believe in their God if they think he is no better than Trump.

Jeremy - this is the part of the discussion that so, so many ignore.

The Times reported that Vindman tried to change the reconstructed transcript made by the White House staff to reflect the omissions. But while some of his edits appeared to have been successful, he said, those two corrections were not made.

Vindman did not testify to a motive behind the editing process, and it is not clear why some of his changes were not made, while others he recommended were, the newspaper reported.

Now, if this person had been in my chain of command, I would have placed him on immediate administrative leave and had the JAG office draw up articles of violation of the USMJ for Court Martial.

He "tried to change the reconstructed transcript".  He is/was not authorized to make any such "corrections".  "it (was)is not clear why some of his changes were not made." - quite simply - he wasn't authorized to make changes and violated a lot of security issues/concerns.

Really? DO tell me exactly WHAT articles of the USMJ are you alleging that Vindman violated.

I would hope that you would investigate the events and understand what his responsibilities and authorities are before taking any adverse action against a direct report.

Sadly, it's obvious that you didn't

He "tried to change the reconstructed transcript".  He is/was not authorized to make any such "corrections".

Lt Col. Vindman is/was the  Director for European Affairs for the United States National Security Council and Ukraine is under HIS directorate. It sure as hell is/was his job to make corrections to the call record. IF you would have READ or listened to Vindman's testimony, you would know that.

"it (was)is not clear why some of his changes were not made." - quite simply - he wasn't authorized to make changes and violated a lot of security issues/concerns.

Really 1st, you have no fucking clue what you are talking about right now but hey, it's not the first time.

Vindman is/was one of the few ELITE staff members in the NSC that is responsible for reviewing those call records for accuracy and making changes to that end.

BTW, it's clear NOW why the changes weren't made. Trump and his cult didn't want the word 'Burisma' in the record. Both Vindman and Williams testified that Burisma was cited during the call.

Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council, told House impeachment investigators on Tuesday that the White House transcript of a July call between President Trump and Ukraine’s president omitted crucial words and phrases, and that his attempts to restore them failed,” The Times reported, citing three people “familiar” with the testimony.

Vindman also told investigators he tried to change the White House’s rough transcript of the call by filling in at least one of the omitted words,

Vindman also testified that the transcript failed to capture several potentially important words or phrases, including a reference by Zelensky to a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, that had employed Biden’s son and that Trump wanted investigated. Vindman said he sought to correct the transcript but that his suggestions were not incorporated.

Apparently, in an effort to do his sworn duty to the utmost of his ability, LC Vindman thought that creating a transcript with the actual words used, was a good idea.  But since this transcript was the result of a political team's interpretation of the phone call, facts appear to have been adverse to the process.

Our NT brethren here are resting their case for altering an official document on Vindman's efforts to make the document more truthful and therefor less false.

The firing of the Vindman brothers and the recall of Sondland is nothing compared to the investigations he and Barr are going to launch against Americans that he deems his enemies.  What this president and his administration are going to do behind the scenes we won't be privy to until it has happened or years later.  In other words, until after the damage is done.  This is the most anti american president and following that I've witnessed in my lifetime or my parent's lifetime and probably my grandparent's lifetime.  These are dangerous times because there are so many voters who don't seem to understand that this isn't a football game where the objective is to win the game and then everything resets until the next game.  What this president and his administration are doing will have many negative affects against the nation for generations.

I didn't say 2%. I said 0.002%. that's 2/1000s of 1 percent. So if we're talking the US population, I think that's about 6500 people who might remotely give a shit that this guy won't be working in the White House anymore. Honestly, I think that figure might be a little high. It's probably more like 0.00002%.

Hillary Clinton's campaign is playing off the news that her daughter Chelsea is having another baby with a list of “7 ways Hillary Clinton is just like your abuela,” using the Spanish term for "grandmother."
The list , posted on her campaign website, includes quotes, photos, tweets and video clips from Clinton giving off grandmotherly vibes — like reading to children and tweeting about vaccines — while also demanding "el respeto" (respect in Spanish).

That is one definition. Here is another one, more widely used ans MUCH more apropos to what was under discussion:

testify

give evidence as a witness in a law court.

here is another one:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/testify

Testify definition is - to make a solemn declaration under oath for the purpose of establishing a fact (as in a court)
