Trump Launches New Attack On Supreme Court, Demands Liberal Justices Recuse

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

President   Donald Trump   launched a new attack on the judicial system on Monday, targeting the nation’s high court by demanding that two liberal   Supreme Court   justices recuse themselves from any case involving him or his administration.

Trump claimed associate justices   Sonia Sotomayor   and   Ruth Bader Ginsburg  couldn’t be fair to him:

Trump has a history of attacking  prosecutors  and judges. Earlier this month,   he slammed U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson , who presided over the case against longtime Trump ally Roger Stone. Jackson also handled a case that concluded last year against former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Trump earlier tried to insult  U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel,   who was born in Indiana, by describing him as a “Mexican.” He also called  U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar a “disgrace”  and an “Obama judge” for ruling against his administration in an immigration case.

Trump’s latest attack seems to be in response to a   dissent Sotomayor   wrote last week in which she accused the Supreme Court’s conservative wing of being biased toward the administration, saying they’ve been “all too quick to grant the Government’s ‘reflexiv[e]’ requests.” She warned that such actions could “erode the fair and balanced decisionmaking process that this Court must strive to protect.”

Of course, it was projection of her part. As for Ginsberg, she called the President a "faker" which by itself would warrant a recusal on alll matters dealing with the administration. We know neither of them would ever recuse themselves. That would require integrity!

Like all the Trump toadies who refused to recuse themselves - or the one who did, and was thoroughly slammed by Trump and his worshippers for doing so?

Pffft. Total hypocrisy.

BULLSHIT!  I was right here saying all along that Sessions was right to recuse himself.

Conservatives have integrity. Liberals don't! End of story!

Ginsberg was appointed by Bill Clinton. The other was appointed by Obama.

Ginsberg was appointed by Bill Clinton. The other was appointed by Obama.

So should the two appointed by Trump recuse themselves? You want anyone who has ever said a negative thing about Trump recused, but have no problem stacking the court with those licking his nasty deflated nut sack. That's the textbook definition of hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy: noun - the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense

Yes, and it works both ways. You're quite happy to accept anyone who is biased in Trump's favor. That is the definition of hypocrisy. You don't actually appear to have a problem with bias as long as it works in Trump's favor.

Correct. You see Kat whether a Justice votes one way or another based on an interpretation of the law or not is open to debate. When a Justice calls a President a "faker" there is no debate. That IS a bias. Had a justice called Obama a POS, I would have said there is a bias and that Judge should recuse themselves. You'll notice that never happened.

The only one who has ever injected politics into America's judicial system is Donald J. Trump.  And he does this only for the reason of self protection and to stoke those who are nihilistic in nature and harbor great disdain for truth, justice and the rule of law.

It is the job of the SCOTUS to interpret the established laws of the United States and render decisions on said laws. It is not their job to engage in petty and biased partisan bickering regarding a president or others who do not share their political views or ideology. By the same token, I believe the president does not have the right to tell justices of the SCOTUS to recuse themselves, no matter how justified it may or may not be.

Oh come Tessylo, you know damn well that only liberals are expected to have integrity, ethics, and morals. No Trump toadie cares that Barr's head is so far up Trump's ass he hasn't seen daylight in ages; that OUR AG is actually Trump's personal pet. His bias when he talked about the Mueller report made him say some incredibly dishonest things which Trump wanted to hear.

And the donald toadies jump on the bandwagon without question.

She is actually correct, no other administration gets everything fast tracked like this one is doing.

So true. But then, Trump spits on the rule of law every day. The only "rule of law" is things that stroke his ego, in his world. And his swamp goes right along with it.

We'll see how his incompetence, disdain for experts and facts, and ego impact us with the coronavirus. His toadies seem to think this is a game, and that having America turn into a reality TV show isn't a bad thing ... I wonder how they'll feel if they start dying, or if the stock market continues its decline.

She's openly partisan and, as you point out, believes race matters for a Judge.

Then the left gets mad when Trump says the race of a judge matters and claims judges are partisan.

Since she can't win on substance, she wants to destroy the Court's credibility with partisan rants.

It's too bad Obama couldn't find another far left justice like Kagan, who at least has respect for the Court.

She was arguing decisions prove bias. We can argue that all day. Calling the President a "faker" is beyond argument. It is bias and Ginsberg should recuse herself from anything to do with the administration, but she won't.

Are judges and jurors not supposed to take into account an accused previous record of false statements when forming an opinion of their honesty? Are they not allowed to form an opinion based on the many false statements a President makes to conclude they are "a faker"? Do the courts really have to sit there and act as if the President hasn't tweeted and said numerous inappropriate things about jurors and judges directly linked to cased he's involved in? Trump has regularly accused judges of being implicitly biased simply because they were appointed by a former President he despises like Clinton or Obama as if merely being appointed by such Presidents make them incapable of being fair.

For sane judges to not form an opinion of Trump and his mountain of lies over the past 3 years one would have to lock themselves in a bunker. Apparently Trump doesn't ever want to be judged by anyone who isn't already sucking him off and acquiescing to his every whim. Anything short of loyal sycophant is considered a never Trumper by dumb shit Donald.

Ironic how Trump praises anyone who does something like this in his favor - and has a tantrum when they don't. Her point about the rule of law was spot on, and unbiased. Just because the truth isn't what Trump wants to hear doesn't make it wrong, or make her unqualified. Too bad more of the judges aren't unbiased.

Poor orange snowflake. It's all so unfair!
