Two more people who knew Tara Reade in the '90s reportedly came forward on Monday to back the former Senate staffer's claims of sexual misconduct against Joe Biden.

Lynda LaCasse, a former next-door neighbor of Reade's and a self-described supporter of Biden spoke on the record with Rich McHugh of Business Insider about past conversations they had with Reade about the allegations.

"This happened, and I know it did because I remember talking about it," LaCasse told Business Insider, recalling a conversation with Reade that occurred in either 1995 or 1996.

Another past acquaintance, Lorraine Sanchez, a former colleague, also recalled past conversations with Reade, though she said did not recall Reade referring to Biden by name.

"[Reade said] she had been sexually harassed by her former boss while she was in DC," Sanchez told the publication, "and as a result of her voicing her concerns to her supervisors, she was let go, fired."

Biden himself has not addressed the claims from Reade -- but his campaign has vehemently denied the allegations.

Reade on Monday confirmed to Fox News the accuracy of how her conversations with LaCasse and Sanchez were described and expressed her deep gratitude towards them for coming forward.

"I am touched that they would step forward knowing the targeted harassment I have received since I made my history with Joe Biden public. I appreciate their candor and bravery," Reade said in a statement.

LaCasse and Sanchez could be cited as more evidence supporting Reade's allegation.

They join Reade's friend, who says they were told about the alleged assault at the time it happened but has chosen to remain anonymous, and her brother Collin Moulton, who recalled Reade describing an incident with Biden involving a "gym bag" as others who have backed her claims. The friend and Moulton both gave interviews to the Intercept.

LaCasse told Business Insider: "I remember her saying, here was this person that she was working for and she idolized him. And he kind of put her up against a wall. And he put his hand up her skirt and he put his fingers inside her. She felt like she was assaulted, and she really didn't feel there was anything she could do."

LaCasse said that Reade was "upset" when she told her about the allegation and "the more she talked about it, the more she started crying." She said she remembered urging Reade to file a police report but did not recall specific details from the alleged incident, like the location or remarks Biden had allegedly made to Reade.

"I don't remember all the details," LaCasse told Business Insider. "I remember the skirt. I remember the fingers. I remember she was devastated."

LaCasse, a retired staffer of San Luis Obispo General Hospital, said she lived in the same apartment complex as Reade in Morro Bay, Calif. She recalled how the two of them had talked about "violent stories" they've experienced, which was when Reade told her "about the senator that she had worked for and he put his hand up her skirt."

"I personally am a Democrat, a very strong Democrat," LaCasse said. "And I'm for Biden, regardless. But still I have to come out and say this."

Reade's former neighbor insisted that she wasn't asked to come forward and that she "volunteered," saying "If this was me, I would want somebody to stand up for me. It takes a lot of guts to do what she's doing."

"I have to support her just because that's what happened," LaCasse said. "We need to stand up and tell the truth."

Sanchez, who was working as a staffer for California State Senator Jack O'Connell, said she mentored and worked with Reade between 1994 and 1996.

Sanchez said she did not recall Reade referring to Biden by name but remembered "reassuring her that nothing like that would ever happen to her here in our office, that she was in a safe place, free from any sexual harassment."

"It takes great courage and strength to come forward," Sanchez said in praising Reade. "It's much easier to keep silent. However, I also understand the duty we have as women to share our story regardless of who the perpetrator may be."

Video

On Friday, a 1993 clip from "Larry King Live" surfaced showing an anonymous woman from San Luis Obispo, Calif. phoning into the iconic CNN talk show where she described "problems" her daughter was having with a "prominent senator."

"San Luis Obispo, California, hello," King begins.

"Yes, hello. I'm wondering what a staffer would do besides go to the press in Washington? My daughter has just left there, after working for a prominent senator, and could not get through with her problems at all, and the only thing she could have done was go to the press, and she chose not to do it out of respect for him," the caller says.

"In other words, she had a story to tell but, out of respect for the person she worked for, she didn't tell it?" King inquires.

"That's true," the woman responds before King cuts away to a panel to discuss her claim.

That woman was Jeanette Altimus, Reade's mother, Reade told news outlets, including Fox News.

Late Friday, the Media Research Center found the clip in its archives after The Intercept first reported on the Aug. 11, 1993 transcript earlier in the day.

Reade took to Twitter to confirm that it was her mother who called in to "Larry King Live."

"This is my mom. I miss her so much and her brave support of me," Reade tweeted about her mother, who died in 2016.

Reade's story first resurfaced in an article in The Intercept on March 24. Podcast host Katie Halper then interviewed Reade, who said that in 1993, a more senior member of Biden's staff asked her to bring the then-senator his gym bag near the U.S. Capitol building, which led to the encounter in question.

"He greeted me, he remembered my name, and then we were alone. It was the strangest thing," Reade told Halper. "There was no like, exchange really. He just had me up against the wall."

Reade said that she was wearing "a business skirt," but "wasn't wearing stockings — it was a hot day."

She continued: "His hands were on me and underneath my clothes, and he went down my skirt and then up inside it and he penetrated me with his fingers and he was kissing me at the same time and he was saying some things to me."

Reade claimed Biden first asked if she wanted "to go somewhere else."

"I pulled away, he got finished doing what he was doing," Reade said. "He said: 'Come on, man. I heard you liked me.'"

Reade said she tried to share her story last year, but nobody listened to her. Earlier this month, she filed a criminal complaint against Biden with police in Washington, D.C.

Fox News reached out to the Biden campaign on Friday for comment. The campaign referred Fox News to a statement earlier this month from Biden Deputy Campaign Manager Kate Bedingfield that said: "What is clear about this claim: it is untrue. This absolutely did not happen.

"Vice President Biden has dedicated his public life to changing the culture and the laws around violence against women," Bedingfield said. "He authored and fought for the passage and reauthorization of the landmark Violence Against Women Act. He firmly believes that women have a right to be heard - and heard respectfully. Such claims should also be diligently reviewed by an independent press."

Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Reade recalled being "furious" at her mother for phoning in to CNN after having watched the clip on a recorded tape following the broadcast.

She told Fox News she "dreamt" about her mother on Thursday night. The following morning, The Intercept's Ryan Grim told her that he found the transcript.

Reade said she "cried" when she watched the clip on Friday evening, telling Fox News it had been years since she had heard her mother's voice. She had urged Reade to file a police report at the time of the alleged assault, Reade said.

"Always listen to your mom, always listen to your mom," an emotional Reade told Fox News.

Still, the mother's interview doesn't specifically corroborate Reade's latest allegations of assault, and could be referring more to the bullying allegations she raised last year. In a 2020 interview, Reade laid more blame with Biden's staffers for "bullying her" than with Biden himself, The Washington Post reported.

Reade has come forward before: Last year, when multiple women emerged claiming inappropriate touching by Biden.

Reade, at the time, claimed Biden put his hands on her shoulders and rubbed his fingers up and down her neck, but was unable to gain traction on her story aside from an article in a local newspaper.

But in recent weeks, Reade told a far more graphic account, with different and more serious details, raising the allegation to the level of sexual assault.

"Now we'll see if a different set of rules still applies to Joe Biden," Erin Perrine, the principal deputy communications for President Trump's re-election campaign, said in a statement to Fox News. "Maybe now at least one reporter will ask him about it."

Fox News has also requested comment from U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who ran against Biden in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary and recently endorsed Biden's campaign after withdrawing from the race.

Well I am sure the RNC felt the same way when Trump thinned the herd rather handily in 2016.

Shit happens, Joe is the last candidate standing from the 20 plus who started out.

"This happened, and I know it did because I remember talking about it," LaCasse told Business Insider

So it happened because she remembers talking about it?

"I don't remember all the details," LaCasse told Business Insider.

Clearly damning evidence these sad hypocrites have dug up in a last ditch attempt to get dirt on the Presidential candidate they know is about to wipe the floor with their chosen commander in-competent.

Remember when they all vehemently condemned the same kind of evidence that came out against their Supreme Court pick?

"In Detailed Letters, Friends Recall Years-Ago Conversations With Blasey Ford About Alleged Attack"

To be sitting there attacking Biden over this so far unfounded single accusation while defending a man who we know for a fact cheated on all three of his wives, has been accused of sexual assault by over two dozen credible women and was even caught on tape admitting he doesn't "even wait" for consent and just starts kissing women he finds attractive and grabs them by the pussy claiming "you can do anything" to women if you're "a star", is truly the height of hypocrisy.

Here are the names of Trumps accusers, none of whom have recanted or changed their stories to this day.

Jessica Leeds

Kristin Anderson

Jill Harth

Lisa Boyne

Temple Taggart McDowell

Cathy Heller

Karena Virginia

Mindy McGillivray

Natasha Stoynoff

Jennifer Murphy

Juliet Huddy

Rachel Crooks

Samantha Holvey

Ninni Laaksonnen

Jessica Drake

Summer Zervos

Cassandra Searles

Alva Johnson

Victoria Hughes (and 4 other Miss Teen USA girls, the youngest being 15 at the time)

Let's also not forget the woman who, in 2008, long before Trump became a candidate for President, accused Trump along with Jeff Epstein of raping her when she was 13. While the case was dismissed in NY for not having jurisdiction, and then later dismissed in California for lack of physical evidence since it had been 14 years, it's interesting to note Trump never counter-sued in that case as he almost always had done when someone accused him of wrongdoing. In 2019 the attorney representing "Jane Doe" reported that AMI (Trumps crony Enquirer buddies who were buying bad stories about him to kill them) tried to get her to drop Jane Doe as a client.

"I represented Ms. Doe for free and there was never any discussion of money or settlement as I strongly believed her allegations should be made public given that Donald Trump was running for president at that time."

"After we received numerous death threats and my law firm's website and emails were hacked, she did not want to go forward," Bloom added.

It's truly insane how so many people come to this obvious scumbags defense, no matter his open associations with Jeffrey Epstein, the dozens of sexual assault accusations, even his own words convict him, yet those with their heads firmly stuffed up his voluminous backside see nothing but a Saint.

Well, some can recognize the difference between someone talking about an alleged assault a month or two after it allegedly occurred and someone talking about it decades afterwards.

those letters in your source all describe how Ford allegedly told them about an assault on her in high school--decades later.

I see the difference, and pity those who can not.

Easy to overlook.

Some of the others were paid off

Not sure on that one but there are still cases by Gloria Allred that are still in the discovery phase.

Here let me explain to you what an independent is.

We don't vote party. But unfortunately, there are only two parties. So depending on who our choices are, that is how we make a decision. I know that is a radical concept for some, who are devoted to just one party, but that is not how it rolls.

So last time I didn't vote for either numbnuts. I know, Hillarious, right? Cause that doesn't get to be old almost 4 years after the fact. But ask me if I care?

So what makes you think that things improved with me and our NY numbnut? Let's see... ummm. no. in fact, they have gotten worse with all the spiteful garbage he has said and done to us.

So, there you have it. Now I could have decided to vote 3rd party like I did last time, but I want him out. And had I been a party member I would have voted for Biden against Hillary but I couldn't in NY, since I am an indie.

So I am doing it now.

OK, you'll notice that on 11/7/16, 25 "accusers" disappeared due to "false claims" (so the media sez), so I fully expect this 1 "accuser" to disappear after the upcoming presidential election.

JMHO ya know.

Of course I do Perrie, that is one of the reasons I left the Republican party when he was nominated. I don’t much care for any man who assaults or belittles women, even if it were just one woman.  My feeling is that where there is one there are likely many more who never speak up.  The counts for these two guys are probably much higher than SP’s 25 to 9.

Both of them creep me out and I’m not a woman.  But I agree, being creepy and actually being abusive are two different things, neither of which are very presidential.

The former VP was elected twice as VP and 7 times as a Senator in spite of his huggy sniffy reputation plus Reades' allegation.

Certainly we were all made fully aware of Trumps accusers and many allegations in the year leading up to the 2016 election.  A constant din throughout all of main stream and social media.  An eye-opener for me for certain.  Like I said, one of the primary reasons I left the Republican party when he won the nomination.

Vox has a pretty fair assessment of the situation surrounding Biden HERE .  Note that even they indicate that Ms. Reade's story got much less scrutiny by the main stream media.  And I find it interesting that The Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which is administered by the National Women’s Law Center, would not offer legal assistance in Reade's case against Biden citing the potential loss of their 501(c)(3) non-profit status were they to pursue a case against a candidate running for federal office.  More on that HERE

Ruling out federal candidates marks as off-limits any member of Congress running for reelection, as well as President Donald Trump. Ellen Aprill, a professor of tax law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, said that Time’s Up’s analysis is too conservative, and the group wouldn’t be putting its tax-exempt status at risk by taking a case involving a candidate for federal office as long as it followed its standard criteria for taking on cases. “As a legal matter, if the group is clear regarding the criteria used as to whom it is taking to court, show that these are long-established neutral criteria, and they are being applied to individuals completely independent of their running for office, it would not be a violation of tax law. Groups are allowed to continue to do what they have always done,” she said.
The public relations firm that works on behalf of the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund is SKDKnickerbocker, whose managing director, Anita Dunn, is the top adviser to Biden’s presidential campaign. A spokesperson for Biden declined to comment. The SKDK spokesperson assigned to Time’s Up referred questions back to the NWLC.

Seems to me that organizations like Time's Up's greatest value would be in assisting those who have been abused, harassed or assaulted by elected officials or candidates like Trump or Biden, so that people can make more informed decisions about such people before they are elected to office.

Reade has said that the complaint, if it’s found, would not include the sexual assault allegation that she came forward with in March. She told the Associated Press in an interview Friday: “the main word I used — and I know I didn’t use sexual harassment — I used ‘uncomfortable.’ And I remember ‘retaliation.’” Biden has insisted that no record exists, but nonetheless on Friday sent a letter to the Secretary of the Senate asking that they “take or direct whatever steps are necessary” to determine where any such personnel record would exist, and release to the public any documents it finds related to any allegation Reade might have made.

I dont know if Biden grabbed her ***** or not. We as voters really have no way of knowing, although there have been some holes poked in her story.

But it doesnt matter. We elected a president in 2016 that had multiple such accusations hanging over his head at the time.

The country is not going to go back now and throw out a candidate with such accusations directed at him. Its over. Try and beat Biden another way.

Quit your BS John -

In the end, only one Republican senator voted differently from the party line : Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who had previously voted against ending the debate. Yet her vote today didn’t get recorded as a “no.” She instead voted “present,” pairing her vote with senator Steve Daines of Montana, who was attending his daughter’s wedding. Though an old and rare practice, senators are allowed to pair their votes when they go in opposite directions (in this case, Murkowski’s “Nay” and Daines’s “Yea”) if one is not able to attend the vote, as the two votes strike each other out.

Murkowski said she agreed to vote present as a courtesy to her colleague who was otherwise ready to leave his daughter’s wedding to cast his vote.

I, myself find it extremely odd and timely, that the woman didn't want to tell anyone, herself making it clear she didn't want to make accusations against a 'senator'.

Now all the sudden she was running around telling her neighbor, co-workers etc.

The answer you didn't want doesn't make it a non-answer.

Yeah, it’s kinda like deja vu all over again, and again and again .....     I’ve said This more than once and it applies here as well.

Decades old accusations that magically to come light suddenly when one party or another has a partisan axe to grind hold less water for me.    In that regard I view this accusation the same as ones against Kavanaugh, Trump, Judge Thomas, etc, etc.   Not saying they are all BS but they certainly are more questionable considering the circumstances they are made under.

The only reason I bring the Biden one up is the clear hypocrisy on display attempting to make bad behavior somehow worse when it’s perceived Trump doing it.

unlike others here I’m not defending anyone but like I said actions do speak louder than words in that actions really happened and words are spoken.    Not necessarily proof of anything but the spoken words.

So completely correct.  If someone was demanding the right of due process for Kavanaugh then they must demand the same rights now for Biden.

At the same time, if someone was screaming for Kavanaugh to be taken out and hung from the nearest tree (and there were a few like that) then they must stand up and demand the same treatment now for Biden.

These political party games are not going away and I'm afraid they are just going to get worse.  The sad part I see is that so many people allow themselves to be so manipulated by party politics that they lose sight that to the power elite this is just a game and we are merely tokens on the playing board.

It does get repeated again and again. Someone runs for office or gets nominated for a post and all the sudden, guess what happened thirty years ago.

I actually thought the whole Kavanaugh thing was more or less an embarrassment.

The truth is I don't know what happened in any of the high profile cases and probably never will.

I would never want to dismiss claims yet there has at times, although be it very few, some that had been fabricated.

My main contention is that politicians have been hound dogs, if not predators for years. Yet politicizing it and making it one side versus the other does an injustice to not only victims but to all of us.

I don't want to come off as callous or indifferent yet I believe cases like this make the public more so.

Sexual assault, misconduct, etc. is not a joke. That said, I'm not quick to get on board with a 20-30 year old claim. I was once (used loosely) accused by a girl, who told some mutual friends that I had been a bad actor. Thankfully, one of the friends confronted me, and after talking about it, went back to the accuser, who then told a story consistent with my recollection of the evening. The short version is that she drove to my house, after midnight and uninvited. My roommate let her in, and she disrobed and jumped into my bed, where I was sleeping. Turns out, she used me to get back at her boyfriend and developed a guilty conscience. When her friends asked her where she disappeared to, instead of coming clean, she weaved a yarn.

What if she tells the guilty conscience story to friends that I don't know? Friends that don't come to me? Scary to think about. I could be facing the same situation as Biden. 20-30 year old allegation that friends recall hearing of at the time. Yeah, I'm not on board with the me too garbage, or the roasting of someone in the press. Investigate? Sure. Put it to rest though.

For the record, I took no issue with being used...only the accusation.

Honestly, I have been saying since the #metoo movement, that this could be a possibility. I think that girls/women who really have been sexually abused should come forward and find their justice, but I also said that it could lead to men being unjustifiably accused for various reasons. It's a tough situation. Neither should happen, but it does since we are dealing with people and people are flawed.

Pure partisan nonsense Sean.

Bullshit.  And your link doesn't address any cases similar to this or Kavanaughs where an allegation from 30 years ago became a national story.

CNN ran more than 700 stories about Blasey Ford's allegations. They ran ONE on Reade's in the first  month it's been public.  Now, theey've added a couple in recent days of the "Republicans pounce" stereotypicial variety. Republican Senators are not pronouncing Biden guilty and calling Reade a "hero." They are not demanding Biden withdraw his nomination because an allegation is enough to make him unfit for the office.

There is no balance in the way allegations are handled by the parties  and the so called "objective" media between the parties. When a partisan democrat makes an allegation against Kavanaugh it's treated as true and the media screeches about how it's an affront to women to even consider nominating someone accused of an attempted rape (not a real rape like Biden is accused of).  If, and it's a big if, the MSM even covers an allegationa against a DEmocrat it's only too note Republicans have "pounced" on it as a partisan issue.

Spend 5 minutes reading the press release on Ford's behalf  the Washington Post authored when it broke the story and compare it to how the Post covered Reade. No honest person can claim they have been treated the same.

Just curious though, Is Fox right and the Daily Caller ( ) wrong?

I'm sure your confused but maybe this will help.

Earlier this month, Milano addressed the assault accusation made by Biden's former Senate staffer, Tara Reade, and defended the Democrats' presumptive presidential nominee, whom she had endorsed. The prominent #MeToo activist had made a splashy appearance at the tense Kavanaugh confirmation hearings in support of his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

Left-wing activist Alyssa Milano conceded on  Monday night that it was time to listen to Tara Reade, who has accused Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden of rape, after more evidence this week that appears to substantiate the credibility of her claims.

See most people understand the difference between Earlier this month and Monday one comment was made a few weeks ago and the other a couple days ago. Do you understand now?

I'd say the House could call her as a witness,  but the House will only meet if it's a emergency, and per Nancy Pelosi, there is no emergency occurring right now.

But my  point was that elected Democrats could exert their power as Democrats about to nominate a Presidential candidate.  If Democrats actually cared about rape allegations as anything other than a stunt to attack Republicans, they could pressure Biden to comply and make their support contingent on the records being produced. But we know they don't care if Biden raped this girl or not and they sure don't want to make any evidence public that would hurt Joe Biden.

I am always skeptical of memes, and so I did a simple google search, "Tara Reade accusation articles by CNN". I found way more than 2, which always leads me to other questions about the meme. And while I was looking, I found a Fox article that stated:

According to  one analysis , CNN waited 24 days to cover the allegations. By contrast, the outlet published nearly 700 articles about allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the 19 days from when they became public to his confirmation in 2018.

Which is a whole different thing than staying that CNN only did 2 article on Tara Reade. And it should also be noted that the source of that analysis was "The Daily Wire", which leans very to the right, so it would have a similar agenda as who they are accusing (CNN) which as it turns out, is not true either.

I am always skeptical of memes.

Same here Perrie.  I saw this one attached to a tweet, and while I don't expect it is 100% accurate (especially on the CNN article count aspect), it is an interesting summary that is for the most part fair in the comparison of the facts/evidence in the two quite similar cases and how they were handled by the media.  Even if it wasn't 700 to 2 CNN articles, certainly there is a vast difference in the coverage and types of coverage each case received.

...so I did a simple google search, "Tara Reade accusation articles by CNN". I found way more than 2,

Of the CNN articles you found in your Google search, how many were in defense of Biden (or casting doubt on his accuser), vs. how many were quick to pillory Kavanaugh (and/or suggest that his accuser be believed without question)?   And perhaps we could go ahead and include other mainstream media outlets in that same analysis.  Can the difference really, truthfully, be denied?

Clearly there are agendas at work surrounding stories like this and both sides will exaggerate their positions (via memes or otherwise), but when one boils it down to the facts/evidence in each case, I think it is very clear that they were not handled by the mainstream media with an objective, consistent lens. There are at least as many, even more, reasons to believe Ms. Reade as pointed out in this meme, yet the mainstream media coverage does not bear that out.

The third item down in the meme I think is particularly relevant. Ms. Reade's account is corroborated by several who recall her telling them about it shortly after it allegedly happened.  Ms. Blasey Ford had no such witnesses who recalled anything other than some bits and pieces she told them more recently, not at the time of the alleged incident.  Certainly that alone deserves more media attention and presents more of a reason to investigate further.  But all that stopped when Biden simply denied that it ever happened.  Did the same denial by Kavanaugh stop the media speculation and frenzy in that case?  I think we both know the answer to that question.  And that is the only point I wish to make and the meme, regardless of the source or precise numbers, helps to illustrate that point.

Other than the CNN article count, are the other checked items in the meme fairly accurate in your mind?  I believe those are pretty accurate based on the facts I have seen, but if you have evidence to the contrary I am always willing to learn.

Ms Reade supposedly told 7 people. 5 don't remember her ever being there, 2 say that they remember her telling them about it, but 1 won't talk and the other is her mother. It's all hearsay anyway. btw.. her story also changed over the years.

Ms. Ford was attacked at a party in college by 2 boys of which she says Kavanaugh was one of them. It is not unusual for college girls not to report these things and even when they do, they are often told not to do anything about it by the administration, even now. Why? because it is hearsay.

It's not that I believe or disbelieve either woman. What I find their timing is a bit questionable.

The press is a whole different issue. But I have grown to realize that people pick the poison they want to drink from and there is plenty out there on both sides of the political spectrum.

Other than the CNN article count, are the other checked items in the meme fairly accurate in your mind?  I believe those are pretty accurate based on the facts I have seen, but if you have evidence to the contrary I am always willing to learn.

Both remember the time and place of the event. I have found no evidence that either can produce an exact day. So that is the first and second check.

Number 3 has been discussed above.

The scrubbing of social accounts has only been found on conservative sites. On the liberal side, there is this:

So once again, we are stuck believing who?

As for the alleged perp being of age, rape is rape, even for minors. But the event was purported to happen when Kavanaugh was 17 and she was15. He would have been charged as an adult in all 50 states, so again that is misleading.

Hence why I don't trust memes of this sort.

You are correct. It should be 700 to zero. Since CNN didn't cover the story at all in the amount of time it ran 700 stories on Forde's accusations.  CNN ignored the story and didn't even mention her until after a month had passed.

Not entirely true, there are at least 3 witnesses, her brother, a neighbor/friend, and a collegue she worked with after leaving Biden's office who recall her talking about the harassment and assault very shortly after it happened.  Ms. Lacasse's story being particularly compelling as indicated here .

I remember her saying, here was this person that she was working for and she idolized him," LaCasse said. "And he kind of put her up against a wall. And he put his hand up her skirt and he put his fingers inside her. She felt like she was assaulted, and she really didn't feel there was anything she could do." "I don't remember all the details," LaCasse said. "I remember the skirt. I remember the fingers. I remember she was devastated."

But you are correct, all hearsay, yet certainly more compelling hearsay than in the Kavanugh matter.

It's not that I believe or disbelieve either woman. What I find their timing is a bit questionable

Can't argue with that my friend.

The press is a whole different issue

Precisely and that is the main point I am trying to make.  The approach to and attitude toward these cases were completely different despite the differences in the witness accounts and corroborating details.

Both remember the time and place of the event.

Well not exactly, and Ms. Fords recollection conflicted with other testimony:

First, Ford’s testimony that the assault occurred in the summer of 1982, when just 15, conflicted with both her therapist’s  notes and the text message  Ford sent to the Washington Post. According to reporter Emma Brown, Ford claimed she had been assaulted in the mid-1980s; and the therapist’s notes stated Ford had been the victim of an attempted rape in her late teens. But by that time, Kavanaugh was  attending Yale , so Ford’s recasting of the attack to the summer of 1982 is suspect .

Time Magazine and a few other sources actually reported that two other men had come forward claiming to have been the ones who assaulted Ford, not Kavanaugh.

Hence why I don't trust memes of this sort

Understood, don't blame you.  But sometimes such memes can be the basis for more focused discussion. The whole point of this meme is to illustrate that despite the level of corroboration and clearer details about Ms. Reade's story, the mainstream media focus was much different for her story than it was for Ford's.  The media focus in the Kavanaugh case was on believing her story even where it was less believable and the details more murky, and to paint Kavanaugh as devilishly guilty without due process so as to keep him from being confirmed.  The stories in Ms. Reade's case have been much different, more focused on questioning the veracity of her account, and less focused on holding Biden accountable like the stories written about Kavanaugh.  Most of the mainstream media stories have been more focused on how Biden and the Democrats are going to deal with this, and on the testimony of those who still work for Biden claiming they recall nothing despite at least 7 other women making claims of past harassment and inappropriate touching.   I am seeking only to hold the main stream media accountable for their unbalanced approach on such serious matters (for both the accuser and the accused).

Despite what others think, I could care less whether Trump or Biden wins the upcoming election, to me we are looking at a lose-lose situation there anyway.  Thanks for the discussion. I think we have both made our case and might need to agree to disagree on the details.

What's not true? How many stories on Reade did CNN run in the 19 days after March 24th? What network do you believe has devoted an equal amount of coverage of Forde and Reade?

You are moving the goalposts. The point is the vast disparity in coverage, which you've not addressed. As soon as the Forde story was published, it became the number one story in America for weeks.

That's not true at all. First, she was in high school when this supposedly  happened, at least in the version she told the Senate. She was older in other versions.  .

Describing a rape that happened to you is not "hearsay."  A victim of a crime is always allowed to tell what happened to them in Court and, by itself,  their story is  enough enough to find a defendant guilty.

Third, accusers in college have been allowed to have their supposed accuser thrown out of school without even having to be questioned about it. I don't think you are aware of what's going on at universities.

It.... is..... aaaaaliiiiiiiiivvvve!  (-:

Are you saying it is no longer relevant simply because Biden denied the allegations 2.5 weeks ago?  Careful now, you could be making my point for me here.  (-:

Tara Reade has aired her grievance.

What do you want now?

Let her submit herself to a hostile inquiry, like Ford did at the Senate hearings. Short of that , what is the point of publicizing this story every day, or every other day?  Everyone has heard her accusation, now people should either produce proof that it is true, or let it go.

Joe Biden is not going to drop out of the race over this, as the facts stand now.

Continuing with it in the news every day can only help Trump. Do you want to help Trump?

Tara Reade associated herself with anti Biden people in the media, to tell her story.  That was a very questionable move. Why did she go to the Intercept and Rolling Stone?  Why didnt she go to ABC or CBS?

She is trying to get Sanders inserted into Bidens presumed spot as the Democratic presidential candidate, and I think that makes her position suspicious.

But even if Biden did it, it is politically immaterial, ever since Trump stayed on the GOP ticket in 2016 after 15 or so women accused him of sexual related harrassment/assault.

The horse is out of the barn.

What do you want now?

I'd like the mainstream media and news sources to treat such stories equally and honestly going forward.  Is that acceptable to you?  I think it would be best for all involved, especially those who may actually be victims of such assault.  You can see my reasoning and where my focus has been here by reading the comments above, no need to question my motives or read something into them that isn't there.

Let her submit herself to a hostile inquiry, like Ford did at the Senate hearings.

Certainly that is one aspect of these two cases that differs.  Good point.  Because of the process in confirming a justice of the court, Ms. Ford did need to testify and weather the additional scrutiny.  But Ms. Reade is not faced with such an inquiry in front of the Senate or legal body.  The problem with bringing her case to court is the time that has passed and the primarily hearsay evidence on which a case might be heard, as Perrie pointed out above. Her only recourse would be to appeal her case to the court of public opinion and she has already seen what that entails in the MSM.

Everyone has heard her accusation, now people should either produce proof that it is true, or let it go.

Perhaps you are right.  Now how would you have reacted to that suggestion during the Kavanaugh case?  How about the Trump cases?  You want to let those go too?  How many here based on what you have read in the article above, or in general across the political blogosphere, are willing to let those go?

Continuing with it in the news every day can only help Trump. Do you want to help Trump?

You know very well that I have no desire to help Trump.  But do you really feel that Reade's complaint should be dropped just because it might help re-elect Trump?  What sort of example or message does that send to those who might be victims of sexual assault, especially at the hands of those in political power?  That is the very sort of thinking that skews the coverage of these types of cases, and allows some of these guys to get away with it.

Tara Reade associated herself with anti Biden people in the media, to tell her story.  That was a very questionable move. Why did she go to the Intercept and Rolling Stone?  Why didn't she go to ABC or CBS?

That is a good point. To be fair, she did go to the NYT in April and the AP did a story on it in May, but I think you saw how she was treated by the NYT.  Perhaps she will open herself up more to interviews with other media outlets. If they would unseal the records at the Secretary of the Senate's office and at the U of D, perhaps there might be more to talk about, yes?

But even if Biden did it, it is politically immaterial, ever since Trump stayed on the GOP ticket in 2016 after 15 or so women accused him of sexual related harassment/assault.

No argument from me on that point.  That marked the end of my voter registration with the Republican Party.  Now registered Independent.

The horse is out of the barn.

Maybe so, but do you really think we have to keep letting more of those sorts of horses out of the barn due simply to a rival party precedent?

What else is she going to do?  I guess she could find a lawyer that will sue him on some basis.

If not, yes, she should drop it. What is the alternative to dropping it, going over the whole thing a thousand times between now and November?

If she has any other "evidence" then bring it forward. If not, then let it fade away.  Most of the women that accused Trump did not get this sort of coverage across months. Some of them were only in the news for a couple days.

Ford got a lot of press during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing, and not any before or after.

She can keep telling her story to everyone that will listen, but unless they are going to have congressional hearings about it then yes, it should end as a major story.

Understood.  And that may very well be what it comes to.  However, one potentially key piece of evidence might be locked away in his Senate Secretaries Records until after Biden leaves public office.  Rather convenient for him, but it is what it is. There also might be further evidence of a complaint in Biden's Senate archives kept at the University of Delaware, that so far Biden has refused to request.
