Ex-Obama official, in released transcript, admits she didn't know about Trump-Russia collusion despite prior claims

Evelyn Farkas, a former Obama administration official who previously encouraged congressional staffers to gather evidence of alleged collusion between President Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia and said she "knew" there was additional such information out there, admitted she did not know such information existed in a 2017 interview with congressional investigators.

Transcripts from dozens of such interviews were released Thursday by the House Intelligence Committee.

WHO IS OBAMA ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL WHO SPILLED BEANS?

Farkas, who previously served as the deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia, said on MSNBC in 2017 that she "was urging my former colleagues, and, frankly speaking, the people on the Hill... Get as much information as you can, get as much intelligence as you can, before President Obama leaves the administration, because I had a fear that somehow that information would disappear with the senior people that left. So it would be hidden away in the bureaucracy."

She continued to say she was concerned "the Trump folks, if they found out how we knew what we knew about their, the staff, the Trump staff's dealing with Russians, that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we would no longer have access to that intelligence. So I became very worried, because not enough was coming out into the open, and I knew that there was more.

"We have very good intelligence on Russia. So then I had talked to some of my former colleagues, and I knew that they were trying to also help get information to the Hill."

But the tranche of transcripts from 2017-2018 House Intelligence Committee interviews showed that several top Obama officials, including Farkas, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes and former National Security Adviser Susan Rice all said they had or knew of no hard evidence of Trump-Russia collusion.

Farkas' interview with the committee took place just a couple of months after her comments on MSNBC.

"I didn't know anything," Farkas responded to a question from then-Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., asking how she would have known about information in the possession of the Obama administration about Trump-Russia collusion if she didn't work for the U.S. government anymore. Farkas had left the Obama administration in 2015.

"Then how did you know?" Gowdy replied.

"I didn't know anything," Farkas repeated.

"Well, then why would you say, we knew?" Gowdy said.

"So if they found out how we knew --" Farkas continued, before apparently being cut off by Gowdy as the two went back and forth over Farkas' use of the term "we" and her use of the term "if" in an answer to describe the possibility that there was collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign team.

"You also didn't know whether or not anybody in the Trump campaign had colluded with Russia, did you?" Gowdy later asked, getting to the point.

"I didn't," Farkas said.

The Federalist was the first to report on Farkas' reversal between her comments on MSNBC and before the House Intelligence Committee, and the story prompted a Twitter spat between Farkas, who is now running for Congress in New York as a Democrat, and Donald Trump Jr.

"On TV she said sh[e] had it but... Under Oath, Evelyn Farkas Admitted She Never Had Any Evidence," Trump Jr. tweeted. "All these clowns did the same. Where's the accountability?"

"If it's what you say I love it especially in November," Farkas retorted, quoting comments Trump Jr. made in an email in summer 2016 that was part of a conversation about getting dirt on Hillary Clinton from a Russian source.

"@DonaldTrumpJr wants accountability? Send me to Congress and let's give him some," she continued.

What?

Tell me another Obama Administration official didn't LIE???

Looks like the whole ball of yarn will become unraveled when press members comb through all the documents, hoping to find some Russian/Trump collusion, only to be sorely disappointed AGAIN.

So glad the TRUTH is now coming out, however slowly.

Nope. Just wondering what the obsession with Obama is.

[Deleted] Is that it, that is totally it.

Because someone mentions Obama has nothing to do with obsession.

Because someone mentions Obama has nothing to do with obsession.

That is just the opposite of how they feel about Trump.

Somehow the leftists on here are able to turn any seed, any post that has nothing to do with Trump and turn it around and make it about Trump.

They relish that....but even the hint of Obama and holy shit, being triggered is an understatement.

so we should just ignore traitors? give them a pass?  water under the bridge?

LOL

people have to go to jail and then we can move on. but not one day before that.

that bs can never be allowed to happen again.

obama and crew will be made examples of. and it will be harsh.

the long term survival of our nation depends on it.

You can almost understand why so many left wingers can't handle the reality that they've been played for fools the last few years.  For the last three years, the members of Obama's national security apparrtus have been all over media claiming Trump colluded with Russia.  "It's worse than Watergate!" Being told the President is a traitor. Being told by Obama's team that secret evidence exists that will prove collusion.etc... Two years they were fed these  lies from the same people who were admitting, when under oath, that they've never seen any evidence of collusion.  It was a giant feedback loop brainwashing the left into believing a fantasy, as if they wished hard enough they could will collusion into existence.

But it's been three years. They were duped. They need to recognize how they were manipulated by the Obama national security team and a friendly MSM out to overturn the election of 2016.

THANK YOU DEMS.

This is the tip of the iceberg and is the beginning of the end for the Dems.

The November election is now assured to end up with another 4 years of Trump, Senate and House Republican majorities and will relegate the Dems to being a non relevant party until/unless they start working in the best interest of America instead of spending their time trying to undermine a duly elected POTUS.

Hopefully this will also be the beginning of more than two political parties of relevance in the USA.

Only in your fevered dreams. Your "president" and most of the gop are gas-lighting you so bad it's pathetic.

Been hearing that spin for 3 1/2 years and despite the Dems attempts to have Trump removed from office, their efforts have done nothing except cost the taxpayers money and the dems a loss of credibility.

Mueller report = nothing

Impeachment = nothing
