Seattle Police Chief: ‘We’re Not Able to Get to’ 911 Calls for ‘Rape, Robbery’ in Autonomous Zone
Michael Solan, the head of Seattle’s police union, also slammed the decision to leave the precinct, calling it “the closest I’ve seen to our country becoming a lawless state.”

How many lives will the left destroy before the summer is out?  (open for debate).

this is what no cops look like      (not debatable)

trump is off topic

“Our calls for service have more than tripled,” she told reporters. “These are responses to emergency calls — rapes, robberies, and all sorts of violent acts that have been occurring in the area that we’re not able to get to.”

the left got what they wanted.... no cops.

so, now we sit back and watch women get raped people die and lives destroyed at a record pace?

this ain't gonna end well. on more than one level.

no sane person is going to want today's left to govern the country. or their state.

and countless people will have their lives destroyed before this is over.

To say the citizens of Seattle have been let down by their mayor and elected officials is a pathetic and gross understatement! I sincerely hope a potential bloodbath can be avoided, but it is very much a possibility and the blood will be on the hands of the mayor and city council of Seattle for allowing it to come to this to begin with! It already is for those that have lost their lives already.

Problem is what do you do about the business, owners, those that work there, and those that live there that are doing nothing wrong? Do you cut them off from getting to their livelihoods and homes?

Of course they can't protect them either; so maybe cutting them off from access is for the best.  I am sure Seattle can foot the bill for the income lost, and extra costs for putting them up someplace nice to stay with all of the amenities.

Trump Fumes as Protesters Stake Out Festive Zone in Seattle

By   Associated Press
June 12, 2020 11:58 AM
AP_20164040659527.jpg?itok=G4pEU5ON

From The Article:

City Councilwoman Kshama Sawant disputed accounts of violence or intimidation by protesters within the area on Capitol Hill and said it was more like a street fair with political discussions and a drum circle.

"The right wing has been spreading rumors that there is some sort of lawlessness and crime taking place at the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, but it is exactly the opposite of that," said Sawant, a socialist and a critic of Durkan and the police.

And as far as it being a major portion of the city of Seattle, please give me a break. The City stretches from N 145th St to S 120th St, in other words, 265 blocks from north to south, give or take. So the area that some describe as a "major portion" of Seattle, if you draw a rectangle around it, would be 16 city blocks. About a third of that area is Cal Anderson park. If you look on the map of the City, it is the area in yellow.

From another article :

Pastors and progressive gun-toters are just the start; just about every conceivable sort of volunteer has brought whatever she or he can offer. “We do not accept $ donations of any kind,” the No Cop Co-Op announces over tables heaped with groceries for anyone who wants them. Other ramshackle stalls and tables offer free clothes, battery charges (for tools and bikes as well as phones) and food, from camp-stove fry-ups to the enormous tureen of crab soup one Asian family ladles into disposable cups. The free books at the Chaz People’s Library and Mutual Aid Books tend to be crisp and movement-friendly. Two women circulate with a handwritten sign offering mental-health help. Yes, they say when asked, we are certified therapists. Others circulate with garbage bags, darting at every scrap of litter. The trash cans are stuffed but I’ve never seen the street so clean.

Why don't you do something positive instead of kicking crap all over people who are trying very hard to make a difference?

Well, let's see. Sitting in the street is against the law. Blocking a public street is against the law. Businesses are boarded up to protect from looting, which is also against the law. Those people are sitting outside the police station where cops were forced to flee for their own safety. Threatening a police officer is a crime. So yeah, there is lawlessness.

From King 5 News:

On either side of the conversation, organizers of the event feel like its original message is getting twisted. That's why speakers took the microphone Sunday in front of the Seattle Police Department’s boarded-up East Precinct to remind protesters why they're there: to support black lives and dismantle racism.

"This is not a party, this is a mission and we have a mission to accomplish," said Riall Johnson, the Criminal Justice Chair of the Snohomish County NAACP. "There's a lot at stake and we can't relax."

The sentiment of "this is not a party" was reflected by Johnson, as well as several other speakers.

Speakers also emphasized the three demands that protesters want to see from the city: defund the Seattle Police Department, invest in the black community, and release any protesters arrested during the recent George Floyd protests.

"There's a lot of talented black people or even people of color out here and the message is being missed. It’s supposed to be about black lives, empowering black people," said Perry Porter, an artist who had painted the "L" in the Black Lives Matter mural on Pine Street.

Porter said the absence of officers has removed any fear or anxiety protesters had felt in their presence and is proof that they can exist peacefully without being policed.

However, Porter said while those inside the CHOP enjoy their time there, the message should not be lost.

"I really want people to know that you have a lot of black brothers and sisters that have talent, that have voices, who can help lead you. We just need to stop letting this privilege get in our way," said Porter.

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said Sunday afternoon that active talks are going on between city and protest leaders about moving forward and the changes that can be made.

Are they taken precautions?  I am sure they are keeping people from working in that area too.

Taking over an area is not peaceful.

I say get the police or the National Guard in there and arrest every one of them. Then clean up the area.

Blocking traffic is an illegal, albeit effective method of protesting in the United States. When protesters block traffic, they are engaging in civil disobedience, a term coined by one of America's earliest freethinkers and intellectuals, Henry David Thoreau.

While nearly everyone caught in a traffic jam caused by protesters becomes upset due to the delay, it is important to recognize that the inconvenience gets people’s attention, which is what protesters aim to do.

Although organized protests or marches can obtain permits to close streets, frequently protesters move from the permitted areas to other areas. When protesters block highways or streets that they are not permitted to be on, they are breaking the law and do risk arrest.

You want to look at the picture disingenuously offered as "evidence" of no law-breaking? Fine! We'll look at the ridiculous photo and find law-breaking anyway. The argument of photo-as-evidence-of-peaceful-protest is being mocked, as it deserves to be.

Actually, I want real numbers, not just a ubiquitous statement that calls have tripled. ATM, that claim is clearly false. Rape. Show me the actual numbers. Robbery. Show me the actual numbers. Right now the number is zero based on what has been provided here as evidence and information. So again, bring the numbers. The amount of calls, the amount of actual offenses, the amount of each type of alleged offense, and then also the amount of people in that area. This seems like it would be a simple request and an easy way to disprove that this is only hyperbole and rhetoric if not an outright lie.

If you expect everyone else to be responsible in their reporting, you damn well better also be responsible in your reporting or analysis.

I'm not sure how that would help. The claim came from the police department and presumably, they would be the ones to provide the numbers. So you don't believe the claim, but you would believe the numbers from the same source?

that claim is clearly false

Why is it "clearly" false? Do you have numbers?

To be clear, I support the desire for real data no matter which side the claim comes from.

The claim came from the police department and presumably, they would be the ones to provide the numbers.

that flew right over their head... LOL

Like a lot of others on the side of the liberal left, they ask for numbers and hard data. If and when they get provided with such they claim that the numbers are wrong or false by the "right wingers" so why bother? Will they believe what their own eyes tell them? Not hardly, the mile wide blinders they wear prevent that.

There would actually have to be numbers first.

It is clearly false because if there were numbers, they would have added them to bolster their claim. 100% on that.

On the plus side, they've had plenty of time to fabricate them at this point.

'Actually, I want real numbers, not just a ubiquitous statement that calls have tripled. This seems like it would be a simple request and an easy way to disprove that this is only hyperbole and rhetoric if not an outright lie.If you expect everyone else to be responsible in their reporting, you damn well better also be responsible in your reporting or analysis.'

You expect a lot from tRump supporters.

Don't ever expect them to back up any of their nonsense with facts.

what are the citizens going to be called?

well lets see.... if we took part of a city hostage,      they would call us terrorists

so let's just go with that.

Agreed, unfortunately the "citizens" of CHOP won't call themselves terrorists, which they are.

who cares what they call themselves?  I mean seriously....

ya know what's funny?

in almost no time at all they built everything they stand against.

  • borders
  • taxes  (every white has to pay a black person 10bucks)
  • self appointed dictatorship -  complete with brutality. and no accountability

at this point I reckon the brake lines have been cut and the left is going off the rails.

as long as the city and state govt/s support that crap?

there is nothing we can do except stand back and let that train crash...

If what I read last night during my designated reading period is true , source is Fox out of seattle though so doubt it will be accepted. the defunding issue might be solving itself .

according to the report that have been an uptick in those officers eligible to retire , putting in the papers to do so. As well as an uptick in officers resigning to go work at other departments and jurisdictions to work elsewhere .

Instead of defunding , simply don't fill the vacated spots , defunding issue solved if this is true.

"Protect and serve" w/o adequate numbers to do so will be meaningless.
