Harris to visit Guatemala and Mexico for talks on migration, economy

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

Vice President Kamala Harris' first trip to Guatemala and Mexico, which aims to lower migration from the region, will focus on areas such as economic development, climate and food insecurity and women's issues, her advisers said.

Harris will land in Guatemala on Sunday and be in the country until Monday evening, senior adviser Symone Sanders told reporters on a call. She will then fly to Mexico on June 8, where she will spend the day before returning to Washington in the evening, Sanders said.

More than 2 months after she was appointed to oversee the crises she's finally doing something.

She's a real go-getter that one.

And because she's failed at her job...

And because she's failed at her job...

8 weeks?  She hasn't had time to fail.  Were you an automatic genius at your job on day one?  For crying out loud, Sean.

She hasn't had time to fail.

What has she done in those 8 weeks to stop the surge of migrants?

Just look at the numbers

U.S. Customs and Border Protection's enforcement data for April showed undocumented migration at a 20-year high.

Probably no more than was done in the first 8 weeks of any other administration. Surges of migrants happen on a regular basis. What do you think she should have done by now and in the near future ?

It is truly remarkable that so many feel that this is a no brainer issue that only requires some ass kicking. The Ship of State is a ponderous vessel that cannot just turn on a dime to satisfy partisan whims. 7 Central America nations + several Caribbean and South American nations is a daunting heap of interwoven treaties going back decades. It won't be solved by the likes of Ted Cruz doing photo ops in the bullrushes.

I find it interesting that Vice President Harris has not been seen or known to visit any of the major, if any, US border crossing towns to see for herself and talk to the residents in those towns. I live in Douglas, Arizona on the border and nobody has seen her here. Guess that is just a further example of where we stand in the grand scheme of things.

That's not what she was asked to do.

Then what was she told to do?

I think that is very true.
