Videos circulating on social media Friday night showed protesters marching in the streets, fires being set, and vandalism and looting occurring, resulting in the police arresting at least nine people, according to the Associated Press.

"Thick smoke in the air as dumpsters burned at Hennepin & Lake Street in Minneapolis this Friday night," independent video journalist Brendan Gutenschwager tweeted along with a video showing fires in the streets.

Photojournalist Rebecca Brannon posted videos of more fires and also took footage that showed a T-Mobile store being looted by rioters.

Brannon also posted a video suggesting that an unidentified person had been shot during the riot.

The unrest stemmed from a shooting the previous day, when 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith, a wanted felon, was shot and killed by police as they tried to arrest him.

Police officials say that a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force tried to arrest Smith on a warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm when he refused to comply with orders and fired at police with a handgun from inside his car. Smith, who was convicted of beating and robbing his ex-girlfriend in 2017, was then shot and killed by the officers.

Protests and riots also broke out on Thursday night in Minneapolis, and videos on social media showed rioters lighting dumpsters on fire and barricading the street.

Minneapolis is the same location where George Floyd was killed while being arrested by the police, sparking protests and riots across the country for months.

Isn't it rather amazing how the out-of-town right wing agitators get around?

Just another instance of "peaceful protests".

Well, apparently some Republicans think that's getting tiresome:

Mitch McConnell reportedly asked Republicans to vote against the bill as a "personal favor."

The only time the left gives a damn about police is when it is an alt right doing the attacking; and they can use it for their own political gain.

Never heard one damn peep out of the left when it was their loons attacking police and federal officers with molotov cocktails, concrete milkshakes, bats, chains, or anything else they could lay their hands on. In fact the mayor of Portland, Chicago, and Seattle demanded that federal officers be removed. Nor about when their freaks took control of an entire section of Portland; blocked the highways in Seattle; damage federal and private property; and assaulted gays, Hispanics, or anyone else.

Cry me a river that Republicans wouldn't put up with another Democrat dog an pony investigation. We had five damn years of Democrat stupidity, investigations, and impeachment hearings already. The Democrats and the media already have their narrative; an investigation isn't going to reveal jack shit of anything- other than turning into a mud slinging contest that the media will cover 24/7. Fuck all of them.

Agreed, these "peaceful protests" do seem to tend up being a riot fairly often.

George Floyd being a prime example of that.

No one made him a hero, what happened to him was fucked up the max. Freedom loving conservatives should be 100% on board with that, unless you think that the police killing you for no good reason is totally cool.

Really? They have a square named after him that has been shut down since his death. The city paid millions in damages to his family. And BLM was launched to prominence using his name.

I would say he has been turned into a hero and a martyr by the left.

Floyd was headed back to prison and resisted arrest. The officer was completely in the wrong. That doesn't excuse anything that Floyd did.

Eh, okay, I concede the point.

But still, what was done to him was fucked up, would you agree?

Yes I agree; and the officer is going to answer for his crime (after a retrial unfortunately it looks like). Too bad that Floyd isn't still alive to answer for his.

It also isn't right that the rioters aren't answering for their crimes across the US in Democrat run cities. The only way rioters are punished is if they are alt right.

They should be, every single one. Every rioter who breaks the law needs to be arrested and tried.

See, we actually completely agree on this issue, once partisanship is ignored.

Kind of weird that no one has even been charged with acts of terrorism since so many claim it is such a slam-dunk case.

Those alt right rioters on Jan 6th are going to get charged to the full extent of the law. In case you hadn't heard it the Democrats and media are trying to hang the tag on them that they were all seditionists and terrorists. Seditionists and terrorists that were unarmed; and more concerned about taking selfies than anything else. Biggest bunch of morons ever as it made them easy to identify. They even get to face a DOJ run by someone that thinks the alt right is the biggest threat to the US around; that while releasing far leftist rioters from Federal custody w/o charges.

Welcome to the US where justice only pertains to those that Democrats deem should face it.

I hope so.

Insurrectionists yes, the rest doesn't matte to me. They tried to overthrow the rule of law and as such the US government, and as such fuck'em.

Seditionists and terrorists that were unarmed; and more concerned about taking selfies than anything else.

Seditionists yes, terrorists...lol maybe the worst in world history. They were not terrorists, fucking come on. But yes, they were seditionists and very stupid people to not realize what they were doing. Fuck'em.

They even get to face a DOJ run by someone that thinks the alt right is the biggest threat to the US around; that while releasing far leftist rioters

That is a longstanding issue that I won't get into.
