Honda is recalling nearly 725,000 SUVs and pickup trucks because the hoods can open while the vehicles are moving.
Honda is recalling nearly 725,000 SUVs and pickup trucks because the hoods can open while the vehicles are moving.
The recall covers certain 2019 Passports, 2016 through 2019 Pilots and 2017 through 2020 Ridgeline pickups.
Honda said in documents posted Friday by U.S. safety regulators that the hood latch striker can become damaged and separate from the hood.
Dealers will either repair the striker or replace the hood if necessary at no cost to owners. Honda will notify owners by letter starting Jan. 17.
The worldwide total is 788,931, with just under 725,000 in the U.S.
pffft, made in america...
Had this happen in an old beater I owned many years ago, let me tell you it'll get your heart rate up
back then all you had to do was pull over and slam the hood back down. now when it happens, the hood gets folded in half over the top.
Ha. Nowadays when in a crash instead of a dent the whole car crinkles up.
Which was exactly what i did, although the rear corners wer bent up some
at my age, a beater is a vehicle from the 50's or 60's with much thicker sheet metal.
That would have freaked me out.
Lol it took several minutes before I carried on (nervously and slowly)
I guess the wait for flying cars will be a long time. They can't even get hood latches right after 100 years...
