Twitter hammered Vice President Kamala Harris for a recent speech in which she described that federal Hurricane Ian relief would be based on "equity" and prioritize people in "communities of color."
Speaking to actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas at the Democratic National Committee's Women's Leadership Forum on Friday, Harris claimed that people of color and low-income communities are most affected by natural disasters such as Hurricane Ian. Because of this, Harris described how federal relief should be given "based on equity."
The Vice President declared, "It is our lowest income communities and our communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions and impacted by issues that are not of their own making."
Vice President Kamala Harris claimed on Friday that hurricane relief should prioritize low income communities and people of color.
Chopra interjected, "And women," to which Harris replied, "Absolutely." The Vice President continued: "And so we have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity, understanding not everyone starts out at the same place."
She added, "And if we want people to be in an equal palace, sometimes we have to take into account those disparities and do that work." The audience applauded Harris' statements.
Though critics on Twitter were outraged by her claims, with many accusing her of being racist towards victims of Hurricane Ian in Florida. Some even claimed she was confusing and scaring storm survivors worried they might not get help quickly because they weren't living in low-income communities.
Tesla owner Elon Musk slammed the Vice President's quote, stating, "Should be according to greatest need, not race or anything else."
Students for Trump founder Ryan Fournier tweeted, "You can't make this up. Kamala Harris said the administration will be giving hurricane resources 'based on equity' by directing funds to 'communities of color.' I guess everyone else is just screwed."
Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., rapid response director Christina Pushaw blasted Harris, calling her claims "false" and assuring Americans that FEMA has been giving aid to all Hurricane Ian survivors regardless of race. "This is false. @VP's rhetoric is causing undue panic and must be clarified. FEMA Individual Assistance is already available to all Floridians impacted by Hurricane Ian, regardless of race or background. If you need assistance visit http://disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362."
Journalist Ian Miles Cheong said, "Just say it. Poor white people are screwed and Kamala Harris is gloating about it the same way she gloated about sending thousands of black men to prison over drug-related misdemeanors."
In another tweet, he slammed the media for ignoring Harris' claims: "If journalists were any good at doing their jobs they'd be hammering Kamala Harris on the remarks she made today about how white families affected by Hurricane Ian won't be getting any federal funds because the money will be diverted to 'communities of color' before all else."

Conservative YouTubers, the Hodgetwins, tweeted, "She would be worse than Biden, if that's possible."
Journalist Kyle Becker asked, "Can we just agree this is a tipping point when the 'equity' claptrap has jumped the neocommunist shark?"
Conservative author John Hawkins mocked Harris and the left, tweeting, "Only liberals could find a way to make hurricanes all about race."
RealClearInvestigations editor Benjamin Weingarten said, "The Biden administration is systemically racist."
Author Jim Hanson asserted, "That is a violation of the Civil Rights Act."
And American Greatness senior writer Julie Kelly tweeted about the irony of Harris' statements. She said, "This regime is pouring tens of billions into one of the whitest countries on Earth but warning white Americans to get in the back of the line for their own money to recover from a catastrophic hurricane. And watch her malicious facial expression at the end."

Here is the vice president of the United States (a radical leftist) suggesting that hurricaine victims be aided to according to race. That's why I say the left is the greatest threat to this country.
You sold yourself out early with this week’s headlines. The WH is just piling ‘em on now.
sound a little too familiar?
Sure does.
Just two days ago, [[deleted]] said the hurricane relief should be mandated to minority populations first.
Your idiot of a vice president is a racist.
“Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by Stupidity.”
Hanlon’s Razor
She is simply an idiot who has slept her way into a position she isn’t qualified to hold.
MAGA-ites can be so 'dickish'!
Sounds like a Democrat keeping the racist Democrat history alive.
I wouldn't exactly called what she did "slept".
Ahhhh... MAGA populists are so popular with the women folk!
Straight racism. They don’t even try and hide it anymore.
How do you think Harris feels about America?
After one answers that, one can only guess if Harris considers herself an American. I was unable to get those answers yesterday.
And if you are asking hard core leftist liberal Democrats you probably never will get a answer.
She probably considers herself a Californian.
I asked a few of them. There was one who said she was an independent. She couldn't answer either.
I was thinking a citizen of the world?
We do agree, she most likely wouldn't use the American label.
They have ingrained this idea into their thought processes so completely, I'm not sure they even realize they're doing it.
I wonder why the VP thinks her administration's aid support will be based on race or background.
Remember, she got selected because of her race, gender, background and qualifications - the only way the Dems think.
Certainly wasn't for her intelligence.
Well, you got the first two out of four right...
Because she believes that if we’re to believe anything is possible it must be free of thinking of what has been in the past for us to free ourselves of historic constraints and the consequences of what has been.
I was not aware that hurricanes or other natural disasters choose beforehand to strike areas based on equity. Apparently Kamala Hartis thinks they do. This woman gets more and more looney toons with each passing day!
It''s horrifying to realize this idiot is only a heartbeat away from the Oval Orifice
That statement should void the race card forever
Someone should ask Harris to clarify who is included in 'communities of color'. Just how many Democrats is Harris throwing under the bus with her focus on equity? A direct answer would likely splinter the Democratic Party.
All they would probably get in response is one of her cackling laughs.
This is a Bing search for "Kamala Harris" news
The only two stories about this issue were from Fox News.
I think that is probably because Harris wasnt announcing government policy, she was "spitballing' ( speculating or hypothesizing).
Get over yourselves right wingers.
Which means the msm refused to report on it.
I think that is probably because Harris wasnt announcing government policy, she was "spitballing'
It's simply how the vice president feels? That's bad enough, it would be un-Constitutional as policy.
So do you have a full video of this or not? (I am searching C-Span, but the occasion is not jumping out at me.)
She doesn't make much news.
And what news she does make is never good so if course the left wing media will refuse to publish it.
You going to feign surprise that outlets that serve as pr firms for the admin didn't highlight the Vice President promising to engage in systematic racial discrimination?.
she was "spitballing' ( speculating or hypothesizing)
Lol. That's a new one. the "spitballing" racism defense.
Boring. What a self-righteous hot mess MAGA is with its sketchy oppo research. I will ask you: Do you have a full video of her comments in context? If so, produce them and not just the Fox News version. BTW, there is nothing wrong per se with the statements shown; I simply want more of it)
it is said , " spitters are quitters"....
Quoting from the Seed...
Speaking to leaders of the Democrat Party stating that equity is different than equality... Equality is that our laws protect, equity is financial value....
There is no doubt of that...
And clearly her statements about people of color should have preferential treatment....
So two things here people of color is clearly racist in the manner democrats mean it....
Gotta be tough to make a point John when the leaders of your party are now coming out blatantly racist and telling the leadership forums that they should be as well, to rousing applause...
Last time we saw this as a national policy, led to WWII, and the discovery of where this type of policy leads...
So who is the party of racists?
Well, as is the usual fare around here, those who loudly decry "equity," "equality," are throwing up dirt into the air and sitting in sackcloth and ashes while WHINING that somebody who has often done without may get a chance to get better treatment from an administration that values all its citizenry—especially those hardest hit and chronically 'underwater' due to the state of our national policy-making.
I will look around to see if I can see this interview on an unbiased source, because all I can find right now are critics on the right who are simply out to exploit anything and everything they can! (If I find a video of the event where this took place I will post it too).
U.S. Constitution
"The Fifth Amendment's Due Process Clause requires the United States government to practice equal protection. The Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause requires states to practice equal protection.
Equal protection forces a state to govern impartially—not draw distinctions between individuals solely on differences that are irrelevant to a legitimate governmental objective. Thus, the equal protection clause is crucial to the protection of civil rights ."
Really. And you are telling me this: WHY?
Go on and explain how throughout the history (and present) of this country civil rights have been the "watch word" for conservatives. Please take me on this 'journey.'
Because doing what the vice president just advocated is un-Constitutional.
I do have an important question for you. If the democrats ditch Biden in 2024, shouldn't Kamala Harris become the logical nominee?
Why do you care if Kamala Harris is the "logical" nominee? As for me, I am not thinking that far ahead. You tell me since you are! And one is fooling himself or herself who thinks that this country should live only by the words written in the Constitution and be blind to equity in society.
Because it should scare the living hell out of anyone to think that someone as incompetent as she could be President!
It certainly does me.
And it only gets worse behind her.
This is what liberals have given us .......
How do you think black voters will feel about both Biden AND Harris being ditched by the democrats in 2024?
This reminds me of Bush 41 and Dan Quayle. If Bush 41 had not decided to run for a second term, would people think it suspicious if the GoP turned to someone other than Quayle as their nominee?
If Harris were popular then bypassing her would certainly raise questions. But she is not popular; she is not viewed as a successful VP and has never been popular with the electorate nationally. It makes perfect sense for the Ds to seek someone else as their nominee. Black voters might see this as racism, but it would be an unjustified perception.
You have a valid point, except that you missed my point. Kamala Harris is a black woman (the key reason she was chosen.) I am trying to point out that the black voters who are affiliated with the democratic party are not likely going to like it if Harris is dissmissed for, let us say, a Gavin Newsom. The democrats have invested so heavily in "identity politics" that it almost has to come back to haunt them.
Why do you suppose Mike Pence was chosen? Anything to do with "identity" politics?
Because he had solid credentials with Evangelicals. He had a history of being pro-life.
Anything to do with "identity" politics?
No John. Racism, identity politics and Marxism all found their place within the democratic party,
And you dont think pandering to Evangelicals is "identity politics" ? You are a trip.
pandering
.
When one believes in something, he is not pandering. Pence believed in and advocated for the Pro-Life movement as Governor. He also had a functioning brain.
What makes you think I missed your point?
And I responded by noting that Harris is not successful nor popular so those who would stick with Harris simply because of her ethnicity would likely be an irrational minority. The Ds have had the first Black PotUS and first Black VP. It is a bit ridiculous at this point for someone to view bypassing an unpopular candidate as an affront to their Black constituents.
Marxism?? Good grief Vic. Marxism is, in its essence, anti-capitalism. And anti-capitalism does not mean the state controls industry (that would be state capitalism). Anti-capitalism means the public collectively owns and democratically controls what we currently call the private sector. Where do you find this in the D party platform?
Because you dismissed black voters likely concerns with: "Black voters might see this as racism, but it would be an unjustified perception." Do you think the average black voter is going to see it that way? Or are you simply saying they should understand?
It is a bit ridiculous at this point for someone to view bypassing an unpopular candidate as an affront to their Black constituents.
Democrats have groomed their most devoted following well and there won't be much understanding of ditching Harris for Newsom, by many of them, despite the logic.
Let us begin here:
Do you not see the difference between a single person self-labeling and the D party platform?:
Faulty generalization.
Certainly you would find fault in someone suggesting a radical position of a Proud Boy is ipso facto a component of the GoP platform.
I might if the Proud Boy leadership had been invited to the White House. Your generalization is that for there to be Marxists in the democratic party, Marxism needs to be in the party platform. A lot of what is in the party platform is what can be sold to the voters. It would be hard to sell Marxism to the American people. That being said, Marxism's main weapon is classwarfare. The American version substitutes race for class.
More grasping at straws.
No that is not even close to what I wrote nor any reasonable interpretation of same. What ridiculous spin!
Ya think? So clearly it would be truly stupid for the D party to have anti-capitalism as part of its political platform.
So in your mind any application of class warfare is 'Marxism'? People are so ridiculously loose with their labels ... no wonder communication is next to impossible.
Wow. So can I assume you know all the motivating factors of candidate Biden in choosing a VP? Or did you just go for the cheap dig? And if the 'dig' why do that? Do you realize that I could sit here and demean conservative poor choices which are many all day long-but for it being a superfluous waste of time and energy?
Look Vic, black people want representation in the highest echelons of society too. And, when it was an all-white male 'establishment' - minorities and women need not apply, conservatives did not/do not whine and get mouthy about the choosing. We all know every office held by white males in government power were not due to their high professional standards throughout this country's history. We have proof of nepotism.
So why do you come here trying to dirty up black people for wanting to rise in politics; what is your motivation for doing so?
Evangelical equals identity politics. Pro-life is identity politics.
As to the rest of your comment it is irrelevant. I am not in the democratic party because of racist of any stripe or color. To "h" with the lot of them. I declare all racists are trash! And should seek help for their mental deficiency/ies.
Now then, why are you, Trump, and MAGA 'paling' around and being silent about the proud boys and oathkeepers in the ranks of the republican party?
We must remember something important here: In 2024, VP Harris will have four years as a sitting VP experience. It is the difference a day (can) makes. That is, there is plenty of time for VP Harris to revamp her image/brand/popularity to match up with topical experience on the job.
Of course, MAGA is only interested in (her) failure and 'striking' her with as many political blows as it can. Thus, Vic's untimely (premature) line of questioning.
What the 'h" is that supposed to mean, Vic? Care to try (it) again? Because right now it reads like you crossed a line.
What We Know About the Proud Boys in the Miami-Dade GOP Executive Committee
Alex DeLuca June 15, 2022 11:11AM
I do not see it.
Certainly true.
Do we have numbers on that?
In my personal, wholly unscientific, back of the napkin assessment, she seems very popular with people who place high value on symbolism and identity politics.
I may be wrong. I haven't studied actual data.
Plenty of polls available showing her disapproval ratings among the electorate. And we have her performance from her presidential run. The people who would enable her nomination are the ones that matter.
Her vast experience gained from being VP has thus far netted her some expertise on word salads, cackling inappropriately, and not doing anything regarding the border or security of the border.
What difference has her almost 2 years made?
That sounds good and all, but it is doubtful she would have any more luck as a candidate for President as she had last time, which is to say, basically, NONE.
Oh dear!
Let's not forget a certain lady(?) from Alaska that was chosen to run as VP with McCain.
It's been obvious that she hasn't done much of anything. As of June 2, 2021 Biden had given her SIX (6) jobs, and as of today, October 4, 2022 , she hasn't done anything with them except give meaningless word salad speeches. Here are her "jobs", not in any particular order:
Kamala Harris is a waste of flesh.
Why anyone thought she was qualified for the job needs their freaking heads examined.
She can barely string two coherent sentences together.
She didn't need to be qualified for the job. All she had to do was satisfy the required identity boxes.
Maybe Joe's handlers thought she would be perfect for him--take some scrutiny off some of HIS gaffes and focus it on her complete lack of sense. Maybe they figured she would make Joe seem almost normal in comparison, thus giving him some job security.
She's definitely Joe's insurance policy.
The medium isn’t going to change the dialog.
So, you read the medium for dialog or its commentary—both?
An interview is an interview regardless of the source.
Of course that is true.
Some would rather piss and moan about how evil conservatives are in one breath while crying about 'getting along'.
Somehow, I am sure left wing media (if it bothers to cover the story) will spin it until it is palatable pablum for its intended audience.
So you read all mediums equally?
Are you disputing the VP own words which came out of her own mouth?
Quit denying the truth
Okay; do you have a C-span link to the interview? Barring that; let's assume she said it as it is being carried over by conservatives-why do you have against poor people being given greater assistance because of their background of structural lack in our country?
Most people easy understand the principle of the doctor taking the patient most in need of care first in an emergency room. The problem is that there are many who refuse to accept the fact that there is still systemic inequality in society so rushing to poor communities that likely have more people with little to no financial ability to protect themselves or store up supplies or live in more protected neighborhoods might need any additional help, so they only see the inequity (towards themselves) in the aid, not the system. Many likely see it as a 'reverse racism', the "why aren't all the emergency workers coming for the wealthy white conservative Christian communities first because if you don't then you're being anti-white" rhetoric that is pushed by right wing media.
It sure is pushed by MAGA and those who pretend to want to see the country-the whole country prosper (as long as they don't have to give sufficiently of themselves). BTW, these are the same people who wish for more babies to be born into poverty-stricken single parent homes. Hit my natural disaster--restored back to a level of insufficiency. Thus, ill-prepared for the next 'round' of disaster/s.
Such individuals want us to think they are intellectual in their responses to problems/dilemmas/policy-making; when what they really are is cheap, lazy, and self-interested to the ng degree! Even to the point of dying. . . and not being willing to save themselves!
Which is the exact opposite of what happened here. This is the doctor saying we are going to prioritize helping people based on race, not need of care.
When need is driving the triaging of care, race doesn't get mentioned.
That's true.
But the other half of that problem is that many refuse to accept that large numbers of low-income people refuse to institute even minor behavioral changes that would improve their situations.
We're not going to get one group to move while the other stays intransigent.
Why do you expect other people to create prosperity for you? Why, having created their own, should they also have to create yours?
What are you willing to do for yourself to become more prosperous?
“…large numbers of low-income people refuse to institute even minor behavioral changes that would improve their situations.”
Wow.
A lot to unpack there. Guessing being a resident of Texas you have perhaps met, worked with, worshipped with or recreated with many ‘low-income’ residents. During my tenure in AZ, I did as well. My experience showed me a hard-working, family-oriented, but politically underrepresented group doing what we all strive to do: raising a family, educating our children, and striving to improve their own particular circumstance.
It is much less ‘behavioral’ and much more societal changes that need occur. The entrenched educational, judicial, and economic barriers need to be addressed first and foremost.
These folks are our neighbors and deserve concrete, constructive solutions rather than supercilious, specious psychoanalysis.
‘Behavioral’ indeed.
Being a resident of Texas has very little to do with it. They're everywhere. It's certainly says a lot that someone might not realize that.
But to confirm your guess, yes. I have met, worked with, worshipped with, recreated with, taught, tutored, mentored, paid tuition for, employed, coached, fed, and even married low-income residents.
Yeah. My experience is first-hand and very extensive. I am literally in the family.
Yes. However if that is the extent of your experience, it is exceedingly limited.
I have seen mothers who would do absolutely anything to get their sons into college, but I've seen 20 times as many who won't bother to fill out a FAFSA to get free tuition. Even when we line up volunteers to sit down and fill it out for them... no takers.
True story.. I once paid an electric bill for a family. Three months' worth. The husband/father had received a $12,000 settlement check for a work injury, which they spent entirely on a big screen TV (back when they cost that much). Within 90 days, the power was cut off. I'm not sure how they expected to watch the TV with no electricity. I didn't ask. It was winter and the kids were cold.
I helped another family out when they got several months behind on the rent. Found out later that the guy had spent $800 on a specialized metallic paint for a Harley we was restoring. Not to sell....for himself. He didn't have a job. But he did have kids, and I don't like to see kids on the street if I can help it.
I paid a semester's tuition for a girl who was going to school on a PLUS loan. The check would go to her parents, who would then pay the university. One year, her mother cashed the check and used the entire thing to buy Christmas presents. The girl was one semester short of graduation. An elderly lady in the community let her have a room rent free and I covered the tuition.
None of those were minority families, BTW. This isn't a racial thing. It's a poverty thing.
Those societal changes must result in behavioral changes. That is utterly inescapable. People cannot continue the same behaviors that keep them impoverished and expect different results. Our economy is competitive. If you believe you can improve the competitiveness of a group of people without changing their behavior, you have abandoned reality.
That philosophy is the exact reason why we never make any progress. It's a wonderful excuse for sitting on our asses waiting for somebody else to accomplish something grandiose. Very convenient. Keeps your hands clean.
What they deserve are deserve concrete, constructive actions rather than supercilious, self-serving, non-solutions that do nothing more than make affluent people "feel better".
Yes. Obviously. It's hilarious that you would doubt that.
Over the years, I have coached almost 3,000 kids, about 3/4 of which were low income. I've seen many of those go on to move themselves into the middle income bracket, but many stay poor. The difference is almost always behavior. The kids that make it adopt the behaviors they see middle class people demonstrate. The kids that don't do not.
You can self-righteously try to deny that all you want. But reality doesn't change to suit our feelings.
Poor thing. Here you are going on about 'behavioral changes" when according to most MAGA-ites you all are "freedom-loving" individualists who don't follow anybody else. Well now, isn't this interesting. . . now you admit to "instituting" behavior changes that improve YOUR situation in the pack you travel in.
Guess what? Here is a for instance: MAGA-ites and white evangelicals 'molest' LGBTQ individuals over the institution of marriage. That is, you won't accept LGBTQ people "in" mentally to marriage, and physically you harass/block/set-back that community whenever you can. Why?
Why don't MAGA-ites want LGBTQ persons to be happily married - FOR LIFE - like you all are?
This is not about me, Jack_TX. Don't try to get personal. There are plenty of takers in this country who lie, cheat, steal, smooch, and kill their way to the 'top.' Also there are plenty who cheat on their taxes, don't pay proper taxes (Donald Trump for one), and you support their 'efforts' and activities! So support those who suffer to make menial lifestyles and who endure natural disasters without ripping the government off annually, or murdering people and taking what others have or even worse making policies which deny other people's humanity and 'drive' to be treated decently, humanely, and civilly.
In other words, get the "h" on the right side of history and humanity for a change.
Quite the opposite, actually.
You'll need to ask them.
??? Odd request on the very next post after you've attempted to get personal.
Do you even know anybody "at the top"?
How are those different, exactly?
What activities do you imagine I support?
Why don't we start supporting them doing things that lead to better lifestyles?
Who has been murdered? What are you talking about?
*eyeroll* History is written by people above the poverty line.

Hired mouthpiece.
Whoo Boy.
And yet, it is you who peppered him with your questions.
Ya gotta take off the earmuffs.
Most people I've known who were chronically broke lived that way because of bad behaviors and poor choices not their income. Rich on Friday broke by Monday with nothing to show for it but a hangover and a few roaches in the ashtray and a couple loser scratch tickets. There are necessities and there are extravagances, pack a lunch for work vs. ordering out, make your coffee at home vs. a coffee shop coffee, you'd be surprised how fast a hundred bucks a week can be saved by doing away with just a couple frivolous habits like that. Put a hundred bucks a week in the bank and next time your car breaks down you'll have the money to fix it and you won't lose your job. Behaviors and Choices and the Freedom to make them good or bad. welcome to America.

Incredibly tone deaf.
It is obvious we have a leadership vacuum. If the energy spent attacking one another, on any level and on any topic, was focused on building consensus and understanding compromise is an essential part of effective governance, we would all be better served.
Emphatically.
When will you start?
The first step is to identify and ignore the provocateurs. Those whose only intent is to inflame and incite in a rather sad, vainglorious attempt at relevancy.
So…step one complete.
Congratulations on your first step of twelve.
I have seen many people point out the leadership vacuum at the top with Biden and Harris, but some liberals won't listen to reason on the topic.
“…but some…”
…fail to acknowledge that the vacuum is sucking the air from both parties, leaving the electorate gasping for any sign of leadership, from anywhere.
Yep, and the major vacuum is between the ears of our worthless example of a Vice President!
Dr Martin Luther King.... “A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.”
Good leaders don't build consensus, they lead us to it.....
All this is over when we find one good leader...
So there we have it. Little Miss Fwee-dom wants to repress white victims of Hurricane Ian and push them to the back of the bus to promote "equity" while exposing her own ugly racism.
By the way - Harris has followed in the footsteps of Plagiarizer-in-Chief Biden when she clearly plagiarized her Fwee-dom story several times in her political career. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. told a very similar story in 1965 when Kamala was only one-year-old.
Very dangerous times for my country ..... no doubt about that.
That’s not very optimistic. In just three months, we’ll be halfway done!
This coming November will hopefully be the start to changing things and reverse those dangerous times.
When did "equity" become a dirty word? Is it a dirty word?
Oh wow, the conservatives bitching and moaning about justice again?! What can anybody have against being fair to people trapped in poverty? And facing disasters with less than some others.
Is it a dirty word? No. Therefore, it has never become a dirty word.
Perhaps you can explain what the VP really meant.
No, they are complaining (correctly) about pretending racism is justice.
Jack are you really going to tell me that white supremacy is not a thing in this country? Go on, make your case.
The ironic is thick. That MAGA can see racism when people of color address their lack, but MAGA is perfectly okay with societal wealth spent to advance causes which chiefly affect white, evangelical conservatives is 'rich.'
Once again: Bitching and moaning always the loudest in the room! Why? Because y'all are obsessed with keeping the pathetic social and capitalist state of affairs in this country its status quo.
Worse, it is laughable and not laudable that white evangelicals are some of the worse offenders of God and peace you can every find!
In plain English, what are you trying to say?
Please, again translate to plain English.
How don you know what offends god?
Your indulgence in a lack of anything constructive aside; what are you trying to say?
That I rarely understand your point.
Then don't bother. Just go away. . . and stay so. Festering sores are undesirable.
Huh?
No shit?
Please cite me saying anything of the sort. Go on, make your case.
I'm guessing you mean "irony", and yes, the idea that "black people first" is not racist is incredibly ironic.
We're talking about disaster relief. Please do enlighten us on exactly how hurricanes seek out and discriminate against minorities in such a way as to justify distributing disaster relief to favor them.
Go on, make your case.
Just because he don't like what you have to say, you are the one he expects to go away and stay away. That's comical...
As the saying goes: 'When white people catch a cold; people of color get pneumonia.' Hurricanes don't discriminate-suggesting they do is stupid. However, people discriminate positively and negatively. Why? Because of self-interest and trying to live out an ideology/ies that exclude certain segments of the citizenry. This is nothing new, Jack. That you want to pretend you have not heard or known of any of it just goes to show how "white" and narrow the scope of your understanding is/remains up to now. I would venture you 'shop' around for 'select' people of color to befriend and then only choose from the 'lot' you encounter those who hold to your ideology/ies and beliefs about this country. Does not make it so simply because of the narrowness of your worldview.
I think we are ignoring each other. . . so can you keep me out of your 'mouth' after this?
Would you prefer living some place where there are no white people, no conservative people, no straight people?
Equity, equality, and fairness are generally supposed to go together, unless one happens to be someone like Kamala Harris and others who only believe in selective equity.
Fairness is a moral truth, it drives Equality which is a right, equity is financial value, which has nothing to do with either fairness nor equality...
By attempting to equate the two, they are trying to award people who they claim to be unequal on a wealth basis... It's all about getting or taking as much wealth as they can for themselves... And when it comes right down to it they will equity themselves long before they equitably treat those they claim to represent...
I ask you, is that fair? is that real equality? No it isn't....
Just like Marx rabble roused the poor tenant farmers to hate the middle class, and used the pussy footed cowardly greed of the wealthy to pay for it, and gained power over an entire country... And when they were done, at gun point they sent the poor back to their tenant farms, they took everything from the middle class as their own, they installed their people in industry allowing them to become the all powerful wealthy oligarchs as long as they professed loyalty to the new king...
This is what they are trying to do to America today...
And they are using race hatred and the schools to teach their evil ideology to do it... And none of them will see it until they are done and forced back into their hovels at gunpoint cause they will be the only ones with guns...
Selective equity is racism, always has been as history so openly demonstrates... People who want to apply it to a society are racists thru and thru...
Bullshit. I bet she has zero data supporting this claim. Rich or poor, black or white, if you live in a solid, concrete and steel building, in a big city, the hurricane probably doesn’t affect you much. If you live on the beach, the frickin bayou, or other low-lying area in a wooden shack or a trailer, then the hurricane might wipe out your whole home. But you don’t need to be black to live in those places.
Heck, I’m always being told that black=urban, so maybe these events impact white people even more.
In the end, it doesn’t matter. The people who need help should be the ones to get it. It shouldn’t matter what they look like, and you shouldn’t need to set priorities based on anything other than need.
Meh. Low-income people are always going to have a tougher time. Money makes everything easier. Their homes are more likely to be older and not conform to the most recent codes, they will struggle to pay their deductibles, their cars will be older and many will not be able to replace them for the amount they get from insurance...if they have any.
The racial distinction is just foolishness, I agree. But it's difficult to deny the power of money.
Agreed, to deny the power of money is foolish.
On a more positive note, the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida, based in the Everglades escaped damage this time around but with Wilma in 2004 they lost 90% of all their homes/businesses. They have sent their sworn officers to aid surrounding towns/cities in search and rescue operations and however else they can be used. Additionally being based in the Everglades they have brought in airboats and high clearance vehicles to help.
Spot on
Restoring citizens to their former states is not always efficient; even constructing infrastructure to its status quo does not 'evolve' resources or address what failed to work. This is a time to RESET those places-physically and civilly. Who could gripe/bitch/moan about people getting a new lease on life and to come up from the below the floor over them.
Equity, by definition, quantifies "greater" needs. Do you agree? This is what the Vice-president is saying. There are citizens who had little or limited progress on a course of enduring poverty or path to riches who need aid more than ever after a storm wipes them out! Giving out funds to individuals who will 'expertly' exploit their situation to amass benefits and funds won't remedy desperation. Why is it so hard to connect to the theory of the case:
A white majority is the "House" (sets the rules of 'play') and consequently the house always win?
I think that is the implication, yes. I honestly think she does it as a kind of virtue-signaling.
I have an awful lot of people in my extended, mostly white, family who have lived in a repeating cycle of poverty or something near to it. Poverty has a way of perpetuating itself and I have yet to see anything in our government or society that tends to lift only white people out of it.
I don't want people of color to miss out on the help they need, whether it's because of the cycle of poverty or their race. I also don't want them to feel ignored because of race. I just don't think it's necessary for people in Harris's position to promise help in the way she does. Phrasing like this invariably raises red flags and makes people ask, "just what the heck do you mean by that?"
How about just saying that everyone who needs the help will get it, including people of color. It's perfectly fine to say, "hey, we're going to take care of you." There's just no need to prioritize people of any color.
For MAGA-ites, by the way who are paid professionals in this case, who look/listen for the "oppo," damage, or spin it does not matter the wording the vice-president uses. Remember these. . .people sat in wait on the inauguration night of the first black president in a hotel conference room creating scheming plans to misappropriate and confuse (the public) of any thing he might say and do. And we all saw how MAGA made a complete fool of themselves trying to ball up the Affordable Care Act simply because 'that guy' accomplished its enduring success! (And so now with a majority conservative court (to the shame of the court it should be evidently partisan) they just might end it soon).
No there is no acceptable 'articulation' that will cause MAGA-ites to cease and decease being the "competitor."
Our days and nights, our births and deaths, our short and long lived lives are just fodder for those who make money and careers keeping 'hit flying in all directions for us to have to fix and refix.
If there is a way to misunderstand or not go with the spirit of what the VP meant; her critics to their shame will find it and exploit it for all its worth.
I think that is often true. We see that a ton with protests, where “critics” attack the method of protest (Colin Kaepernick is a good example). However, that does not mean that everything Kamala Harris says is above criticism.
I am not convinced that Kamala Harris actually cares about anyone other than Kamala Harris. So I think she meant to impress voters with her rhetoric, as opposed to offering comfort to people in desperate circumstances. The bottom line is I just don’t trust her - and I feel that more strongly with her than I do with a lot of other politicians, be they liberal or conservative.
I don't know why you don't trust Kamala Harris. That is personal choice-or borne out of some experience or other for which you can relate. I don't know the woman except as a Californian official. However, in this situation, I can give her the benefit of the doubt. Because yes, poor people need help-by definition. They are poor, for crying out loud and their 'hit got blown away and they have little to nothing to get back up with—especially when you consider there are compassion-less others here who don't give a damn about the wealth dripping from some people who 'beat the system' until its broken to get what they need and want-while closing the door in the faces of people of color/the poor!
Bottom line to me is that what Harris is advocating is that, when a hurricane or other natural disaster strikes, if it goes through and wipes out a predominantly non people of color area and leaves a community of color that suffers little damage, she will send funding to the non white one and ignore the predominantly white one. Strikes as blatant racism on Harris's part. Somebody convince me otherwise, if they can that is.
Of course, Vice-president Harris is talking about greatest needs when she addresses the substandard living in the poorest (hardest hit) communities. And Elon Musk, in the one percent, finds place to correct her comment? Why bother, Elon if you are only going to make matters worse?
These poverty-stricken minorities can use a hand up from the 'hole' trenched even deeper into their dire straits which they have been experiencing all their lives-no room for one of the world's richest to interject unhelpful and superfluous comment! Giving conservatives additional 'strength' to come after the poor with negativity.
If Whites, perceived as controlling this country's wealth, power, and influence can not find appropriate aid; imagine the "impossibilities" minorities will face as being worse off!
If a conservative leader had said the emphasis would be on more prosperous areas the howling would be louder than the hurricane
Yep, and the lynch mobs would have been forming and lining up!
Of course! Why shouldn't it be? People who have 'store houses,' 'barns' of wealth; palatial homes, and who enjoy the success of this world should not be 'green' with envy of the poor, indigent, menial workers who sit outside their 'gates' while the dogs lick their sores.* Surely, we all can distinguish people "the haves' and the "have-nots," eh?
*Luke 16:19.
Because we are talking about repairing damages caused by weather.
The aid should go equally to people affected by it.
Do you think the VP really was talking about something else, but just couldn't say it bluntly or even at all?
Surely the “have nots” who are unwilling to pick themselves up, don’t deserve to eat.
From second Thessalonians:
3:10 - For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.
You quoting scripture at me? Can I assume you believe any of the books? Or is this just a convenience for you, when you can abuse the 'word' for a cheap point?
Did I stutter?
You quoted first and a very loose quote at that. I figured I’d tighten it up a little with one that directly contradicts your cherry-picking ..... since you quoted first of course ....
And what about people who live in palatial palaces, why should they get to disregard and mess over the rank and file workers (white and people of color) who outnumber them?
As for your concept of what is loosely quoted: I supplied the place to view the quote. Funny, when I write out the biblical quotes no one picks it up and runs with it. But, when I reference a biblical quote—here you are bitching about it and yeah quoting the Bible (to me).
Go figure.
Cherry-picking? That's rich. You think people should not eat who do not work, but then again you vote with a party that would pay people on a 'catch as catch can' basis if liberals did not push back against it politically and with policy-making for better and higher wages.
I never said that. I simple quoted scripture that did. Or course there are plenty of places in the Bible that say otherwise.
You’d do well to stop trying to put words in my mouth. You always lose when you do that.
Always.
According to you : You picked a scripture that you interpret as people should not eat who do not work.
Did I get it right this time? If not, do clarify what you really mean/t.
Nothing I have supplied was put in your. . . anything . You are free to clear up why you write as you do whenever and as often as you wish.
Notice I don't whine about reading , writing , spelling , and comprehension (much) as my 'critics.' I just go with the 'flow.' Because I am smooth like that.
Wrong, it was picked as a counterpoint to the scripture you cherry-picked as previously noted. Don’t be mad that your attempt to push a narrative got destroyed by it. Just .... go with the flow .....
Nope, wrong again
See 18.2.6 ..... apply liberally, lather, rinse, repeat as necessary
Already done .... you are ... once again ..... confused.
Lol .... opinions on that do vary. Greatly in this case but your self applied ego stroke is noted. Hope it helped with that self esteem issue.
It's nice how you tell yourself how 'strong' you are in your rhetorical delivery. /s
Now that you have 'cleared' that up. . . would you like to add/clear it up some more. Because there is still some more blame you can ascribe to me left on the table, I'm sure of it.
Because that is so much different than folks blaming white conservative evangelicals for many of the evils of the world?
Aren't they the reasons for people failing?
LMAO!
I’m not telling “myself” anything. No need to.
And you sound like you’re feeling guilty. Maybe it would help if you went with the flow more often.
Just go with the flow bro .... go with the flow ....
You go with the flow. . .in the other direction.
Not how you roll according to you ...
So you detour to sexual innuendo? This is politics 'speak'. . .no sexual appetites or pleasures REQUIRED!
Lol ....man you are paranoid..... you’re the only one in this conversation thinking there is anything sexual going on in it ...
Absolutely nobody should be surprised by this. Democrats like Harris and Biden feel people of color are inferior, so obviously they need more help based on nothing more than the color of their skin.
Odd that you think Harris believes she and people of color like her are inferior.
George, people don't need more help based on the color of their skin. They need help based upon how this society treats them based on being minorities in a "whiteness" society. That is, as long as minorities 'know' their place and let conservatives (in this case) lead them everything will be fine. It's this leading that is the problem. It's gone on way too long and it is not fair or acceptable any longer.
And George, what do you feel about people of color?
Well, gee, don't dare break the news to your gal the VP!!!
'Cause she sure seems to think and say differently.
I'll call your race card and hope no one else succumbs to being the perpetual victim.
The person in question because of her comments is a Democrat.
Her boss is a Democrat.
Her party controls the WH, the Senate, and the House.
Perhaps it is high time liberals (white, black, brown, and pink with purple polka dots) looked at the party they claim is doing so much for these 'victims'.
How do I feel about people of color?
I feel they are equal in every way! Why do you feel they are inferior?
I believe people of color can compete with any person on any level. It is people like you who promote the stereotypes that they can’t.
Who are "real" racists George?
It’s sad that in 2022 it has to be explained to you.
Georges definition.
Racists: people or a group of people who judge people as inferior based on nothing more than the ethnicity or the color of their skin. Groups would include klansman and the democrat party.
example: We need to lower the requirements for X based on the color of someone’s skin, or in reverse raise the requirements based on skin color.
example 2: Voting laws affect people of color more than whites.
My question would be, why do you feel whites can overcome the change while people of color can’t?
Or white liberals that say they are the answer to minority problems, so vote democrat and we will help you.
Then disappear for 2 years.
You summed it up nicely, “We will help you” because liberals believe they jut aren’t “capable” of helping themselves.
Good for you, George! Now then, why do you support a political party that interferes with civil rights for minorities while pretending it lifts all people up? Why do conservatives feel they as a majority white (MAGA) group think they know what is best for minorities?
Which civil rights do you feel have been interfered with, and how is it being done and by whom specifically?
Don't white liberals feel the exact same way--that they know what is best for minorities, which is why Democrats constantly talk about it whenever elections come around?
Yes....as PROVEN by my video below. These poor kids have been so indoctrinated by their liberal elders, they absolutely are void of any reality.,
Why are you a racist and how long have you been racist?
since you feel it’s okay to make sweeping statements about what others believe I’m sure the moderators will allow my statement to stand.
I’m still trying to figure out how Karnak “knows” who I support.
Didn't even try to deal with the questions. . . I could wonder why not, but I know already. I am not a racist, but you will figure that out over time since this is the virtual world. Still, I will call out conservatives according to their statements here and in the real world. Bet that!
Remember what Reagan had to say about what liberals 'know'.
No, you rarely, very rarely ever do.
They don't. It's called what some call using the SWAG method, i.e. Scientific Wild Ass Guess.
The liberal rule is anyone declaring themselves not racist are usually the ones that are the most racist.
I’ve read your comments here, you incessantly ask questions without ever answering them.
I asked specifically why you felt people of color were inferior? Why do you feel they can’t compete?
Exactly! Well said!
Silly, it is always the same answer--mean old white conservative evangelicals who control EVERYTHING and have for decades MUST be the reason!
No need to answer a question that is a false equivalence and therefore a faulty premise.
Not all conservatives are “white.” In fact, increasing percentages of minorities are leaning conservative. Especially since dimbulb was elected POTUS in 2020.
Not all liberals are MAWA (make America worse again) but believe in making it better and therefore are MAGA by definition.
Keep spinning baby, keep spinning.
Like Zuckerberg? Bezos? Gates? Buffet?
Those conservatives?
I’m not 100% sure there was any science involved. Maybe EWAG? Emotions based wild ass guess?
Yeah, I have heard the whole- if you have to deny it. . . trite. But, so what? If conservatives can ignorantly declare a thing; I am free and clear to make my own case. After all, I am a free-thinker. If you don't know that already; keep reading my comments!
And I asked "George" or whomsoever you are a question or two. If you don't want to answer them; then don't. Whining not needed.
I only commented about the liberal rule. There was nothing in my post about conservatives declaring something.
Which of your civil rights have been "interfered with"?
Why do liberals? They are majority white also.
That is doing a lot of work there. So define it clearer, please.
Of course! Most things not pure, as there are always exceptions. (Think that group of 'confusion' blacks that fly around the country (on whose 'dime'?) that have a special seating arrangements on the platform behind lying ass Donald. Do some blacks support trash for government office—evidently yes!)
And? As a free-thinker I can say more or less what I wish within set parameters, of course. So WHAT?!
If you have to ask those kinds of questions; you have not been paying attention to years of comments on NT. But that is your business/problem. I told you: I am not going to hold your or any other MAGA-ites hand and go down the path to mind-numbing waste of time and energy. Bone up on current events in politics in your 'off-time.'
If one actually pays attention, one cannot help but notice your longstanding inability to name any actual infringement on your civil rights.
Playing victim is apparently far easier if you can just broadly claim things without being specific.
That way, no one can ever prove you really wrong since you "claimed" so broadly that most people don't even know where to start in debunking the lies.
I asked you a question on this 'matter' of civil rights: 9.2.19
You'll need to ask them.
You gave a typical conservative dodgy reply: "You'll need to ask them."
Not much to work with there is it? You refer me to somebody else, because you would like me and others to think you are above MAGA? Well, you have not proven that while I 'behold' you waddling around in MAGA politics.
Now, continue to talk to me about shallow-thinking. Please proceed, Jack!
That's rich!
You have been implored to simply and clearly state what civil rights you feel have been taken from you or infringed upon.
You have declined to answer each and every time.
Are you attempting to equate someone asking you for clarity on something you claimed with them wanting you to hold their hand?
Seriously?
Yep, actually it appears a majority of them do since they voted for garbage like Biden and Clinton. Apparently being too stupid to realize that folks like that are full of false promises and are only using them to get elected.
Meanwhile other minorities (specifically Hispanics) are leaving Democrats in droves since they got smart and finally figured it out.
I ignored your poorly disguised attempt to cast me as a Trump supporter.
You're doing anything you can to distract from the fact you cannot actually describe how you are persecuted, despite being a member of two different groups you claim are victims.
Is someone preventing you from getting married?
I think that this is his way of trolling.
Define "droves." And so what? People 'float' between parties at will. How come you don't know this; or pretend to not know it?
I am not going to ignore your poorly disguised use of Texan's trite talking points! On the otherhand, he talking loud and saying nothing: I will meet you on the 'other side' -Bye.
This poll defines it as 21 points in 10 years.
That 21-point Democratic lead in congressional preference is down from past NBC/Telemundo over-samples of Latino voters in October 2020 (when it was 26 points), November 2018 (34 points), October 2016 (38 points) and October 2012 (42 points).
I was amazed that any self respecting African American women would vote for Biden after his comments during the debates.
It’s not like they don’t want to be good parents, they just don’t know what to do. Joe Biden.
Lol .... stopping being intellectually dishonest and pretending to not understand what “droves” means in this context. It has been well reported since bozo got in the whitehouse.
[Deleted]
Many just vote for whoever the hive tells them to vote for. Intellectual dullards if you will ....
Thx for the assist but it will be ignored and/or redefined as somehow bad via this woke/progressive nonsense or that ...
SOSDD.
And yet.....
I can say for certain, having grown up and continue living (except for 20 years of military service) right on the AZ/Mexico border and being of mixed Hispanic and Native American heritage on my mother's side, I have a large extended family and many neighbors here in Cochise Country that are extremely disenchanted with Biden and the Democrats in general. Especially on the Democrats abysmal border policies. Large numbers have left the Democratic Party and are now registered Independents like me or have switched to the Republican Party.
Thx for the input Doc but it will be ignored like usual. Denial is many liberals first and last step each day.
How did you ever become a successful member of society without liberals helping you the whole way?
That was sarcasm Doc, thank you for your service!
In my opinion, having grown up around and on the border and having been exposed to prejudice and racism myself, by my teenage years I learned that one is only a victim if one allows themselves to be one. I joined the Navy right out of high school looking for a better life, married and raised a family. I had a successful military career as well as a civilian one after that. And, with homage to Frank Sinatra, I did it my way. I have taught my children and my grandchildren some of the same lessons I learned growing up so they don't have to go through what I did.
See post #19.2.49.🙂
What was it like your first time at sea after growing up in a high desert area?
People float political parties in 'droves' too! So what?
Your weak attempts at being condescending fails. Old "DOTW" tries to give you a hand up for your lack with some poll results-but as I told him/her people float between parties as it should be (depending on how questions are asked).
Says a Trump supporter. I am pretty much sure if Donald Trump appears in a (Trump-branded) rally next to a hulking demon in human clothing; you all would at least consider remaining in the cult of Trump and gnash teeth if any can't stand it and are 'driven out' by the presentation.
I was awed by it. The differences in the oceans are incredible. The Indian Ocean is a deep shade of blue. The area around the Great Barrier Reef off Australia is crystal clear for many feet down. Saw great white sharks, whale sharks, giant manta rays, blue whales just to name a few. The South China Sea was a off shade of green to me. Sailed through some of the roughest season the world underneath Australia between Perth on the West Coast to Sydney on the East coast on the USS Okinawa (LPH-3), a amphibious assault ship. Glad I have never been prone to motion or sea sickness. But having experienced that, I love the desert. It's in my blood. I was very happy to come back to it after I retired. Sorry to ramble on.
Your weak attempts at accusing others of condescension, while yourself being condescending, are almost childlike in nature.
Your assignment..... work on that and get back to me.
Get on it!
Yawn ..... TDS driven nonsense like that is worthless in the real world.
My first was the Midway in the mid 80s when she was stationed in Japan. Even though she was a carrier, she rocked like crazy if there was even a hint of wave size. Stabilizers were installed but they did not help.
Because of the constant rocking, sea sickness was something I never had to deal with. Land sickness was a different matter at times.
I swear the pilots on that ship were the best in the world landing at night on the stamp in heavy weather.
What got to me on my first float was how many stars there were when we were running blacked out, no ambient light pollution.
I swear, there were more stars than space between them.
It is an awesome sight .....
It is and it didn't matter what part of the world you were in.
And the moon, how clear it was.
I swear you could spot the lunar lander if you knew where it was. Later in life when I did a live aboard dive trip to Chuuk Lagoon I’d spend my evenings up on deck eyeballing the moon and stars through their spotting scope.
Never gets old.
Okay, I warn you this could take a while; don't hold your breath! But now when have you ever regarded anything useful I write?
[Deleted]
Define, awhile.
Well now, I just watched from my living room window a 'happening' mundane in its execution, but beautiful in its timing: A white woman whom I often see on many occasions (and we speak across the distance) just passed with the dog and her (white husband) holding her hand and walking together. She seems a tad 'halted' in her steps today; about a half step behind him (still holding hands).
To me, it was a beautiful moment. Why? Because I must have seen her before with him and the dog. But today it stuck out to me, just how beautiful love between an aging couple can be. . . out for a stroll on a Sunday evening. . . . I wanted to take a picture of them, but that would break the 'spell.'
Thoughts.
A WHILE: Longer than a conservative can hold breath, I am pretty sure.
I remember being out in the middle of the IO (Indian Ocean) and the ship would "drop the load" which was Navy slang for losing all power and going dead in the water. Two very memorable events come to mind. The first was being up on the flight deck when the power went at around 9:00 PM. No lights from the ship at all except dim yellow emergency lighting, and the multitude of stars in heavens. The second time was losing power in the Philippine Sea just as the sun is going down on the horizon. That is a kind of sunset you will never see anywhere else!
Thanks Ed, I’ve never thought about big ships power.
That’s how I felt on my first Arizona night sky when I pulled the car over, turned out the lights and looked up at a Dec sky at 23:00 on Route 90 just East of the Coronado National Forest. Awe inspiring.
The Okinawa was a old ship commissioned in 1960 I believe. She was round bottomed unlike the gator freighters of today. As a result she was much more prone to rolling in heavy sea conditions. I remember her taking 30 to 40 degree rolls with 20 foot swells. We had to close the hangar deck doors to keep water out of the hangar deck!
So it a trend line still heading south,
Do you mean vote the candidate more than the Party, Yes, I do, never called it "float political parties", maybe that a Californias thing - Did you vote in the last election? No man, I floated.
I am sure you will call it whatever you will. It is what is it is.
Actually, If you had kept on going I 80 toward New Mexico to the other side of the Chiricahuas toward a small town called Portal, AZ in the foothills of the Coronado National Forest, the skies are even more spectacular for star gazing!
Thanks for the tip, the Portal Peak Lodge might be in my future.
I highly recommend it.
Nah, awhile in this case is closer to infinity ..... and beyond even.
Karnak was always my favorite segment on Johnny Carson's shows.
Mine too, I use to plagiarize it in Army unit Hail & Farewells, such as:
A: Aged and weathered.
Q: What does our Sergeants Major have in common with the Alps?
A: Snoopy and Woodstock.
Q Who is running the battalion while the commander is on leave?
A: Spit, scratch and complain.
W: Describe a pissed off First Sergeant.
A: Wake up and smell the coffee.
Q: What do you do after a night out in Berlin with the BN staff.
Wasn't Midway the forward deployed carrier at Yokosuka at about that time?
This is a good summary of what everything white liberals believe. Unfortunately, it is mostly white liberals that indoctrinate our children in colleges and universities.
By the way, how do you prove those were "white liberals"? And yes, even in California I have ID all my life. But, this is not about me-wherever it is having in the country. Just fix the issue of voter id and stop talking pass it. Apparently, it is real enough because it keeps coming up. And the "geniuses" in D.C. on both sides are not slick enough to fix it? Just astounding.
Because no white conservative believe blacks are unable to obtain an ID. We argue this all the time.
The rest of your post?...
Wow....I understood zero of it.
That is not proof of "white liberals": Try again. As to the rest of your comment; who gives a 'hit?
That being said, I don't fully understand the whole voter id dilemma as it occurs around the country. Some of these states have really odd, reoccurring issues and circumstances. California is doing fine voting every time with no such issue debate.
They are white liberals. There is no question about it.
And I don't care that you don't give a shit.
Good. And you can't prove they are white liberals by just saying so. Not that it matters anyway. The ID issue is old and tired. And, congress should find a working solution to it, after all solutions are what they are supposed to be about-instead of just being in politics for politics sake! Talk about lack of merit on this issue—congress do your job!
I don't give a 'hit that you don't give a 'hit.
We would love to, but Democrats seem intent on stopping voter ID laws from passing.
The question really is:
Why are Democrats afraid to have voter ID laws?
There is only one answer to that question....and it ain’t voter suppression ...
It is always easier for Democrats and liberals to play the poor, poor victim card.
It is always someone else's (read: conservatives) fault for whatever is wrong in their lives.
All elections , federal, state, and local are administered by the individual states, not the Feds.
Superfluous. Congress legislates. That's all.
Hardly:
“The Supreme Court has interpreted the Election Clause expansively , enabling states to provide a complete code for congressional elections, not only as to times and places, but in relation to notices, registration, supervision of voting, protection of voters, prevention of fraud and corrupt practices, counting of votes, duties of inspectors and canvassers, and making and publication of election returns. 2 The Court has further recognized the states’ ability to establish sanctions for violating election laws 3 as well as authority over recounts 4 and primaries. 5
You've been 'served' already. Go consume it.
He proved his point.
Still awaiting proof of your 'point'.
Is your comment meant to be a riddle?
Provide some unbiased links proving that white conservatives have ever said what the white interviewees said in that video.
[deleted]
lol .... if there weren’t white liberals, there wouldn’t be many liberals.
Probably because it may impinge on their voter base numbers.
What this video shows is that white liberals/progressives believe that American black people are too stupid to:
Just a reminder of what formerly anti-desegregation Joe Biden said:
But yet, for some reason, blacks still run to the democrat party by the millions.
I guess the promise of free things every 2 years is too much to ignore, but obviously, many of them forget that none of those promises ever come true.
Confounds you, eh? And yet you don't ask what is wrong with the republican examination of itself that liberal minorities are not crowding in and clogging the entrances! Mind-numbing isn't it?
Sure is. I don't know why it isn't to you.
For decades, white liberals have promised blacks the world in exchange for their vote, but have never delivered.
Why anyone falls for that tripe every 2-4 years is beyond understanding.
Those free Obama phones were a really good deal. Folks got as many as they wanted and then sold them for 100% profit.
And yet, liberals and minorities are not crowding your conservative 'doorstep' eh? One has to wonder why that is! It's like democrats are the 'only' alternative in the game!
Why so many divisive, demeaning comments filled with animosity and mockery?
Can't we find a way to have a rational, polite, adult conversation about Kamala Harris' offensive comment which clearly shows that she believes that black/brown people are helpless, stupid and therefore require white people's "equity"?
Although her racism is critical to the Democrat Party's success, it is very ugly and unjustified to those of us who believe in Martin Luther King's dream.
You really believe in Martin's dream, do you? How is that working out? I mean, unlike Donald's political party of 'tricks and drama,' Martin was a very diverse leader. And to that end, all of Martin's associate were 'caught' paling around with democrats after his death—including Lydon B. Johnson-you know the one who conservatives like to mock because of his racist past. Still, confusing eh?
It gets better or worse depending on one's perspective. I hold a good opinion of President Johnson too-despite hatred, dread, doom, and importantly repentance in his life! There is only one problem area that is difficult for me about Johnson-his conduct related to the Vietnam War. But, that is another discussion for another day.
I’m still waiting for my Obama phone .... I’m very disappointed, at this particular time.
Thank you for your reply, but you deflected and didn't address any of my questions.
Why should I answer inflammatory rhetoric masked as questions? You tell me. I supplied you with my answer regarding Martin's dream and his legacy friends long-term association with the democratic party.
My comment 20.2.9 does not contain that which you block-quoted.
Perhaps you can clarify your meaning?
Is this your comment and your questions you are referring?
This is getting ridiculous.
Yes, it is, and in comment 20.2.11 I did not deny it. I merely noted that you wrongly block-quoted one of my comments. I made the comment you referenced at 20.2.6 ... not 20.2.9 .
Please stop making petty, accusatory, personal attacks and address the seed's topic. Thank you.
Then you don't seem to be 'debating' with yourself about what your own questions are. I can't help you with that, Jasper. Your insults are contemptible. Bye!
Yours usually aren't understandable.
After listening to those white kids, I’m amazed that they were accepted by Berkeley.

I’ll have to rewatch, I missed the spots were they were thinking and not just reciting.
You can’t fix stupid but you can indoctrinate it.
It is depressing to read some of the garbage on these seeds that passes for knowledgeable opinion.
There are currently 58 African Americans in the House Of Representatives in the US Congress.
97% of them (56) are Democrats.
In and of itself a statistic like this shows us that either a) blacks are not welcome in the Republican Party or b) blacks believe they are not welcome in the Republican Party because of the recent history of the Republican Party.
Polarized nonsense.
There are more black Dems in the US House simple because they are now institutionally Democrat in areas they represent. Republicans rarely win in those districts. More black Republicans don’t get elected to the house simply because they tend to represent districts with higher % black populations present in larger cities. There is nothing nefarious about. Those populations simple tend to be more liberal.
Interestingly, 56 out of 435 is almost exactly representative of the black population in the USA. About 13% vs being about 14% of our population
Not bad unless of course you have a negative narrative axe to grind.
If Warnock loses, 2/3’s of the African American senators will be republicans. Cue the Uncle Tom comments from the left.
What percentage are black Republicans?
2/435 =.0045,or less than one half of one percent. How does that compare with the overall black population percentage?
See the reply above yours
Pew Research had Trump at 12% of the Black male vote, 8% with Black woman included. 40% non-Black Hispanic male vote, 38% overall.
I’ve already explained it to you.
Sorry you chose to ignore it.
When 97% of congresspeople of one ethnicity are from the same party, it means something, your boring 'explanation' not withstanding.
Intellectual dishonesty noted.
Bla bla bla.
It means the Democratic party is staying with its tradition since its founding of keeping people of color minds Black & Blue.
'Black and blue' - is this meant as an insult to people of color, MonsterMash? I don't want to misread and put 'words' into your mouth. Can you make this plain(er)?
Scintillating comeback ..... really!
Latinos don't appreciate it when Democrats lump them in with whites. You just offended the 13 Latino Republicans in Congress.
There are also two Jewish Republican members of Congress. They don't like getting lumped in with whites either.
Also two Asian Republican members of Congress. Please tell them they are both white since they are Republican.
Your racist card is and old, pale, frail, fuck up in the White House that was for segregation. Who has made enough racist statements that Democrats and anyone that supports them need to STFU before even playing the racist card.
I am not a fan of Kamala Harris either, but I don't believe she actually said what is being claimed above, certainly not the second one. She was responding to multiple questions about climate policy in general and longer term investments in communities (not just Florida, or South Carolina but areas like Puerto Rico and other places in the Caribbean) not just in terms of relief but mostly in recovering and re-building such areas to be more resilient to these weather events in the future. Hence her touting of the $369 billion buried in the Inflation Reduction Act for addressing the effects of climate change. Those funds have nothing to do with immediate Hurricane Ian relief.
The entire discussion can be heard here (listen to the part starting at 4:00 to about the 10:00 minute mark), and I think if you listen to the whole thing to gain the full context you will see that there has been some confusion about what she said, and that perhaps there has even been some significant distortion about what she actually said. IMHO there is a very fair analysis of what she said and didn't say here :
I think that the way in which multiple questions were posed, and her somewhat awkward attempt to unpack them, could certainly have been confusing to some, but the conclusions drawn in the two quotes above seem to be a purposeful misrepresentation of what she actually said. I think that DeSantis' office response was a more reasonable one in that it focuses on dispelling any fear people may have had about what she said, rather than stoking it.
IMHO, I think we all need to be more vigilant in these days where hyper-partisanship finds its way to the headlines and dig a bit deeper to find the truth. There is certainly a great deal of this hyperbole and fear-mongering going on these days like there was when Trump was president (and still to this day with respect to Trump). Journalistic integrity has given way to partisan propaganda, unfortunately. But once the consumer realizes this, and realizes that it goes both ways, they know that there will be more work required on their part to uncover the truth before repeating the headlines.
DNC Chat with Priyanka Chopra Jonas & VP Harris
Of course, Fox News would exploit anything Harris says no matter how sanguine; they hate her and the liberal party she hails from: The Democratic Party. And 'they' wonder why a majority of people of color can't stand their mind-numbingly exploitative. . . narratives and conclusions.
NOTE: Thank you Freewill for sharing this link. I could not find it.
Hmmmm. Does that sound familiar? If I were to substitute MSNBC or CNN for Fox News, and make it about Trump or Pence (or any other top Republican) and the Republican party in your statement above, wouldn't it still be accurate, or at least something you might hear other partisans utter here?
Hence my statement:
Journalistic integrity has given way to partisan propaganda, unfortunately. But once the consumer realizes this, and realizes that it goes both ways , they know that there will be more work required on their part to uncover the truth before repeating the headlines.
Once one's eyes are wide open to this, then one can distill the truth from the bullshit that both camps continuously shovel.
You bet - That is what I try to do, find the root source, find the truth, regardless of which party the propaganda or hyperbole is coming from. I'm an equal opportunity bullshit detector.
Still, one has to choose to listen to something or be left in a vacuum without a point of view at all, eh? There are people who are trying to get it right 99.99 percent of the time. FOX News which I used to listen to before they 'lost' their damn sense of fairness and decency towards and decided republican "culture warring" and liberal downcasting became its 'worthy' meal-ticket to wealth, power, and influence-peddling.
It is not easy delivering news these days, because "many people" manipulate media and its writers—even lying to them with purpose to 'frustrate' and invalid stories once released.
None of this is easy. But the lying and omissions on FOX News are damnable, offensive, and need condemnation.
NOTE: BTW, it is your supplying the link to the video which I used to drill down on to get this transcript. Thanks (again)!
If you think it is only Fox News, then you are not grasping the point, or worse yet you don't want to.
I watched Fox News at its inception and for its first ten or so years on air. Then, when Obama decided to run for president, Fox News took on a different perspective and to put it mildly they did not treat him fairly. The channel went 'after him' and not just with Bill 'O,' Hannity, or Beck. I could not stomach their coverages during his administration for eight years, and it has not eased up much since then.
I do 'check in' every now and then to see if they are doing any better: they are not (as you should see how Fox News' "The Five" discussed VP. Harris' comments:
‘The Five’ discuss VP Harris’s comment on ‘equity’
after Hurricane Ian
The Five: say around and yucked it up and 'drowned' the VP in negative rhetoric during a ten-minute segment (above). That is not 'fair and balanced' and no it does not help if you say a democrat on the panel. . .and then 'shred' someone of just treatment in-spite of it.
Why does Fox News do it: Largely, because they can: lies make great entertainment and ain't it fun to have to 'unpuzzle' the truth all the time? /s
One more thing about partisanship and those who practice and abide it: I took a 'long' look at something Senator Rick Scott, Republican, was said to have 'delivered' on a sunday show about the VP's remarks on Politifact's "Truth-o-Meter."
At first glance a democratic party partisan would jump at the chance to call out Senator Scott, Republican, as making a "false" statement about VP Harris' equity remark. But, as you can see from the transcript. . . VP Harris "unpacked" her comments in two 'parcels' and as I see it she really does wish to treat the Florida crisis with equity which leads to equality for all. That is, she wishes to see poor people do well coming out of this hurricane, because 'they' usually get left out of the weightier grant opportunities from disaster restoration plans.
I, for my part,do agree with Politico 's ruling:
// I do NOT agree with one of three Politico 'bullet points' on Harris' equity remarks:
To me, VP Harris addressed both short-term and long-term hurricane relief in the interview. Therefore Freewill, as you can see I can be. . . discerning. . . in making my own conclusions.
So you agree then with the sensationalized headline of the seeded article? Why do you not agree with what the White House (not Politico) said about her comments, if you actually listened to what she said? Sorry man, I'm confused as to why you would disagree with that bullet point as it is central to what we are discussing here.
Sure. Or one can choose to listen to all of it, and if confused about the apparent contradictions/omissions, or if parts of it sound a bit outlandish, one can dig deeper to get to the truth, if having a fully informed point of view is deemed important. IMHO one's point of view should never be completely dictated by a single source of the "news", or by the partisan blogosphere, especially in today's highly charged partisan environment. If one goes into it seeking only sources that corroborate one's own bias, or if one avoids any sources that might challenge one's bias, then one won't land on the truth. Honestly, if it sounds like political propaganda it probably is, and digging a bit deeper to discover what has been distorted or omitted doesn't seem like too much of a burden if the truth is really what one seeks.
Goes without stating.
Goes without saying.
Preaching to the choir.
Nope I do not agree with the "sensationalized headline." The VP should not be 'ripped' for mentioning equity in a combined response to the nuanced problems of equality/equity + long-term/short-term stateside/international climate change.
Thank you for the change to clarify:
On a reread of the transcript; I do agree in part with the White house:
"The White House said her comments about equity were referring to long-term, bipartisan investments in underserved communities."
I do think White House staff tried to downgrade or remove what she clearly states about "immediate hurricane relief":
VP Harris placed no time factor on when/how/where this equitable treatment should begin. Her answer is very nuanced, here.
Afterwards, she turns to the international community.
Does it though?
C'mon man! I don't want to get popped for proselytizing here....
What comments did you find optimistic?
// Drinker see colorized text for my answer to your question.

That is the text (only you can figure out why it is black on your display because it is green (for positivity) on my screen) in answer to your pleading. Please, do you not 'dazzle' me with your comedic brilliance anymore today. I am 'full' for now.
[deleted]
I won't fall for that colored text font ploy again, all of my follow-up questions since all the font displayed was black on y screen, just got me tickets.
It was nice to see DeSantis go full on Socialist in asking for help from the feds.

*passing hand over head* "WOOOOSH"
Our two senators, Scott and Rubio both voted against the bill to avoid shutting the govt down in that bill was $18 billion to shore up emergency response now both of them are asking DC for more funds to help Florida.
Does that work well for you?
[deleted]
It just shows what hypocrites they are.
Do you think that they should disregard the state voters?
Is your expertise asking inane questions?
Hamsters don't drink Wry.
It doesn't take any expertise to follow up on the observation that a politician is a hypocrite.
Good to know that you don't have expertise but are simply trolling.
