No, he ain't "smooth" - he makes the wind and the waters envious with his fluidity of music and feelings.

Go Carlos, Go.

GAME OF LOVE is the best pop song of the past 25 years.

Video was filmed in the PIlsen neighborhood of Chicago, one of the largest Mexican American neighborhoods in the country (outside of California I suppose).

Partied with Carlos a couple of times. He was much nicer than Bob Marley.

Mr. Cool!  I saw him with the Stones at the Pontiac Silverdome.  He was the Stones warm up band at that time, and he stole the show!  The Stones played awful after him.

Here is a little gem...

Oh wow.  We where up in the nose bleed section to the right of the stage.  I thought the Stones where just going through the motions, but I loved Santana.

My introduction to Santana:

Santana - Oye Como Va (Live HQ - Carlos Santana)

It is Me, you struck 'pay-dirt' just now with Samba  Pa Ti. As a youth, my 'bestest' and I used to listen to  Oye Como Va ignoring the "B-side." Then, one day we asked the question what is on the other side? Wow!

Watching the video where Santana held the first long (wailing) note, I imagine he is remembering all the years that he has played this song. What well-worn fingers are his!

Samba Pa Ti, bears the distinction of being the first 'soft' melodic guitar full-instrumental song I played over and over again. I am having a 'back in the day' attack right now. (Tearing up - thinking about those days. Santana was a big part of my band years.) He has kept it together all these many years! Damn good! Magnificent! Many of his contemporaries are passed on. . . .

I once an article that indicated that the three greatest electric guitarists were Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.  Which one would you say is best?
