What Would Trump Do If The Devil Promised To Make Him President For The Rest Of His Life?
Haberman, who has probably studied Trump more than any other journalist, concluded that Trump is only interested in winning, and only in the short term. This is however, his lifetime personal philosophy. She also said that one of Trump's driving impulses is to make other people believe that nothing matters.

I was listening to Maggie Haberman on Nicole Wallace' show a little while ago, and as I was listening, a thought came to mind based on what she was saying about Donald Trump. Haberman, who has probably studied Trump more than any other journalist, concluded that Trump is only interested in winning, and only in the short term. This is however, his lifetime personal philosophy. She also said that one of Trump's driving impulses is to make other people believe that nothing matters.

She said a lot of other things in the 20 minute or so interview, and if it shows up on You Tube I would recommend that everyone watch it if they have interest.  You probably wont hear more insight into Trump from any source.

But here is what came to my mind. Trump is only interested in what is best for him, he doesnt care about MAGA except in the sense that it can glorify him, and doesnt care in any sort of committed or intellectual way about the success of conservatism, so I thought of a scenario where

the Devil (God or the Devil but most likely the Devil) comes to Donald Trump and says "I can make you president of the United States for the rest of your life. There is only one catch. You have to become and remain a progressive, and you have to implement progressive and liberal policies".

Do you think Trump would do it?  Remember, he would then be president of the United States for the rest of his life.

Then renege on the whole progressive/liberal pledge.

Yet you are apparently more than willing to ask them?

concluded that Trump is only interested in winning,

Ding, ding, ding, winner winner chicken dinner!  You win a cookie!  That was evident/obvious during the 2015/2016 Republican primaries, and one didn't need to be a political analyst or Pulitzer prize winning journalist to see it.  I have said this many times here in other discussions.

Based on his life and political track record, I would think he would do anything so long as it was viewed by him as "winning".  No carrot from a God or Devil would be necessary.  Since no God or Devil can grant him the Presidency for the rest of his life (Thank God!, pun 100%  intended), what would be the point of discussing whether that would make any difference?
