Mustard has a longer shelf life than ketchup.

It's always possible to put sliced tomatoes where ketchup could be used, but mustard has no alternative, and there are so many good mustards besides the common yellow deli mustard.  There is Dijon, for example, and with Chinese food a very strong mustard, but forget the ones you get in the little packages, ask for the house mustard - it's more like Wasabi.

We Canadians don't put ketchup on French fries, we use salt and vinegar instead.

In Ocean City they sell "Thrasher's french fries. They are famous in the area. They do not put out any ketchup out at all, but they do have apple cider vinegar and salt. It is really good on them.

Easiest question I've ever been asked, hate ketchup, don't use it at all.  I love fresh tomatoes, but can't stand ketchup.

Never heard of horseradish ketchup, but I have horseradish mustard in the fridge now.

It's really good for dipping shrimp in. It's called cocktail sauce.

Ketchup has little value, in fact, if it is made with high fructose syrup, it is unhealthy.  Basically Ketchup comes in one flavor - sugar.

Mustard on the other hand comes in many flavors and has many consistencies

Mustard is a good source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that both exhibit heart health benefits. ... Likewise, such fatty acids reduce blood pressure in hypertensive individuals, prevents harmful blood clots and plaque formation within the arteries.

Thank you for the article.

There is so much you can do with mustard.

Most Mustard I've seen also has Tumeric in it.Tumeric is one of the best natural anti-inflammatories.

(Ginger's good as well--as well as Omega 3's which are mentioned, above).
