Biden's rhetoric driving 'crisis' at the border: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio
The answer to a lot of these problems is going to be to go back to the Trump policies, but, of course, politically that becomes untenable for them [the Biden administration] to do so

Joe Biden isn't fooling President Obrador, of Mexico.  The Mexican government is dealing with the increased flow of migrants, too.  And the amount of money involved in the flow of migrants increases the difficulty of addressing corruption and crime in Mexico.  Biden's rhetoric has thrown Mexico under the bus.

Marco Rubio is only one of the more visible members of the Hispanic/Latinx population voicing concerns.  The problem for Biden and Democrats is that Rubio isn't an "old white guy" Republican.  Rubio is a first generation Latinx immigrant.

The Hispanic/Latinx population in the United States have an advantage that the Black population does not.  The Hispanic/Latinx population can claim to have assimilated.  And many in the established Hispanic/Latinx population see that as a goal that migrants should aspire to.  Many in the established Hispanic/Latinx population do not believe there is a need for affirmative action for migrants and express concerns that pursuing such affirmative action policies would hamper migrants' ability to assimilate into the United States.  Some see affirmative action as another form of Latin American socialism that they escaped.

The 2020 election was the first time there were more eligible Hispanic/Latinx voters than Black voters.  The Hispanic/Latinx population is now the largest minority group in the United States.  And the Hispanic/Latinx population is grossly underrepresented in political offices compared to their population size.  But that is changing, too.

Hispanic/Latinx politicians, such a Marco Rubio, may be precursor to the obsolescence of Democrat's identity politics.  As the Hispanic/Latinx population assimilate into the United States, the politics of affirmative action may not remain intact.  Because assimilation provides an advantage for the Hispanic/Latinx population that the Black population cannot claim.

Rubio made the comments one day after Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador asserted that the Biden administration's immigration policies have contributed to a surge of migrants that has overwhelmed facilities at the southern border in recent weeks.

President Biden reversed several Trump-era immigration measures, loosening restrictions for asylum claimants and ending a policy that required migrants to remain in Mexico while making their case to enter the United States. Lopez Obrador said the changes prompted migrants fleeing harsh conditions in Central America to risk the journey to the border.

"Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants," Lopez Obrador said at a press conference. "And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so."

The Biden administration has resisted calls from GOP lawmakers in recent weeks to declare a crisis at the border and tighten immigration restrictions in response to the surge. More than 15,000 unaccompanied migrant minors are in custody at federal facilities, according to CBS News.

On Tuesday, Pentagon chief spokesman John Kirby said the Pentagon has received a request for assistance from the Department of Health and Human Services to house migrant children at Fort Bliss and Joint Base San Antonio in Texas.

Kirby declined to say how many migrant children could be housed at the two locations. Fort Bliss, located in El Paso near the U.S. southern border, is the second-largest base by area in the United States.

Rubio, a member of the Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committees, told host Maria Bartiromo on Wednesday that "we are seeing the real-life consequences of campaign rhetoric and first-day policies of the new administration."

"The message was pretty clear and that is that both as a candidate and in the early days in office during the transition period it is going to be easier and more welcoming for people to come into the United States even if they do so illegally," he added. "And that message went out loud and clear."

"It was perceived by people that way and it's driving this crisis," he went on to say, warning that the situation at the border is "going to continue to get worse."

He also pointed out what he called "hypocrisy."

"The same people who demanded access to the facilities, who called it children in cages, who were hosting vigils and protests, now they're sort of silent about it," Rubio said.

"I don't see some of these leading figures on the left out there holding vigils and protests against the administration for doing the exact same thing, in many cases worse, than what they accused the Trump administration of so hypocrisy and incompetence both in full display."

Rubio also stressed on Wednesday that the Biden administration came into office and decided "whatever Donald Trump is for, we're going to reverse it, we're going to be against it without even looking at whether it makes common sense or not and the result is almost immediate."

"The answer to a lot of these problems is going to be to go back to the Trump policies, but, of course, politically that becomes untenable for them [the Biden administration] to do so," he continued, adding that "they're in a trap of their own making."

The population may or may not be more brown.  But brown isn't Black.  And that Hispanic/Latinx population can claim to have assimilated which provides a political advantage.

Marco Rubio isn't an "old white guy" Republican.  So, Democrats' racist rhetoric falls flat.  Democrats better get with the program or they could be left behind.  Assimilation may well become the next civil rights challenge.

Funny when Trump was President the Democrats were screaming about there being a crisis at the boarder. Of course they weren't will to provide funding to do anything about it.

No, when the former occupant of the White House was 'president' - it was he - the big fat pig turd - who created a crisis at the border.

Of course Biden has some responsibility in the crisis at the border--and that is whether he ever admits to it being a crisis.

Pro-illegal alien policies only entice more to come, assured that eventually we will give in and grant yet another round of amnesty.

Just 1 round?

Any amnesty given will encourage even more illegals to come; and there will have to be a second round, third round, fourth round.......

I fully anticipate more rounds of amnesty. That is far easier than dealing effectively with the problem.

Amnesty is a small problem.  The greater issue that needs more attention is assimilation.

The majority of unaccompanied minors crossing the border aren't orphans.  They're children that were left behind, supposedly left in conditions so horrific that they need asylum.  Their families have been split apart with one parent in their country of origin and one parent in the United States.  The migrants crossing the southern border are seeking opportunity but aren't necessarily seeking a new home.  What is happening is causing concern among the established Hispanic/Latinx population that has assimilated.

"they're in a trap of their own making."

And they (Dems) never learn from their mistakes.

From publicly inviting a surge to dismantling international agreements designed to handle asylum claims far from the border, Biden is doing everything he can to make to uncontrolled immigration a reality.
