What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
Any of you old to remember that commercial and jingle?
I'll tell you what I did yesterday to deserve a Klondike Bar. I got my pupils dilated and didn't kick and scream or carry on about my eyes burning. And that's the first time ever, too!
Then I got in the car, drove to Kroger, walked around the store like a drunk sailor, and bought a six pack....of Klondike Bars. The Heath flavor.
So...Seriously...what would you do for a Klondike Bar? I feel the need for some silliness because it's been a bad week and next week ain't looking any better.
I'm really glad I remembered to bring my big wrap around sunglasses with me. I looked like a fool at Kroger, but who cares?
At least you have a Krogers. They closed ours. All we have is an older Winn Dixie and several of those walmart grocery stores. They opened a Rouses in the next city but even jumping on the interstate it would take me 20/25 minutes to get there.
I'm sorry. I don't know what I would do without Kroger. I can't stand Walmart but sometimes I have to go there because Kroger doesn't carry the item I need.
I think I read recently that Walmart sells more groceries than any other company in the world. It all happened kind of fast too. Something like 15 years.
I would do without an item rather than spend one red cent at WM.
I don't care for them. I end up going to the older Winn Dixie we have. I will drive over to Rouses if I want some good meat.
Odd thing is most of these walmart groceries have a gas station in front of them. They are always full. I don't know if it is cheaper or whatever but I skip that as well.
I think three of them have popped up around here. Getting as bad as the dollar stores.
I wish I had your stamina. But my cats like their Purina One Salmon Flavor and I like my Folger's Natural Caramel and Natural Chocolate coffee. Kroger doesn't carry those items
I have to drive about 40 miles to shop at a Kroger, and it's not the best Kroger. All we have is Walmart and a small, outdated Food Lion.
You should try Chewey for your cat's needs. They have good prices and fast delivery. I don't drink coffee, so I have no suggestion except sometimes you can order directly from the manufacturer.

What would I do for a Klondike bar? As long as it was something I would not have to admit in court of law later, I'm good with most things. We don't have any Kroger stores here in Arizona as such. Instead we Frys Foods which is a subsidiary of Kroger's due a merger several years ago. The closest one is 60 miles away from me so shopping there is non starter. the only thing we have here in my small rural town is a Walmart Supercenter and Dollar General and Family Dollar. Don't care that much for Walmart prices, but it's the only game in town. No gas station at our store. Don't know about elsewhere, but unleaded gas is running $2.90 a gallon here.
I do use Chewey for their treats and their wet food. I need to see if they are carrying Purina One now. When I first started using them, their selection was pretty small. I had to get the treats in the large cannister and Stubby refused to eat them because they didn't come in a bag.
I'm pretty sure that staggering towards the refrigerated section of the supermarket looking like that doesn't raise many eyebrows in hicksville arkansas.

I had some Heath Klondike bars last week. Let those suckers get a little soft and they like to melt in your mouth.
I like to freeze then in the deep freeze then pour caramel syrup all over them and eat them with a spoon

Never. Haha I do remember the commercials though. I blame my mother. Growing up we were poor so she would only buy the cheapest neapolitan she could find. Sort of turned me off of ice cream.
Either that or during the summer, what I call, those frozen koolaid sticks.
We were kind of poor, too, but my father loved his ice cream, so we got decent ice cream like Breyer's or whatever the local dairy sold.
And we got frequent trips to the Tasty Freeze for soft-serve cones, sundaes, and banana splits.
I'm not a die hard fan of ice cream, but every now and then I need some. Note that I said "need" not "want".

One thing I remember from my father was at Thanksgiving he always had to have a mince meat pie. As a kid I though...Pie...I want some.

Me too. I prefer pie over cake. Especially cherry. I would love a raspberry pie but I haven't seen any but heard about them. I have to settle for raspberry tarts
That's the best soft-serve. I worked at an ice cream stand that used the same mix. It's a whole milk mix, where Dairy Queen uses a reduced fat mix. So Tasty Freeze is worse for you, and therefore tastes so much better.
My favorite fruit pie is cherry, but I think my favorite pie is lemon meringue.
Marie Callendar's sells a pretty good mixed berry pie that you bake yourself and it has raspberries. It's really good, or I bet it would have been if I hadn't decided to bake it when I was drunk.
Why is it that everything that's bad for you tastes good and feels good?

I'm eating a fresh peach from the farmer's market right now. I start craving them about March, and watch and wait for the sign to go up telling us that peaches are in. Delicious and good for me.
But the peach ice cream I'm planning to make this weekend - not so good for me.
I'll have to try one, if I can find one.
These are locally-grown semi-cling yellow peaches. So juicy you have to stand over the sink to slice them, and if you eat them out of hand, you might as well just plan to shower and change clothes afterward.
They are okay, but I prefer Dove Bars.
Magnum ice cream bars. Pure indulgence.
They are awesome.
My fave is the caramel - 2 layers of chocolate, caramel in between, vanilla ice cream.
I'd go get some, but I just had some homemade peach ice cream after dinner, and I'd burst.

I was never really a Klondike Bar kid ( though in a pinch any ice cream will do ), Fudgesicles now those I was good for a box by my gluttonous self. But now as a mature adult, I just bury my nose in a pint of Ben & Jerrys, oink.
I'm currently addicted to Stephen Colbert's Americone Dreams. Vanilla ice cream, chocolate-covered waffle cone bits, and caramel.
There's some in the freezer. For the moment.

Aw heck. When I want a Klondike Bar I just go to the freezer and pick one. Linda keeps every essential in good supply. As the old saying goes, "If you want it done right let the girl handle it."
I never knew Klondike bars - I only knew Polar Bars.
Pretty much the same thing except a Klondike is square, has no stick, and is wrapped in foil
I would spend the next 23 hours in the bathroom, which, given my lactose intolerance, is exactly what would happen. About every three months, I decide that it's worth it.
They do but the taste has the same effect on me as anything labeled "low calorie". Yeccch!! How do I keep from weighing 300 pounds? Check my avatar, especially the two boys. Keeping up with them gives you lots and lots of exercise.
I'm slightly lactose intolerant but when I want ice cream, I want it NOW, dammit!

Oh Yeah!!! Since summer started, the kids have been getting either ice cream bars or Neapolitan ice cream sandwiches for their 3:00 PM snack. The sandwiches are pretty tempting. During the winter, Grandma makes chocolate chip cookies for snack time (Grandparent's Manual page 26. Grandma's should make cookies or brownies at least once a day.)

Yesterday I read this and later I made an unplanned turn at the soft serve ice cream stand. I enjoyed a large cone on a hot afternoon
