Republican Disinformation (Again)
"No one said this wasn’t photoshopped."

Sponsored by group SiNNERs and ButtHeads

SiNNERs and ButtHeads

Republicans, led by their fearless leader Donald Trump are always yelling about "fake news".  To them, any news they don't like is labelled "fake" even when it's 100% accurate.  So one would think that Republicans would never publish "fake news" themselves.

Well, one would be wrong to believe that.  Trump has spent millions of dollars on FaceBook ads that are outrageous lies.  Here is an example of a Republican Congressman who intentionally put out a photoshopped picture of Obama on Twitter.  This ridiculous pic will be retweeted and spread like a disease all over the Internet.  Congressmen should never intentionally spew disinformation.

When Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar was called out for posting the photoshopped pic, naturally he doubled down on his lie and called the reported who caught his lie "dim witted".

GOP Congressman Freaks After People Call Out His Fake Obama Photo

Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar tweeted a doctored image of Barack Obama with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and got testy when people pointed out it was fake.

A Republican lawmaker wasn’t happy when he was exposed for using a fake photo to spread propaganda.

On Monday, Rep.  Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) tweeted a doctored pic that showed former President  Barack Obama meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani  — an encounter that never happened. The photo was captioned:  “The world is a better place without these guys in power.”

800

CNN journalist Andrew Kaczynski noted that Gosar was sharing a misleadingly edited version of a photo that was taken in 2011  — when Obama met not with Rouhani, but with former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

800

Journalist Daniel Medina also pointed out that Rouhani was still in power and condemned Gosar’s attempt to spread disinformation.

1. This photo is a fake photoshop effort. Obama never met with @ HassanRouhani . 2) Rouhani *is still* president of Iran. @ DrPaulGosar is a US congressman but yet tweets out this kind of blatant misinformation. https:// twitter.com/drpaulgosar/st atus/1214276066086395906

Despite the criticism, Gosar defended his use of the doctored image in a follow-up tweet: “To the dim witted reporters like @dmedin11 : No one said this wasn’t photoshopped. No one said the president of Iran was dead.  No one said Obama met with Rouhani in person. The tweet says: ‘the world is a better place without either of them in power.’”

Gosar continued to argue that the tweet was truthful, avoiding the fact that the photo wasn’t.

2. The point remains to all but the dimmest: Obama coddled, appeased, nurtured and protected the worlds No. 1 sponsor of terror. The world is better without Obama as president. The world will be better off without Rouhani.

But people on Twitter weren’t moved by Gosar’s logic. Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) tweeted: “The world would be a better place if elected officials didn’t share photoshopped images and take pride in being ignorant.”

One Twitter user suggested that Gosar had invented a new catchphrase:   "no one said this isn't photoshopped" is the Gettysburg address of modern politics

Some people responded to Gosar’s photoshopped pic with photos of President  Donald Trump and North Korean dictator  Kim Jong Un , who actually met .

You are just an idiot for tweeting it out in the first place. I hope AZ kicks you to the curbside in November. You are despicable, & a complete # TrumpChump . Here is a picture of your master shaking hands w/his hero, a tyrant & a man who kills his own people. You must be in love!

Posting a photoshopped picture is dishonest.  I would never do such a thing, unless it was a joke.  And since Paul Gosar is a joke, here's a photoshopped pic of him with President Obama:

Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar has lied about President Obama before.  He, like The Donald, was a "birther".

Conspiracy-theorist Republican congressman blames Obama after siblings film ad for his opponent

Birther Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) says the former president made his family be mean to him.

JOSH ISRAEL SEP 25, 2018, 12:51 PM

Last week, a Democratic candidate in Arizona running for Congress released a unique campaign ad that quickly went viral.

In it, a group of citizens explain why they are backing Democratic David Brill in the November midterms over incumbent Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ). At the end of the ad, it is revealed that they are all Gosar’s brothers and sisters.

On Monday, the Tea Party  congressman pinned the blame for his siblings’ decision to speak out on former President Barack Obama.

After initially dismissing his family members as “leftists” in the mold of “Lenin, Mao, and Kim Jung Un [sic],” Gosar took a new tack on Monday. In a radio  interview , he complained about the ad, telling host Mike Broomhead, “You know, this actually details exactly what the left, what Barack Obama actually asked progressives to do, is to get into family and friends, in their face, and not let up.”

Gosar was apparently referencing the seemingly innocuous comments that Obama made  earlier this month, encouraging college students in Illinois to “get involved, and you get engaged, and you knock on some doors, and you talk with your friends, and you argue with your family members, and you change some minds, and you vote, something powerful happens.”

On his campaign site, Gosar notably  calls himself  “a devout family man” who “cherishes Arizona’s culture of family values.”

This is not the first time Gosar has embraced conspiracy theories to blame others for things he doesn’t like. One of the reasons his brother David gave the Washington Post for his decision to appear in the ad was Rep. Gosar’s embrace of the racist “birther” theory that Obama was not born in the United States. Last year, the Republican congressman blamed George Soros and an “Obama backer” for the white nationalist violence and unrest in Charlottesville, Virginia.

I hope Arizona voters kick Gosar out of office.  And I hope they vote against that other stupid birther, Donald Trump.  People who spread lies and disinformation should be voted out of office.  Donald Trump lies more than anyone.  He is a hypocrite when he calls the mainstream media "fake news".

Gosar is the slug whose six brothers and sisters made a campaign ad which asked the voters of that Arizona congressional district to vote for his opponent.

He is one of the most embarrassing members of Congress, a tea party creature of the far right and bathed in ignorance. A poster boy for the folly of Trumpism.

His reward for putting the false photo of Obama on social media will probably be a personal endorsement and visit to his district during the fall campaign from President***** Trump.

And trump has yet to condemn radical christianity. Just for the record. Obama killed more terrorists in 6 years than Bush and Clinton did...combined. Before you dish out the, "Obama killed civilians", in the article, it says less than 200 were killed. To put that in perspective, Bush's Iraq war, between 2003 and 2007, 200,000+ civilians were killed. So please save the fake outrage.

Pizza goes back to the Greeks. Many of their settlements were in modern Italy, like Naples 600AD.

It had a reputation of being a quick meal for the poor and would never be served in a nice or posh restaurant.

That changed when Italians moved to the USA at the turn of the century but remained a staple in Italian NYC neighborhoods only.

After WWII with an influx of Italians and returning vets Pizza expanded across the USA and  became a hit here, not there.

I have seen people on this forum say Trump doesnt lie.  He has said, around 80 times, that the whistleblower account is "completely wrong". That is a lie, which Trump repeats over and over. The whistleblower account has been shown to be almost entirely accurate, yet Trump repeatedly says it is "totally false".  Trump is not 'exaggerating' , he is lying.  A similar lie is that the Mueller Report "totally exonerated" him. It did no such thing. Trump repeated that lie maybe a thousand times.

I bet you this clown Gosar runs around telling everyone that Trump never lies.

GOP Rep Tweeted a Fake Obama Photo. Now He's Mad at Everyone For Pointing It Out

GOP Rep Tweeted a Fake Obama Photo. Now He's Mad at Everyone For Pointing It Out

Arizona Republican congressman Paul Gosar, who championed immigration policies so repugnant his six siblings   came out against him   in a recent reelection bid, has been on an odd Twitter tear. Last November, the representative clandestinely wedged a   Jeffrey Epstein meme into a tweet   about the Trump impeachment proceedings, and then followed it up a month later with a rather inscrutable attack aimed at the Clintons on Christmas Eve.

On Tuesday, Gosar continued his conspiracy-minded social-media spree by tweeting a doctored photo of an event that never occurred.

The image appears to show former President Barack Obama and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, shaking hands and presumably palling around. In his tweet, the Republican lawmaker made it clear that he dislikes both men very much:

It didn't take long for reporters—and casual Twitter observers—to debunk the photo as an obvious photoshop. CNN's Andrew Kaczynski was one of the first to note that the photo was a poorly edited version of a real photo between Obama and former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Obama, some reporters noted, never met Rouhani at any diplomatic functions during his eight-year presidency, and certainly never stood before a media gaggle, smiling and shaking the Iranian president's hand. Freelance reporter Daniel Medina was also quick to point out that Rouhani is still very much the president of Iran—something that appeared to evade Gosar's thought process when he wrote that the "world is a better place without these guys in power."

After his edited photo was debunked, the congressman immediately went on the defensive, attacking "dim-witted" reporters for misinterpreting the faked image he pushed onto the web from his verified account, giving it an air of presumptive authenticity.

With the 2020 presidential election on the horizon and the escalating friction between the U.S. and Iran in the wake of the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani, Gosar's tweet poked the hornet's nest when political tensions are at an apex. And with cyber security experts warning about the perils of   misinformation campaigns   in the build up to the 2020 elections, Gosar's antics   mirror the exact kind of online manipulation   that might be carried out by a bad actor looking to create chaos and division—except that he's an American elected official.

If anything, the Republican party seems to see misinformation as a useful tactic in gaining support for its current military endeavors in the Middle East. Just last week, vice president Mike Pence   falsely claimed   that Soleimani helped orchestrate the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It appears Gosar has merely taken a page out of the same book.

No one said this wasn’t photoshopped. No one said the president of Iran was dead.  No one said Obama met with Rouhani in person.

That's not a valid defense. That's like lying and later saying "I never said I wasn't lying."

Anyone looking at the picture would assume it was a real photo. In this situation, you should tell people it's photoshopped. It would be different if it were obviously fake - like Obama with a super fat body or the head of a rabbit or something.

I agree with Tessy. Tacos, I'm thrilled it seems you're seeing the light of day. I have friends who voted for Trump and now regret it. I admire their honesty, I respect their candor and I'm impressed by their ability to admit that they were wrong because they expected something different. Good on you, Tacos.

I've never taken it to Moab. That would be a fun trip. It's been all over Death Valley, though. I took that thing down Lippincott Road once and yeah, we did come close to going over the cliff. They never grade that trail, so it can be pretty scary. I had to kind of put the wheels on the canyon wall in a couple spots to keep out of the ravine.

Right. I don't expect a disclaimer for a thing like that. Nobody with any sense thinks a dog is getting the CMOH. Surprisingly (to me), though, some people in the media felt it necessary to "debunk" the photo.

You have to admit, Tacos, that many on the right actually believe that shit. Like the Rocky photo. Trump said it was really him and his most idiot supporters believe it. You have to admit the rabid "totally believe him" supporters of trump are certain kind of crazy stupid. I know you get it.

Disinformation:

Politicians who slavishly parrot Russian propaganda fall into three categories: the Cynical (those who know better but peddle the lies anyway); Useful Idiots (those who are easily manipulated) ; and the Compromised (those who are actual Russian assets who do Moscow’s bidding because they were recruited one way or another). [Emphasis mine.]

There may even be Chinese bots.

That is too fuckin' funny. Yeah, I see a lot of flags myself. Makes me feel popular. I appreciate they've decided to stick to their own type of articles and not attempt to dissuade us from leaning left by using logic, intelligence, and sticking to strict principles of validity. Actually, I've never seen many of them using logic, intelligence, and sticking to strict principles of validity. I just thought it would be funny to say it.

Disinformation:

AUSTIN — Texas Republicans plan to use a disinformation campaign to help them win back a dozen state House races in 2020, buying up website domains that look like they belong to Democratic candidates and loading the sites with negative information, according to a leaked document from the party. “Not sure why it’s news that we’re aggressively working to earn the support of all Texas voters for all our candidates,” said Texas Republican Party Chairman James Dickey, who confirmed the authenticity of the document. “This draft discusses just some of the many ways in which we are going to turn out not only our dedicated base, but we’re going to expand that base and attract independent voters as well.”

Disinformation:

Mitt Romney and the few other Republican lawmakers who have spoken out against Trump lately have become the targets of disinformation on social media. False Facebook posts and tweets about federal and local lawmakers who broke the party line have been shared thousands of times, with some talking points   making their way onto   radio and TV programs, too.

Romney has called Trump’s actions regarding Ukraine "deeply troubling." He called Trump’s urging of China to investigate his rival Joe Biden "wrong and appalling."

Those statements prompted several false attacks against Romney. One viral tweet that spread rapidly on Facebook falsely claimed that Romney’s son also worked for a Ukrainian oil company. The goal: sow doubt about Romney’s true intentions for speaking out against Trump.

Other attacks falsely claim the dissenting conservatives have voted in favor of impeaching Trump — even though no vote has been taken — while others try to implicate them in sham corruption scandals.

For Republicans, the choice on social media is clear: support the president or get smeared.

I think that photoshopping is not much different from media bias - but there's an awful lot more intentionally misleading media bias out there than there is photoshopping.  I wonder if all those "righteous" NT members who slam photoshopping will admit to the media bias that is slanted to benefit THEIR "principles".

I think that photoshopping is not much different from media bias

I think that's a ridiculous comparison. Outright lying, faking an image, to you, is the same as the media presenting facts from their perspective? It's the same as media 'spin"? With photoshopped nonsense which is the bread and butter of the right wing in America, there is no "spin" needed, it's just an outright bald-faced lie.

Here is an example of the difference:

"The killing of an Iranian General has many questioning Trumps motives. Was it an illegal "assassination" or the completely justified extra-judicial killing of a terrorist? We've seen nothing to justify such lethal action."... (spin)

"Here is a photo of Obama handing weapons to the Iranian General, and here's one of Hillary giving him a hand job. Are Democrats terrorists?" (photoshop)

Are you really unable to see the difference?

I said "not much different" - I did not say "the same as".  It's a matter of degree (and comprehending the English language).  Neither is the absolute truth - one cannot trust a biased comment as being the truth.  So I didn't require your pontification.

Diss-information. This guy has to be the dumbest fuck on the planet despite knowing that some of the dumbest fuck supporters will fall for it:

President Donald Trump appeared to claim credit today for a record drop in cancer death rates that occurred the year he took office. Scientists say lower smoking rates, earlier detection and better drugs are responsible for a steady decline in cancer deaths since 1991. The president, who unsuccessfully advocated cutting $4.5 billion from the NIH budget last year,   tweeted that U.S. cancer death rates   are the lowest in recorded history, adding there is “a lot of good news coming out of this Administration.”
