Texas park ranger pushed into water after reminding crowd about social distancing

A Texas park ranger advising revelers at a lake to practice social distancing because of the coronavirus pandemic was shoved into the water.

The ranger, identified in an Austin police report as Cassidy Zukeran Stillwell, was telling a group of parkgoers at Lake Austin to spread apart when he was pushed. Thursday's scene was captured on video and shared on social media.

"Disperse yourselves," Stillwell can be heard saying in the video. "You're not engaging in that six feet of distance with each other."

"I got you man," a reveler responds. "I got you."

Shortly afterward, a man pushes the ranger with one hand, and, as the ranger begins to fall, he grabs the man but slips and becomes fully emerged in the water.

Brandon James Hicks, 25, was arrested on suspicion of assault on a public servant and damaging city property, the ranger's emergency radio. Officials said he could have "caused the Ranger to strike his head on the dock as he was falling, and render himself unconscious in at least three feet of water where he could have drowned to death," according to a police report obtained by NBC affiliate KXAN.

The state on Friday began allowing retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters and malls to reopen with limited capacity following a month of widespread isolation orders sparked by the coronavirus pandemic.

Gov. Greg Abbott's stay-at-home order in late March did not prohibit people from visiting parks.

Someone has that beat.  I think it was in Iowa or Idaho - a guard told a family they could not enter a Family Dollar store with the daughter not having a mask on her face.

They came back and shot him in the head.

I read that. Last I heard they were still on the loose. The cowards ran and left the mother/wife behind.

The pieces of shit need to be tortured in prison for the rest of their miserable lives.

I know why I was thinking of Idaho or Iowa now - Ammon Bundy - part of that crowd of terrorists that overtook that wildlife refuge in Oregon(?) is now protesting I think in Idaho or Iowa - some state that starts with an I, I think, are protesting there as well.

So many morons out there defying all common sense and spreading this I lose track.

There was something else in Flint Michigan I think similar to this or am I getting my freaking nut cases mixed up?

No, that's the same case.

Don't fuck with our Texas Park Rangers, Fish & Game officers or State Police.

There are 500 Game Wardens and 170 Park Rangers in Texas.

That means that they're licensed peace officers in the State of Texas, and, arguably, they are some of the most powerful police in the state. They can inspect, search, seize, and arrest just like a regular police officer.

And while most of the time they’re enforcing the Texas Parks & Wildlife Code, they have the full authority to enforce all other Texas criminal laws, including the penal code.

So, remember, when you’re dealing with a Texas game warden, you’re dealing with the police.

Fuck with them at you own peril.

As my Father was a Texas Ranger and a Fast Cross-Draw expert, I can assure you that they are nothing anyone should mess with. I don't care how big of a bad ass one thinks they are, they take their life in their own hands when they decide to play hard ball with any Texas Ranger.

A member of a cattle rustling operation decided to take my Father on thinking he was faster and badder than my Father. My Father gave him three times to back off and the idiot refused. The idiot reached toward his gun and hit the ground before his hand ever reached his holster.

And my Father was just one of many others on the Force.

The Texas Ranger Museum is here in Waco. Pretty cool--used to have a bunch of Bonnie and Clyde stuff on loan from a collector I used to know. He passed and his wife sold it all. Made a bunch of money from what I could find out.

Yes sir, that's the one. Not very big, but I like history, so I enjoyed it.

The Dr Pepper Museum is here, too!

One of the guys I played poker with was the guy who discovered the Mammoth fossil. Its a National Monument now.

The Mayborn Museum at Baylor had the touring Titanic exhibit for a few months--pretty cool.

Wow! Paul or Eddie?  Very Neat, either way.

Have to stop for a few hours at the Mammoth dig site next time we head south.

Very, very cool.

Paul Barron, he gets the most credit because his sister had recently had a baby and they were trying to 'clear the house' of snakes after finding a baby one in the house.  Eddie Bufkin(s) was just a friend who happened to accompany him.

They poked around the house, then the yard and wandered out toward the creek.  He reached up and pulled on a rock to climb out of a gully and pulled the knob off of of a femur and suddenly realized what it was and that he was looking at tusks and skulls all around him.

We are lucky that he had been in Scouts and Explorers and instantly knew of the importance of his find.

Fantastical, one in a zillion find.  The herd was probably killed the day the dinosaurs were inundated by the Meteor that hit the Yucatan Peninsula, but we will never know.

Al I get from my back yard is the occasional Ammonite fossil or arrow head and chunks of coral.

It is considered assault on a LEO and the asshole who pushed him should get the max fine and imprisonment.

Not funny. Even for a minor thing like enforcing social distancing, a lone LEO is in a scary situation when dealing with a group of people. He is vastly outnumbered.

The ducks are stupid?

I was talking to my son the other night. They have a pond in front of their place where there was a goose hanging around for awhile. They call her Lucy. Well, Lucy disappeared for a few days and when she returned she had a flock of goslings swimming behind her. Now they have some more geese to name
